The Great Chief Kahawali and his younger brother Ahua prepare for a hōlua race. While preparing to compete, Pele, the goddess of Kīlauea Volcano, appears. Disguised in her elderly form, Pele requests the use of Chief Kahawali's sled. Offended by the request, Chief Kahawali denies the goddess.
