Exploring Briolf Church and the restored 13th century tower

The Briolf hermitage is a charming religious building (12th-13th and 19th centuries) located in Sant Miquel de Campmajor, a small town in the region of Pla de l'estany, in Catalonia. The hermitage is located in a beautiful natural environment, surrounded by vegetation and mountains, providing a sense of serenity and peace.
The hermitage of Briolf presents a traditional and modest architecture, with a rural Romanesque style characteristic of the area. Its stone walls and tiled roof bear witness to its historic past.
The building consists of a single nave with a small semicircular head. The main entrance is marked by a pointed arch portal and an old wooden door, which gives it a touch of authenticity. Inside, the hermitage is simple but inviting, with bare stone walls and narrow windows that let in natural light.
One of the highlights of the Hermitage of Briolf is its square tower bell tower, which stands gracefully next to the main building. Its sober structure, with open windows on all four sides, allows you to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Sant Miquel de Campmajor Council has been the owner of the Briolf architectural complex since 2021. The construction belonged to the Diocese of Girona, but the council has reached an agreement to keep its ownership in exchange for taking on the recovery and conservation works.
The Diputació de Girona has granted the City Council a grant for the consolidation of the medieval Tower of Briolf. In this video you can already see the restoration of the tower which has cost 50,000 euros and the rehabilitation of the entire architectural complex will have an estimated cost of around 120,000 euros in total.

Also at the beginning we can see the De Can Prat Bridge in Sant Miquel De Campmajor and at the end we will enjoy the "Demon's Footprints" in the river Ser, a place that is currently very difficult to access.
