Charles, thanks for sharing your videos. It’s 3:25 am here in Canberra, Australia. Just woke and got a YT notification. (I wake up early). I bought your GatageBand a few years ago and got half way through. Recently, because I’m starting to learn the guitar and wanted to record my practice sessions, I started watching your tutorials again. I must say your videos are part of my emergence as n Artist/producer. I studied sculpture at Art School, so I tend to treat my projects from a sculptural perspective. I work in IT, so I like to approach things as a project. I fully agree with on all the points you raised in this video, especially the timer to help me focus and to move on to doing other things. Learning music theory and understanding harmony is definite bonus. Practicing your instrument everyday is a definite must. Watching you video on using loops was fun 🤩 I don’t have Logic Pro but GarageBand on the iPad has a few Logic Pro features. I’ll send you a link to a piece produced earlier this week as soon as I set up my Soundcloud account… do you have a video on the best cloud distribution options.
Thanks a lot for the kind feedback, I’d love to hear one of the projects you’ve been working on. Feel free to send it to me. I’m very glad to hear you enjoyed the GarageBand course. Hopefully soon you’ll be able to dive into Logic! Happy to help im anyway. By the way, for distribution. SoundCloud and UA-cam are great free options but TuneCore and Distrokid could help you get on the streaming services too: ua-cam.com/video/TG9-qOeuHvg/v-deo.html
Great video Charles, as always! I'm in the process of setting up a home studio type of thing, but am still working on my guitar and keyboard skills before I commit anything to tape. I have Logic Pro so I find your tips especially useful, I have had quite a few goes with it but where I am still waiting on my own instrumentation and vocal skills to develop have really only ended up creating EDM type stuff - but at least I am getting to know the DAW a fair bit.. I also purchased an online course which was very good detailing the use of compression, EQ, reverb etc - like you mentioned here. Thanks again for your great content - your stuff is very professional
Hi...friend! Congratulations for all your wonderful explanations! It helps us a lot! Thank you so much for your kindness! "Have a happy day! And a" sweet life"... You and your whole family! God bless you...Thank you!
Great video ! For us that we are starting now, are 1.000 (one thousand) hours enough to reach a relatively pro technical level of competency ? (Inspiration is another thing) . ( That means 1,5 hours / day for 2 years).
I’d say it’s enough to reach a very competent level. You’ll notice the 500 to 1000 hours that you pack on your base of 1000 is really when you start to become “pro”
Hi thank you for your videos I wanted to reach out and ask you do you have any tutorials on exporting files from GarageBand into Ableton intro 11? I'm super green I'm still learning I'm starting songs in GarageBand and rolling Zen Beats and would like to finish them in Ableton any help I would greatly appreciate thank you for all your time

My newest song: ua-cam.com/video/cLprypv5OeQ/v-deo.html My coolest video: ua-cam.com/video/jYUtd7gxclc/v-deo.html I started about 6 months ago just by watching your videos! I'm in Recording Arts at Full Sail and am WAY ahead of the curve because of you. Thank you.
I play lead bass. (I know less is more), but im trying to do a bass band, lead bass, rhythm bass, and bass as bass. Way to much lo end, gets all muddy, especially since I like BIG meaty drums. I want to merge riffs and cords in and out of each instrument. I have some parts sounding okay( not good because the mixing and after production is above my skill set. And im still learning the software controls. I bit off more than i can chew.
🙋🏼♂hi everyone, here are my 6 Pillars to Learning Logic Pro Faster (FREE): www.charlescleyn.com/learn-logic
I’m beginning to realize that the studio is an instrument, and it needs study and practice just like any instrument. Good ideas here!
Great pointsJoseph
As a beginner, your videos are really helpful to start producing. Thanks a lot!
I really appreciate that Yann, thanks for stopping by. There's lots more on the channel too :)
This is great. To produce at least 15 minutes every day. That's HUGE. 🙏
I agree, thanks for stopping by to watch Richard.
Sincere and honest sharing these information... very good delivery. Thank you!!!
You're very welcome, thanks for watching.
Share the current music you're working on in a comment, I'd love to hear it 🎵↓
Alway bringing Knowledge...God bless Cleyn!

Do you know a book with exercises to learn music production?
Great video by the way

Loved to see the intense sincerity in you wanting to share your knowledge. God bless you. Do you have any tutorial on comping of vocals?
Thanks a lot Garuda, I do have a tutorial on mixing vocals here: www.charlescleyn.com/blog/how-to-mix-vocals

Sorry if my comment came through twice, it’s not showing when I post. I think it won’t let me post a link to SoundCloud though.

Hey Rich, cool idea for a band but I can see what you mean with the low end.
