The tempter in the garden was a master at twisting the truth, which lured Eve to sin, and she then led Adam to do the same. Behind him is a photo of him with his eyes covered: see no evil here, just gaze at my beauty and listen to what I say. You also get a visual of a solar eclipse. Again a reference to Christ's death on the cross, as there was (according to both the Bible and present day astronomers) a solar eclipse when Christ died on the cross. He'll "help you see a new world," but is this really a good new world when innocence is stripped from you? "I'm your toy, I'll make you innocent." Most toys appear innocent and signify the innocence you had as a young child, but the apple (forbidden fruit) looked innocent too and "appeared" good to eat. Many poisonous thing appear beautiful and delectable but those very qualities lure the unsuspecting victim to their death. It was the serpent who distorted the truth and tempted with the one "forbidden apple" rather than the other acceptable fruit. Sin invades so slowly and subtly that you don't even realize it's happening until you're already addicted to it, and you have no clue because you're "...relying on your own self-control...moved by your body's and soul's" dark desires. The tempter says, "Open your eyes. What do you want? I'LL MAKE YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU NEVER KNEW." Exactly. Adam and Eve never knew sin, until the tempter tricked them and revealed all and after that, humanity has always wanted more--greed. Before you know it, you have been gently and seductively led right to Rodin's famous "Gates of Hell" sculpture at the end of the MV. You are left with a choice: 1) Embrace the sin and willingly go through those gates (Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden because they chose sin and God appointed Cherubim with swords of flame to guard the gates of Eden so no one could ever enter again), and entered into death (they lost their immortality) or wash yourself clean in pure holy) water (Christ promised to gift us with living water - Taemin also has a song called, "Holy Water"), and there's only one way to do that - by believing in and accepting Christ as your Savior. I'm sure there's probably much more that I've missed. So, you can see how Taemin's lyrics can be interpreted simply as they appear, or once you study the meticulous details that Taemin is famous for infusing into his work, you may find a message that's a little uncomfortable for some and more than you bargained for...lol. If you watch his performance of "Heaven", which is a magnificent song written by Taemin, you will see he makes the sign of the cross several times within the choreography, as he frequently does, but it's pretty blatant with that song.
Idols have specifically said that they chose to become idols because of Taemin, have cried after watching his performance, and have always covered his songs. There was even a variety show ep about Taemin (other idols competed to see who was the best Taemin fanboy)
Taemin is a Kpop superstar who's been famous since 2008. He's from the very popular group Shinee, has a very successful solo career and is also in SuperM which is SM Entertainment's super group of Kpop stars from other famous SM groups. The female 'killing me softly' is BoA who is known as the Queen of Kpop. Taemin is widely regarded as the best male dancer in Kpop. Messiah means savior. Jesus Christ is often called the Messiah. Taemin, Shinee and SuperM have a large number of popular songs among them. Shinee is known as the Princes of Kpop.
"Idea" is the third part of Taemin's Never Gonna Dance Again album. It is part of a trilogy which started with his prologue "2 Kids," and continued with "Criminal" which is part of Act 1 of the album. "Idea" is part of Act 2 of the album and it brings the whole concept full circle. As Taemin said in an interview: "The two acts put together tell a story. '2 Kids’ is about growing pains and depicts the story prior to the story in the album. You can think of '2 Kids' as a teaser before the movie called 'Never Gonna Dance Again.' Act 1 shows a new side of me. I think it’ll be something you’ve never seen in K-pop before. And Act 2 is the end-all-be-all. It’s the ultimate level of intensity. Never Gonna Dance Again’ was originally the name of the concept. Because it doesn’t make sense for me to stop dancing. But I wanted to give a sense of rebellion with the irony of the title.” Some have said, and I have to agree, that "Idea" is a metaphor for the way Taemin sees his career. He loves what he does, almost to the point of obsession -- like "my messiah" he is drawn to it and can't help worship it -- he practically needs to dance and perform to survive. But, at the same time, it pretty much controls his life and living as an Idol means everything he does is done in the public eye and he will never be able to live a normal life -- his "dangerous dream" that is engulfing him and "swallowing him" up. The stress and constant demand for perfection he feels may be slowly "Killing me softly," etc. I particularly like the verse in "Idea" that says, "The blue light, When you and I face each other, Stained in it, All one's feelings, It's an infinite range, In my world, Most dazzling,The absolute value of you, My my IDEA." These lines seem to be talking about Taemin's fans. SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua blue, so the blue light you see in the MV and the blue light he talks about in the lyrics of "Idea," makes me think he is referring to the impact and influence the fans have had on everything he has done in his career. And although he loves and appreciates us, it has not come without a few sacrifices and negative aspects as well. The mutual love and respect between Taemin and the fans also has added a lot of extra pressure on him because he always wants to give people his absolute best and he is constantly trying to live up to an impossible standard of self-imposed flawlessness. So with every release from this album, the concept was designed to be darker than the last. In "2 Kids" he was emotionally and physically beating himself up with regrets and in "Criminal" he was living in a toxic relationship and being brainwashed to the point he was suffering from stockholm syndrome; he fell in love with the person/criminal (or thing -- i.e. his career) who is essentially inflicting all the pain and suffering on him. So, in other words, even though you are being abused by that person (possibly a metaphor for the pressure he is creating for himself as he pushes himself in his pursuit of perfection) he still can't help but love the criminal (i.e. his career) and allow them/it to continue to cause him to suffer, etc. :D "Idea" takes the theme one step further, and says that even though it was my idea and my plan to live this life, nothing comes without a price, and because of that self-inflicted need to be flawless, any chance of being average or living a regular life is pretty much dead. Taemin has sacrificed everything to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. So that is why his choreography keeps getting more and more intense. And it is all designed to help tell the song's story. If you are impressed with Taemin's dancing, just wait until you see his dance practice video for "Idea." ua-cam.com/video/lpn1ppH-W54/v-deo.html You will be even more blown away. Also check out Taemin's "Idea" dance tutorial video where he teaches Haechan from NCT and Ten from WayV the choreography and explains the concept and story behind some of the moves. ua-cam.com/video/Mj1JSTwbxHA/v-deo.html Fun fact: The female voice you hear in "Idea " is BoA. She is a solo artist also under SM Entertainment, and she is Taemin's highly respected senior who debuted with SM in 2000 at the age of 13 and, now after 20 years, she is known as one of the senior-most members of the industry. BoA is legend. To see what kind of influence BoA has had on the industry and why it is so fitting that she was included on this song, check out her recent "202020" documentary. Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two dancers in the industry, he was made a member of SuperM. (Kai from EXO -- Taemin's best friend since they were trainees, who is also under SM Entertainment, as well as a member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) Taemin is an Idol of Idols and a legend of legends. And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on both Taemin and Kai by their peers and the industry as a whole. There is literally no one considered better than them. Taemin doesn't have to try to grab your attention, he just exudes commend of the stage. That is what makes him one of the top performers and why he is so popular. It's all just who he is. The funny thing is, although Taemin is ultra confident when on stage, when not performing his personality is the complete opposite. That's what makes him even more lovable. When on stage, Taemin can turn his sexy, sensual side up to 3,000 and he become the most powerful and magnificent performer that command the stage. But the minute he step off the stage he becomes quiet and shy and he blushes when people compliment him for his looks or performance. When not on stage, Taemin is known for being sort of innocent and kind of naive and a little ditsy, as only the maknae (youngest member) of a group can get away with -- he is 2 to 4 years younger than the rest of the SHINee members and he plays up being the baby when he is around them, and they pretty much will do anything he asks. He knows how to be cute when he wants something, but he hates it when someone asks him to be cute. LOL. If you see him in his everyday life, it's almost hard to believe he can be this intense when performing. It's literally like he flips a switch. :D Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance more, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Idea," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With more than 12 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years.
@@choosejay1497 You’ll enjoy it!! I’m excited to see ur thoughts on it and if you’d like to know more about the mv/lyrics/directing, you should watch Taemin Criminal MV Commentary (react to it or even just in your free time). Taemin basically talks about the whole process and it’s only 10 mins long
he is one of the best and most respected k-pop stars. the concept of the song is the Plato's Theory of Forms philosophy. he has a lot of great and different music. he is participating in 2 groups, shinee and superm. and known to be one of the most popular solo artists in kpop
@@choosejay1497 he doesn't go with the main stream music. always tries different concepts depending on a lot of factors. he debuted with the group in 2008, and hadn't a consistency of the solo work till recent 3-4 years because of the main group activities
@@choosejay1497 haha, tbh me too. I didn’t start listening to him until I heard about him through BTS and through YT recommendations like a few months ago.
This is some background info on Taemin: He is known as the King of Kpop and he debuted in 2008 with his group SHINee who are known as the Princes of Kpop. SHINee are trendsetters (one example: they made the first ever Kpop dance practice video and popularized complex choreography in kpop) and are highly respected in the industry for their vocals and live performances.
I just saw you have reacted to SuperM and EXO before! Taemin is in SuperM too (the members are from multiple popular groups) and he’s best friends with EXO’s Kai. Taemin has a song featuring Kai called “Pretty Boy” if you would like to check it out
If you would like to know more about SHINee, I recommend reacting to “SHINee proving they’re the standard” or “SHINee setting the bar so high no one can reach it.” I loved your reaction to IDEA so I would really love to hear your thoughts on these! (I separated my comment bc one long comment might get annoying 😅)

Oh wow, I thought I saw a few comments saying this was his debut. Must've been another artist.
But I wanted to give a sense of rebellion with the irony of the title.”
Some have said, and I have to agree, that "Idea" is a metaphor for the way Taemin sees his career.
Also check out Taemin's "Idea" dance tutorial video where he teaches Haechan from NCT and Ten from WayV the choreography and explains the concept and story behind some of the moves. ua-cam.com/video/Mj1JSTwbxHA/v-deo.html
Fun fact: The female voice you hear in "Idea " is BoA.
Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. :D
Taemin's style of dance can't be defined.
MV Taemina is always at a high level.
Thank you for reacting to Taemin!! I love your reaction. Can you please react to his other recent MV Criminal?
Thanks! I actually planned on that one being the next song I react to by him
@@choosejay1497 You’ll enjoy it!!
Crazy how I never heard of this guy man🤦🏾♂️
@@choosejay1497 he doesn't go with the main stream music. always tries different concepts depending on a lot of factors. he debuted with the group in 2008, and hadn't a consistency of the solo work till recent 3-4 years because of the main group activities
Taemin is phenomenal
I'm so late to him
@@choosejay1497 haha, tbh me too.
Crazy how I've never heard of him/them😂 I feel left out
@@choosejay1497 😂 it’s probably bc kpop wasn’t really big in the west and especially US until a few years ago
Pls react to taemin criminal!
Coming next
I just saw you have reacted to SuperM and EXO before! Taemin is in SuperM too (the members are from multiple popular groups) and he’s best friends with EXO’s Kai. Taemin has a song featuring Kai called “Pretty Boy” if you would like to check it out
If you would like to know more about SHINee, I recommend reacting to “SHINee proving they’re the standard” or “SHINee setting the bar so high no one can reach it.” I loved your reaction to IDEA so I would really love to hear your thoughts on these! (I separated my comment bc one long comment might get annoying 😅)
For sure, just added it to my list. Lol, I understand the split comments.
@@choosejay1497 Ok thank you :)
