That's what I thought - telephoto not as good. I remember getting a photo of an incident across the rivier Thames from Woolwich and a friend with their Note 20 Ultra did not have the reach or clarity of my S23 Ultra. I do use my long telephoto on my S23 Ultra.
Am using Note 20 ultra SD version, when watching this review, I did a blind test and asked people around me which photos looked better btwn S24u & note 20ulta. surprisingly they chose note 20 ultra pictures on most occasions.. Great video review!!!!
Front facing camera and telephoto shots were definitely the obvious winners here for the S24 Ultra. Some of the low light photos were better on the Note 20 Ultra but for majority of the low light photos, the colors were more natural on the S24 Ultra. Note 20 Ultra seems to have higher saturation/vibrancy overall. Most this stuff can be corrected with edits but I noticed a lot more details with the S24 low light photos. For me, I'm gonna stick with the Note 20 Ultra. Samsung is offering $550 trade in right now for the S24 Ultra but I'll ride this phone out til I need to upgrade.

I thought that my Note 20 ultra is old and that S24 ultra must be much way better. I was ready to change my phone to S24 ultra at the day when my phone stopped working. When my Note 20 display has died I already wanted to buy S24 ultra and watched it in stores. I couldn't understand why the differences between them are such small. It's been 4 years since i bought my Note 20. Yesterday i got my Note 20 with the new display from service center. Couldn't just throw it away and decided to repair. I watched S24 in stores and realised that Note 20 ultra is still strong, fast and good looking. In some ways Note 20 is better than S23 and S24. It looks more individual and unusual.
Note 20 ultra is the Goat! If u are good at using devices, you'll appreciate that phone. I gave it to my kid brother, and he's been creating contents i cldnt even imagine on that phone. I can't help but notice it seems samsung's real-life color representation stopped with the note 20ultra and s21ultra. I mean those colors were spot on. I've used all of them and just decided to skip the s24ultr as i do not like the color reps. Ill keep my s23ultra till it stops been suported i blv. I prefer the subtle curve screen anyways.
That's what I thought. I have the S23 Ultra and I tend to keep my phones for years. The only reason why would get a new phone is security, features I like and better performance. My previous phone which I still have is the S20 FE 5G. That phone like the Note 20 Ultra was great in it's own way and great value when I bought it back in 2020 with good discount. If I had the Note 20 Ultra instead, I would hold on for another year.
This is just about photo camera, ofc you got better speed in memories, and faster chips like from using mr beans' mini cooper vs AMG GTR, and a feature that nobody gets - AI
What a great comparison. Great job. I was debating the Note 20 Ultra as I cannot imagine a phone without the SD card and this being the last one; but I use the phone for a lot of my photography so that is also important . This made it easier to decide. I enjoy your comparisons

I still love my note20 ultra. The snapdragon variant. I get one security and performance update a month. Love it. I got the new bixby. Which ironically does the same things as galaxy ai. Minus the summarization tools. But google gemini does that. Got the homescreen features with samsung good lock. So. So far. Holds it's own.
S24 has better dynamic range so it handles highlights and cloudy skys better. S20 oversaturates which people like. Night time and selfi cam are superior also. That said the s20 holds up very well and is the last galaxy with sd card so i will go with that. Thank you so much for making all these videos. It really helps me buy with confidence! in some of the pictures the S24 Ultra's pictures look a little better but for a 4 year old phone like the Note 20 Ultra the pictures look impressive, I myself own a Note 20 Ultra and will keep the phone for a few more years.

13/5/2024. I'll stick with my Snapdragon Korean N20U 5G. Higher screen to body ratio, superb gaming and thermals performance, getting 6 to 7hrs+ of screen on time on normal/heavy use with games, 5G, HD calling and volteLte all working perfectly. Note is still the goat. Will be gladly upgrading to S26 Ultra, maybe

So the biggest differences are somewhat changed colours, less yellow for example. Adding more sharpening and more noise reduction. The phone camera market has stagnated.

@Soto-Tech2020 Yes, they are milking consumers who don't understand. I notice s20 added some colours sometimes. And have less sharpening. 90% change this to their liking in insta or whatever anyways. Its better to have less sharpening since you can't fix that in Photoshop. Used to follow every phone coming out last 15 years only because of the cameras, not anymore. Having s21 and prob change when s27-s29 comes there is no reason. Or might buy one with 1 inch sensor as soon as they stop adding overshapening as hell.
You are actually wrong, s24 ultra photos are looking more yellow/warm ,compereing to cooler note 20 ultra. Also you are wrong about oversharpening and noise reduction, cos s23u photos are more oversharpen with less noise.
@@lucaspanasski331 I Missed that part with s23u in this video. Using a calibrated editing screen more often s20u has more yellow and higher saturation. S24u boost other colours and lowering others so the black skin of him does not look yellow. I wrote s24u having more noise reduction = less noise?
I wont lie i have a note 20 ultra. Downside to it is the selfie camera videos and recoding videos indoors with both lenses. It struggles to focus when there is hardly any light. But once youre outdoors videos are perfect. Also i still find the note takes way better portraits than most phone that came out this year even the s24u 🙏🙏🙏
Note 20 ultra did very well, the differences are between more saturated photos on the 20 ultra and greater sharpness on the 24 Ultra, Samsung had time to work on the cameras of the 20 ultra and I believe that in the future of the S24 Ultra they will be much better.

I think what most people are missing here is that these are Ultra phones. When samsung makes an ultra phone, they literally go all out. So the differences won't be that big. It's like professional athletes vs. hobbyists. Although the phone is a few generations old. It was designed to be the best. So it still holds it own. For normal people, they don't pixel peep. People even think my note 20 ultra is an S23 ultra. For example, samsung released the camera assistant module in goodlock. You can literally change the note 20 ultras' camera performance.
The Note 20 Ultra performed well in most situations. It is not as good when doing long telephoto crops. When doing selfie in portrait mode, it is obvious that the Note 20 Ultra does not have the processing power to stabilize. Overall the S24 Ultra takes the honours. There are some updates coming to the S24U, so you may need to do new comparisons. @Soto-Tek, nice to meet you when you was recording this video. Probably see you again. 👍🏾
Yes, I would give the edge to the S24 Ultra but not enthusiastically. I got the update yesterday. Sadly and disappointingly not really seeing the improvements across the board I was hoping for, if any really. N20U seems to absorb ambient light better, which makes images more colorful and the sky more twilight, and it also seems to capture skin tone better. On the other hand, image processing in dark tones, shadows and contours seems better, the extra Megapixels seem to make the image cleaner in dark contours. The S24U's zoom and optical establishment are at a higher level.
I bought the S21 FE instead of this or S21 Ultra just because of software updates but can't help with feeling a bit guilty sometimes for not picking this yet stunning cameras instead

I have a Note 20 it only loses out at large zoom settings which I never use. A very useful comparison. The SD cards makes mine a keeper.

In all tests the Note 20 Ultra has been superior to other phones, it was even the last Note that allows storage with a micro SD card.

I'm still using it as my main phone too. It's been like this for most of the year. I need to fix the cracked back though.
My note20u is still solid in performance before I even trade it in for s24u.

So the biggest differences are somewhat changed colours, less yellow for example. Adding more sharpening and more noise reduction. The phone camera market has stagnated.

@Soto-Tech2020 Yes, they are milking consumers who don't understand. I notice s20 added some colours sometimes. And have less sharpening. 90% change this to their liking in insta or whatever anyways. Its better to have less sharpening since you can't fix that in Photoshop. Used to follow every phone coming out last 15 years only because of the cameras, not anymore. Having s21 and prob change when s27-s29 comes there is no reason. Or might buy one with 1 inch sensor as soon as they stop adding overshapening as hell.
@yamahaevo The problem is not really overshapening which you can also adjust post editing. For me personally, it's the exposure.
You are actually wrong, s24 ultra photos are looking more yellow/warm ,compereing to cooler note 20 ultra. Also you are wrong about oversharpening and noise reduction, cos s23u photos are more oversharpen with less noise.
@@lucaspanasski331 I Missed that part with s23u in this video. Using a calibrated editing screen more often s20u has more yellow and higher saturation. S24u boost other colours and lowering others so the black skin of him does not look yellow. I wrote s24u having more noise reduction = less noise?

I wont lie i have a note 20 ultra. Downside to it is the selfie camera videos and recoding videos indoors with both lenses. It struggles to focus when there is hardly any light. But once youre outdoors videos are perfect. Also i still find the note takes way better portraits than most phone that came out this year even the s24u 🙏🙏🙏

Note 20 ultra did very well, the differences are between more saturated photos on the 20 ultra and greater sharpness on the 24 Ultra, Samsung had time to work on the cameras of the 20 ultra and I believe that in the future of the S24 Ultra they will be much better.

I think what most people are missing here is that these are Ultra phones. When samsung makes an ultra phone, they literally go all out. So the differences won't be that big. It's like professional athletes vs. hobbyists. Although the phone is a few generations old. It was designed to be the best. So it still holds it own. For normal people, they don't pixel peep. People even think my note 20 ultra is an S23 ultra. For example, samsung released the camera assistant module in goodlock. You can literally change the note 20 ultras' camera performance.
The Note 20 Ultra performed well in most situations. It is not as good when doing long telephoto crops. When doing selfie in portrait mode, it is obvious that the Note 20 Ultra does not have the processing power to stabilize. Overall the S24 Ultra takes the honours. There are some updates coming to the S24U, so you may need to do new comparisons. @Soto-Tek, nice to meet you when you was recording this video. Probably see you again. 👍🏾
Yes, I would give the edge to the S24 Ultra but not enthusiastically. I got the update yesterday. Sadly and disappointingly not really seeing the improvements across the board I was hoping for, if any really. Already working on another (less in-depth) S24U vs S23U vs S22U camera comparison before and after the update. Hopefully, it will be ready for Monday or Tuesday. N20U seems to absorb ambient light better, which makes images more colorful and the sky more twilight, and it also seems to capture skin tone better. On the other hand, image processing in dark tones, shadows and contours seems better, the extra Megapixels seem to make the image cleaner in dark contours. The S24U's zoom and optical establishment are at a higher level.
