Some of it is god given talent but a lot of it is being flexible, having good core strength, and being able to kinetic link your energy. Not that dissimilar from how martial arts folks get all their energy to break boards and such.
My brother is a coach and one time I hit 87 at 27 years old on the clock when I’d never done better than 65 or 68 thru the past 10 years, there was just something magical about that release
People are talking about “Oh he doesn’t have an accent” no he doesn’t. Both the talking with fluency and twang is all together both the South/MidWest. using nothing twang and fluency is our ACCENT
It kind of sounds like BS to me. I played sports my whole life and everyone who was a good pitcher as a kid in high-school was also good at everything else. Think about it. Matt Bush got signed to the rangers after clocking 95 in a Golden Corrall parking lot. If he could throw 95 without extreme practice and coaching he would be a savant. Doesn't pass the smell test to me.
95 mph heat from a lefty 25 years ago? Cannot believe some scout somewhere didn't hear about that... Then again Larry doesn't strike me as much of a bragger.
DirtyD You're saying that everybody he played with our against never said to him "Damn!! You're a lefty that throws smoke!!! What college are you going to or how many scouts are knocking down your door?" I call BS!!
It depends where the guy is pointing the gun...if he aimed at his release point it might show 95 where as it only hits the glove at 88 or so. It's like running a 40 yard dash in high school, a little human error can clock you at a 4.5 when you really ran a 5.1. That's why no one cares unless it's an official time on a 40 or a well respected scout behind the gun.
Cute story about baseball. Shoulda stuck with it. His astro-twin had a Hall of Fame career, but in a different sport... Basketball... Michael Jordan... February 17, 1963 🤓

Bro, you can definitely lose 40 mph off your throw if you haven't worked out or whizzed a ball in 30 years. There's a thing called muscle atrophy. You lose your strength, your vitality with age, and your rotator cuff can't torque like it could when it was 22. Sure, you can remember how to throw it, but the mechanics do change with age. Your body's not like a vintage car where you can tweak it and keep the same HP today as it did 40 years ago. Your body breaks down and can't perform as well anymore, especially once you hit ~35 years old. Just look at old NFL players. They have a shelf life of about 10-12 years before their stock has just about diminished. That's due to breakdown and age. I doubt he hit 95, but I'm sure- even as a Baptist college player- he could probably have hit mid-80s.
airtrafficking so, anecdotes. You known of one person who didn’t drop off as much as he got older, so NO ONE can drop off that much as they get older. Solid case.

Thank you sir👊
So nice to hear his real accent. It’s like we’re seeing the real him.
I wish he's make another movie. I love them all.

Who would of thought Larry was actually a baller 🤔😁
He looked like a small “Babe Ruth” in his college photo. lol
A 95 mph Lefty? Why didn't the coaches do more with him?
A left handed pitcher with a mid 90's fastball? Wow.

@@brasshouse-fireball If this was bullshit, you would think someone would have come out of the bushes from his past and said so.
@@jasonkane6156 if it was real you would think they would have found a teammate or a coach to talk about it.
@@brasshouse-fireball It's a legit argument, no question.
We need to talk! I love when!
shoots a basketball pretty good
Caaaaalocked😂😂😂
He went to like 17 different colleges

That shit was definitely not calibrated correctly
How can he have a 95 mph fastball and be a lefty and not know he was good?????? WTF
One simple word....exposure. Small christian schools typically don't get scout exposure on a high degree
Exactly. Scouts would fucking kill for a lefty throwing 90+ l.

You don't go from 95 to 52..even if your over 50..One my old buds who threw in Mid 90s back in the day still throws in the 80s
did your buddy still do stuff or workout at all cause larry eats and does comedy for like 30 years after the baseball not much working out

He did say he managed to clock 95 once. So it's very likely that wasn't his typical throw, and that he was usually a tad lower.
True. 52 mph isn't more than a lob. A guy who used to throw 95 wouldn't be able to throw 52 from 60 ft, 6 inches if he tried.
