I loved this song during Opie's funeral....it still works in that context of MC brotherhood. But, after hearing the story behind it and re-listening to it, my jaw is on the floor. What an incredible tribute and now I want to listen to it all day with an even greater level of appreciation for it.
got to admit i only heard of this song through soa but the real story behind it is beautiful and soa if anything has brought the true reason to who wants to find it to the surface so its all good
The beauty of art is this. I hewrd it from SOA and I heard about the story behind the song too. I personally am very attached to this song. I have been going through some tough times lately, nothing seems to be going well in life. But I will not let my future go on without the help of my soul.
This song is very powerful, this guy is talented. I honestly have only heard it from SoA but I am sad that I didn't hear of this earlier. (Though to be honest I feel like SoA did do the song justice because the overall cinematography and atmosphere was just so well done that the power of the song was just so perfect.) Songs like this make me wish more music from other countries got popular in america. So much talent never heard because a lot of the same crap gets popular in the US.
I can say I knew this song was about a African child of war ...I posted it on a SOA video ..people attacked my comment saying it was done for the show..this guy is a great song writer and a incredible human being ..of course it would be Seattle that host him ..the future city..
Literally my encounter with this song, word for word. I thought it was moving in the show... but listening to it after hearing what it was about... man, it took my breath.
I admit I first heard the song on SoA - but it is obvious it's not about a fictitious dead biker. I believe that so many of the great & timeless songs out there are made truly great by the fact that people can relate to them on a personal level, whether or not that level relates to the artist's original intent. Congratulations on the intended success and the unexpected exposure, it's a great song, and the misinterpretation of it has inspired me to buy your album....
Even after hearing this dude's story about his song - which is awesome - I still find myself waiting for the "whhhoooaasshh" noise at the end of it, as the Reaper appears on the screen.
I first heard this song on SOA you should be grateful but it's an awesome song. One of my favorites but if it weren't for sons of anarchy I would have never heard of it
I watched the movie A Good Lie. I know how he felt not being able to do anything to help. Greg is lucky enough to have a good mind and a great voice. All I have is a fiver here n there.
Nope, not offended in the slightest. I based my comments on what he says in the intro to the song here, about how it really has nothing to do with poor ol' Ope. The rest is just praise for the song itself.
This is the most beautiful song. It brings me tears every time I listen to it. Maybe it’s your voice and and feeling it projects. I love it
Ten years ago.... and I can't recognize him! Love this song, thank you !
"i'll see you later brother"

I have only just discovered Gregs music and I must admit he is the best singer/songwriter I have heard in any years.

The most prime example of all -- Swift.

I know the song, didn't know the story behind it.
When its purpose works on so many levels, across so many fields, you know it's a winner. Thank you.

Anyone know the title of the book the song is about?
The book is called "What is the What" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_Is_the_What
Lewis Morrison
Just awesome, thank you! You've empowered me to check some book shops now!
