The saddest thing about undertale is that even if the same sans comes back to life over and over again that doesn’t mean that the other unaware characters, including papyrus, are the same because as far as we know the papyrus, and other unaware characters, we all know and love could not be the original classic(s) and the original classic(s) could be long gone and dead, causing them to not remember and be unaware because they are never the same person after they die, so in reality the only original classics are the demo ones that the devs tried out long ago. Toriel takes over but the monsters want vengeance on Frisk for leaving so Undyne takes over and Toriel is put back in the ruins. Eventually the core fails and monsters are starving. After Grillby started to be burnt alive by his own fire sans started to try to help. Eventually Alphys told Undyne that they had to kill sans to bring the core back. Undyne attempts to kill sans and take his magic eye, putting it in the core, but sans doesn't like that and destroys half of Undyne's face, nearly kills Alphys and because he's petty destroys the core and any chance the monsters have of surviving peacefully. Monster food is no longer being made and sans is imortal due to his eye in the core. Eventually monsters starve and begin to eat humans that fall down for survival. Aliza falls down. Toriel goes insane and tries to poison and drug the human before ordering sans to kill her. Aliza comes back and survived.

Well, yes it is the players fault. The game was created that way but the game didn’t force you to kill monsters. Killing monsters and choosing the genocide path, was your decision. Sure, it could influence you to kill everyone at times, but it never made you do it. If you did a pacifist route and then left the game, you could leave them with their happy ending!! ❕

Sans, she would pick the child’s side. Especially if they are fighting. Toriel gave up the kingdom to live in the ruins to await for humans she never even met yet, which says a lot, especially if she locked herself away from monsters to be more with humans. This could also be a reason why she is more bias towards monsters, and picks frisk’s side first. Hence why she lashed out!
