Hola G, I fell in love with the place. I cannot wait to move there. I have 8 more months to go on my lease here, and then, I AM OUT OF HERE TO LIVE IN MORELIA. Stay tuned, Best, Bill
Good info. looking forward to visiting MZT soon. And found Guadalajara was too cold for me in January - otherwise I would surely be there. Is Ajiiic cold in Jan as well?
Howdy Joy, Yeap, that whole area, GDL, Ajijic, Chapala, it real chilly in the winter. That was shocking for me when I left Puerto Vallarta and moved to GDL, 47 at night..... Wow..... but the shocking thing is that it goes up to a 90 degree dry heat every day. Good luck with your looking around, Bill
I feel much better, but I am at about 99% now, but thanks for sharing. I have not been to Cabo, I will go there this year, or before I move to Morelia. Thank you very much, Bill the Geek
Thanks Bill for the video, I agree with you. Anywhere I've visited in the world, I like the downtown's, I love the energy the vibe and the convenience of everything being within walking distance, and while I love the beach, I can do without the humidity.
Yeap, November to April is a dream, but outside of that,,,,,,, Wow, and I was here last year at this time, this is much hotter than last year. And much more humid.
@@BillDallasLewis Just 5 hours east of Mazatlán is the capital city of the State of Durango. It’s called Durango. Weather is just perfect all year. You are already going to Morelia in Michoacán but for anyone that follows you I would recommend the city of Durango. Besides perfect weather, it’s one of the the safest cities in Mexico.
I lived in Mazatlan for 18 years overall, including the last year. I agree. It’s too HOT for too much of the year. We’ll be snowbirds. I also agree about Morelia. Say hola to my friends, Steve Immel and Mike Byfield, who both live there.
Thanks Bill, I enjoy your opinions. I'm retired producing music videos and that can be done anywhere, even here in Canada we can hibernate, who says bears are dumb? haha We have been in Mexico and I would have relocated in a heartbeat but the Janet did not want to. Now that she has passed away, the door has opened again. Keep up the good work Bill, I am sure everyone enjoys your videos. Bye - Joe Schumacher music.
Wow rent at the prices of $1200 - $1500 is very expensive that's U.S prices. The only way I can see spending that for rent is if everything included fully furnished, gas & electric and internet. The worst thing about those high prices is that they price most Mexicans out. I know expats are looking to escape the states but don't make it hard for the people whom live their to afford to live in their own country and hard for others looking to come on a strict budget; afford to live there.
To be fair Lenora, I bet you can find places cheaper than that, but I am very picky. And I know for half of that I can live somewhere else very well. Best, Bill
Before I hear your speech, I already KNOW you don't like the HEAT in Mazatlan, but, Bill, you have to ADOPT to that heat. Certainly, go out during the hottest time of the day and JUST STAND THERE. Soon, it won't be hot at all - you'll adapt!!!! I like the shopping center there - at least they have A/C and the people couldn't be more wonderful. I remember on HOT days I take my long walks late in the day and walk less during the hot late mornings.
@@allyson1691 I'm just pulling Bill's leg a bit - it does get hot there in Mazatlan, but I"m in Phx. and it's worse here. They always have Mexican tourists visiting Mazatlan much more than American or Canadian and off season I don't see any gringos there at all unlike Puerto Vallarta. Summers, You cannot even leave your dogs outside here in Arizona!!!!!
What a joke… rent at $1,200 to $1,500 in Mazatlan. I’m paying $200 for a new, fully-furnished, 1-bedroom apartment with a 50 inch Smart TV, a washing machine, free water and Internet and the only utility bill I pay is electricity for $58 a month. It’s super cheap in Cambodia. Beer is $1 at restaurants and mixed drinks are $2.50. My retirement visa lets me stay for 1 year at a time. If you can deal with 85-90 degrees farenheit and 70-90% humidity you’ll be fine.
I am about to start hitting ome real icebergs in North NV. And turning 54 in Nov. Not what I expected. And even harder watching Bill hog up all the precious rich Sun. All I get icey grey clouds. I need to make it to Mazatlan this year. I want God to hear my prayer and make the U.S. stop blocking the Sun.😢
Good for you. You are living the life and it is so affordable for you. Your money is going such a long, long, long, way. All I can do for you is congratulate you and give you a big thumbs up. Best, Bill
Gotta get my house sold if I'm to be living in Mexico, so I hope that happens. We do have an ideal location and I love being on the golf course - my dogs get a work out. I'll definitely let you know if I go through your area - often, I stop around Mazatlan.
Drop me a line before you get here, I stay on the road a lot and when the weather gets cooler, I will be on the road most of the time. Good Luck with the house. Best, Bill
@@BillDallasLewis I grew up in Houston. It was simply just cheap to travel there. I was born in Catania, Italy. We moved to Houston when I was just a kid. It was the first major family vacation. Driving 😳. Unfortunately, my mother passed away in 2007 and my siblings and I went back and bought a place, after a couple years of looking. Be well sir. Great content. The only suggestion I would have is to look at a “Realtor “, for a lower monthly expense.
Hi D, I visited Mazatlan and I really liked it. But, I have been in Mazatlan for 1 year now, and I visited Morelia, and I really love that place, so I am moving there in 9 months. So many great places in Mexico. Best, Bill
Hey Bill - I've been thinking about Mazatlan as a retirement option for those 6 months out of the year. You said you lived in PV for 10 years. Is Mazatlan really that much hotter & more humid? I thought it was actually LESS humid than PV.
Hola H, If you are going to be in PV or Mazatlan for 6 months, the good months, you will be fine and you will love both places. I was here in Mazatlan last summer, and this summer it was much more hot and humid. I have talked to many of my Mexican friends that are from here in Mazatlan and they say the have never had a summer this hot and humid. You will be fine if you are only here for 6 months, the good months of the year. Mazatlan is a great place. Best, Bill
Good assessment of the area IMHO Bill. I agree that Centro is the place to be as say. It is the real Mexico of Maz. Look forward to seeing future vids Happy trails Bill.
Hi SR, I moved to Guadalajara, GDL, after I had lived in Puerto Vallarta for 10 years. I lived in a great location. I could walk to markets, many of them, minutes. It was great. GDL is a great place. I stayed there for 4 years. And, the climate was wonderful. I got there in the winter, so moving there from PV was very different. I had to put on sweaters and hoodies at night, but it was warm and sunny and zero humidity everyday. If you can find the right location in GDL that is walk around friendly, then it is a great place. But in some spots, you will need a car or many taxi rides. The. local bus system is very good. Best, Bill
Bill, why did you sign a 2 year lease instead of a 1 year lease, was it because you knew prices would increase and wanted to lock -in a price, ? because with your experience in Puerto Vallarta, I'm sure you already knew of the heat.
Hi there, I signed a 2 year lease because that saved me $150 per month for 2 years. I live in GDL and Chapala for about 8 years, I forgot about the heat. Thanks for asking. Best, Bill
Hi Princess, I really think that it depends on where you live or better said, what city you live in. I think that in lots of not so well known cities, prices have been pretty level. In well known cities that a lot of people of moving to, those prices have gone up a lot. I think in Morelia, I can get a nice one bedroom, one bath for about $450 per month. I think I can get a very nice 2 bed, 2 bath for around $600 US or less. Have a great day, Bill
