Not by a long shot, his spell is No 23 on the list: stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/bowling/best_figures_innings.html?class=2;id=1;type=team Paul Collingwood is the best, 6-31 against Bangladesh in 2005. Vic Marks had better figures himself only a year later, 5-20 vs New Zealand in 1984, a record which did stand for many years, until beaten by Mark Ealham's 5-15 in 2000. Since then there's been a deluge of 5-fers, and several 6-fers.
I never understood if they had a camera at both ends why did they insist on that stupid angle so the bowler is coming towards the viewer with the batsman in the foreground?
They did have cameras at both ends but one was for live transmission and the other for recording. May have been a cost issue, not sure. Piss poor from the BBC really
Because they used to think it was more interesting to have two different views of the action, just like you would do if you were actually at the ground watching the match. So one over you're watching from the bowler's end, and the next over you're watching from the batsman's end. It wasn't until 1989 that they decided to do the same thing they do in Australia of always showing it from the bowler's end.
@@gayanipalliyaarachchie8773 They did, because when they showed replays they showed it from the other end. It's because they thought it was more like actually being a spectator.
That squad was crazy - no left arm spinner as they hated Edmonds and no Dilley or Gatting. Yet Geoff Cook went as did Cowans (who did ok) and Pringle (who did not do ok)
@distantvoices Around 1982 Dilley was plagued with different injuries (neck mostly) which ruled him out of the 1982/83 tour. After the World cup he played in 1 test match v NZ and the test match v Pakistan in the winter of 1983/4. Dilley was then struck down by injury again and didn't play for England for 2 years.
VM was also the same person who broke up the Trio of Superstars...V Richards J Garner and I T Bottham @ Somerset in 1986...A wolf in sheep's clothing....Never to be Trusted.. 🤨🤔😏💥
I'm not so sure about that if John Emburey hadn't of been exiled Vic Marks wouldn't of played hardly a test he was a good one day bowler maybe he should of played more ODIs.
Top batsmen in 1980s of Lanka
Mendes, Roy dias, arjuna ranatunga, wettymuni, aravind desilva, gurusinghe, madugalle, mahanama.
Spectacular botham slip catch - timeless
Thanks for this up-load and great to see vic taking a fiver at lovely taunton!
If I'm not mistaken, these are still the best one-day figures by an England bowler in ODI cricket.

Had Madugalle batted sensibly....
With so much spin bowling in Indian subcontinent they fell to an ordinary spinner
Please England ining upload

Why didn’t Dilley go to Australia in 82-3?

Vic Marks was a very good off-spinner should've played more for England

It wasn't Vic Marks who broke up the holy trinity of Botham Garner & Richards it was Peter Roebuck
