I am just discovering Super Dave, as I didn't see his work on cable in the old days. Today I found out he wrote for the Smothers Brothers, and now...it's all great. Yes, I know he was on Curb. I never knew how he was picked for the show...until today. These are all great.
I remember watching this when it aired. I was a little boy. I remember feeling so bad for SD, I almost started crying. Haha. I had no idea it was all part of the act.
They make a good duo... Me and my siblings would try and lay low key as to not remind our parents it was passed our bed time so we could watch this show .. It is timeless watching them again 40 years later there just as hilarious.. Thank u for posting this VHS recording ! Aloha
@@michaelcelani8325 Well according to this video, time stamp 1min22sec, ua-cam.com/video/T7YO4QTz4I8/v-deo.html he got them at the Beverly Hills Ralph's, the one on Beverly Drive.
We used to get high while in college in 1981 and for several years and watch Bizarre with John Byner. Super Dave would make us fall down in tears…god this guy was so deadpan and serious and Fuji and Mike Walden would just keep going and going … loved it immensely 🤘🤘🤘
I actually heard this joke on the tonight show. It was told by a Buddy but not Ebsen. Buddy Hackett told it to Johnny. But in the end Bob Einstein probably wrote it originally.
@@ihavefallenandicantreachmy2113 this is not caused by the heads this is caused by idiots thinking that are saving money by using the slowest speed on the VCR to record.
NBC Letterman was a terrible interviewer. If you weren't "in" on whatever his running joke of that show was, he just yukked it up without you. The problem with this interview in particular is that he can't stop laughing at Bob's SD bit, as though it was all new to him. That's understandable for an audience member, but malpractice for a host.

I love Super Dave! Love his deadpan!
Liked how they used dummy’s for his stunts
I love the look of hurt on his face when Letterman or audience laughs at him

When I was a kid I didn’t know he was a comedian. I knew he was funny but his deadpan delivery fooled me completely.
The you missed the 3 little Pigs? Oh you got a good one coming then
check out his cartoon on here - quite funny
He and comic actor Albert Brooks were brothers.
Maybe because it was one of the few good memories from childhood but the super one always cracks me up!!
How he maintains that deadpan look. I love it 😀.
I wonder if Super Dave ever guest hosted SNL
??? That would be absolute must see
😐
@@jonathanturek5846 absolutely 💯
I don’t know how he was able to hold back from laughing it times. It made what he did particularly brilliant!
My wife and I were laughing to the point of tears watching this. Just brilliant. Thanks for posting.
He made me cry with his deadpan face in the middle of bumbling everything he’s tried
Super Dave was must see stuff for me n my friends in the 80s!
Bob Einstein is one of the funniest guys to ever live
Dave Joe I just discovered Norm Macdonald on UA-cam, and he has re-turned me on to Super Dave. Love him!
Dave Joe
Chris Elliot is pretty well up there, too.
He was just Super.
Rip super dave

Bobs ability to stay serious was brilliant. Keep the duck!
Never heard of this until a few weeks ago. No idea how I missed him back then.
"your little stunts" wtf!!! I expected him to get up and leave lmao
Wonderful comedian, he always lifts be up when i'm down.
His comedic timing in delivery is hard to match. To reiterate what everyone else says, the deadpan is magical.
Man, Super Dave's appearances on Letterman are legendary.
Thomas Affolter - I think thats what made me keep watching Letterman.
Now do Charles Grodin. You're very welcome.

Just think, SD and Steve Martin wrote for the Smothers brothers which shows you why that show was so great back in the day!
I WONDER WHERE SUPER DAVE GOT HIS IDEAS FROM?
From Ralph’s
@@evandunbar5605 Which Ralph's? The one on Sunset Blvd or the one on Beverly Drive?
@@drServitis ... Probably the one on
Santa Monica Blvd.....or even on Pico.

RIP SUPER DAVE
Another Bernard Manning joke! SuperDave and Norm both tell them.
Super Dave shows that anything is possible.
Actually, Super Dave shows that almost nothing is possible.
He messes up once in a while.
Super Dave was a gas!🤣😂🤣😂
I actually heard this joke on the tonight show. It was told by a Buddy but not Ebsen. Buddy Hackett told it to Johnny. But in the end Bob Einstein probably wrote it originally.
I used to honestly think that Dave didn't like Paul, didn't like the audience and at times, didn't think much of Dave either.
Just wonderful! Very funny
Bob was the first, the legendary, the best influencer with the trump-zigzag puzzle present. 🐎
Jigsaw puzzle...
Fuk he's hilarious...his style is epic 😎
What a brilliant man.
It was buddy hackett. Love you Super Dave
Marty Funkhauser from Curb your Enthusiasm hahaha

True story. I began a fashion line. Super Dave consulted me. I am so thankful. I'm now in in escrow.😆😀😁😀😆😁😀😆

Thank you for knowing how to use the tracking
I think Super Dave is the legitimate successor to the 3 Stooges.
No Super Dave was funny
I was crying laughing
I love Super Dave's stink eye👍👍👍👍
you don't know what you've got till its gone.
If you still have this VCR please clean the heads.
It the "High Standard" Video Tape is worn out, then, "clean heads" matter, not or do they...... Who said it was "VHS" anyway. It might be "BetaMax"
Remember "SVHS". "Super" etc. The good ol' Dave's.

Super Dave is Albert Brooks' brother.
So Albert Einstein.... you really don't want to walk around with that burden .
Two deadpan comedians, amazing.
Aka Marty Funkhouser 😂
Wow super Dave and blooper Dave on same show! Screens not hardly big enough!
Great Audio Quality. Super, too.
Super Dave suffered from many mishaps
It was on the Tonight Show, and it was Buddy Hackett, of course ua-cam.com/video/aww4HT5g7ig/v-deo.html
Letterman always has to be centre of attention
"Ohh. No brakes."
i didn't know paul was a trump fan.
Albert or Bob? It's a tough call.

The K-cars suffered for his art.

Maybe a bit before as this is Riverside
Trump joke before it was cool
Trump has been the butt of jokes since the 80s. Unfortunately an entire 37% of the American population is too stupid to get the joke.
Do you know the date this aired?
"Late Night after party"
Just wondering.
brakes are important kids ~~...
Trump Magnus!!

Paul got the better gift😂🤣
I thought the book was called Just Do It because of the Nike logo lol
Lol? Was that supposed to be funny? Wow
No no, it was called Stunt Dog. And it was held together with genuine fire-resistant Saskatchewan seal skin bindings.
buddy ebsen, hehehhehehehh
Typical Lettermen, just let Super Dave tell the joke without interruptions!
thats the point its part of the banter routine between them and its genius
