Cut every dollar. You don't need a paid budget app when you're in debt.
No Telestrations, either!
Everything she did on the video is on the free version. As a beginner having a budget helps you be aware of where your money is going. Just because you don’t need it or don’t like it doesn’t mean you should waste your time hating on it. Everyone is different you just gotta find what system works best for you
@@nicolecruz7561 I just meant cut the premium version. Would help get them out of debt faster.
@@nicolecruz7561 Agreed, it's totally worth it if it saves you hundreds of dollars every month even if it did cost a few bucks!
I always enjoy your content, but there is one area where I disagree with your advice. You literally said that the one thing missing from her budget was giving and you were adding in the 10% for that and then in the moment your saying she had to cut out spending on Christmas gifts. In this case giving to her loved ones may be more important to her than giving to a church or random charity. I realize how good it feels to be able to donate to a cause important to your heart, but it's equally important to some people to participate in holiday traditions with family.
As a Christian, which Rachel boldly says she is, we are to give the first 10% to God, so I don't see Rachel ever leaving that out. It's a priority thing that keeps your heart remembering where we believe our money comes from. That's not what everyone believes, but I appreciate that she doesn't change her stance on that.
Islamically we give 2.5% to the poor of all surplus wealth saved for a year to the poor.. so get where Rach is coming from
@@samanthabradley4699 God does not demand that we give 10%, sorry. We are simply to give from the heart. People like Dave and Rachel could, and maybe should, be giving MORE than 10% while someone who is drowing in debt should probably be giving way less. It is up to each individual to give what they feel led to give.
@@rebeccaotis8056You are referring to offerings, which is different from tithing, tithes are repeatedly and consistently shown as 10%.
To all the people saying 10% tithing is mandatory due to religious reasons, Rachel straight up said in one of the Dave Ramsey shows that if you don't have the money to tithe, then you don't have to and can always do it when you feel comfortable or have the money. I'm pretty sure all these youtube channels are technically still owned by the Ramsey business so I'm assuming she's just following whatever the culture of the company follows. It's like when George got chewed out by Dave for saying something contradictory on "his" UA-cam channel.
I don't understand how you can just triple your side hustle just by "working more." If I could do that I'd be working 80 hrs/week.
I was recommened this because I watch Caleb Hammer but had to hit the dislike for $300 to church. Giving? You're in 50k debt, you're the poor. Give it to your debt fund.
Exactly. You cant give to charity when you ARE the charity. Its literally working against your prayers to not put the blessing of $310 a month towards debt or emergency fund.
Lower the 10% giving and tackle the debt. When she's out of debt she will be able to give more than 10% when she's truly able to!
It’s tithing, usually for religious reasons
They believe in tithing even if you’re in debt
Yep, it’s a very legalistic way of looking at religious values. I’d stop giving money too
I guess it really doesn’t matter what the Ramsey family believes when it comes to their tithing. Rachel just added $310 to this woman’s debt, now called tithing. Nix the giving and concentrate on giving to yourself to get out of debt. THEN be generous. She’ll be out of debt a lot faster, $310 x 12 is a LOT of money in this budget. Rachel did a great job in helping her see the end of the road. Put that $310 to debt FIRST. 😊
@@tenajones2841 well to be fair to Rachel it’s titled how I would budget $55,000 dollars as in Rachel so idk why ppl are shocked
You can give your time!! If you’re watching this, remember that. You don’t have to prove your worth to a god by cutting a check.
Exactly. Working against your prayers by giving away the $310 a month to charity when you ARE the charity is the oppsite of being thankful for the blessing of having that kind of money.
Planning a wedding while 55k in debt smh just go to the court house dear.
Exactly. Or wait until you are out of debt
Love this! I’d love to see someone without debt who doesn’t make crazy good money to see if we’re inline with where we should be
This is me, no debt, average income, single person. Would gladly share!
I understand that she is trying to budget, but not all people can give $310 for church tithe!!.. I love the Lord, and the Lord loves me, but I would have cut some of that church ⛪️ tithe money. I give what I can
It's based on conviction, I don't believe the Bible says what we have to give. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
Its a blessing to have $310 a month to go towards debt. Giving it to charity when you ARE the charity is working against your prayers.
Call me crazy but if I can’t participate in Christmas I would be resentful of the 300 I gave away every month.
It's only for a season. It really depends on how bad and fast you want to get out of debt.
@@cletusthemysterious I think what @trainboy192 is saying is that if she is getting rid of Christmas she should get rid of tithing as well. Which I do agree with, or at least choose Christmas over the tithe.
@@rayfusionThat’s a scary thought.
Choosing Christmas over tithing?!?!? You’ve got your priorities all wrong!
@@stephaniepaul3885 Yup, if I were in debt and had the option to chose between giving to my family and friends or tithe. Sorry but I'm picking giving to family and friends all day.
I love your videos. The only things is i can't understand is how is ok to give away $310 every month in her situation. Does $310 i will put it on her debt. She works her b off, she needs to compromise and work more and yet she needs to give 10% of what she makes. Call me crazy, but i don't think she should be giving away right now, when she is debt free Yes!!!. Maybe $50 per month but not $310
Why wouldn't giving be 310$ for giving. I'm def not on board with that either 0 for giving 100 for Xmas
These videos are great, really. But I would like to see someone who done their debt-free scream, what their everydollar budget looked like for the time they paid off their debt, a real scenario from the past. We budget for 2 years and it never works out to the dollar, not even the 100 sometimes. We make good progress, we do better than we thought 1 year ago, but I am curious if we do something worse than others or this is really good and I just chase an unrealistic goal each month.
New to the channel...not digging the message.
"Work more"
The idea that someone can just triple their side hustle is bonkers to me. And I’m all for charity and giving, but if you’re in a place where you’re working every moment of your life and giving up everything that brings joy… perhaps this is a season to focus on herself. Generally I love the videos, but you totally lost me on this one.
Exactly. This person is in no position to give to charity, wen they ARE the charity.
Postpone the wedding.
Yes to cancel crossfit.
Decrease emerg fund savings.
Decrease Church tithe.
Not necessarily able or wiling to increase her income at this point.
If she can't afford Christmas, why should she be tithing?
It’s so hard to see people have 50k in student debt for an MA job. There are many on the job training opportunities!
Rachel....your videos are helpful and we do need to tell you more
I get the tithing but i would cut it back to 5% increasing the side hustle may be difficult as she is planning a wedding. You dont need a fancy wedding - the marriage is what matters. We dont do Christmas gifts. Millennials always seem to have something to sell - i sure dont as ive had it for 10 years ir more 😊 good luck
Instead of upping her side hustle. I would volunteer to cover the giving.
I agree her side hustle is a bit low. 4 to 5 hrs a day on a 2nd job or for 20 hrs a week even Mcdonalds crew in my rural area get 12 an hour. After taxes thats like 850 to 1000 per month depending on how much your state taxes are (TN has no state taxes).
The other option would be to push the wedding date out farther if possible to lower the amount shes having to save for it.
Adding 600 just in side hustle even if she keeps xmas saving adding tithing/giving allows for an extra 190 a month. Obviously more money available if not giving or giving time instead of money.
Lastly, she could go to a different gym instead of 170 a month for cross fit. planet finess is 10 a month. She can always do cross fit when the budget gets better.
Tracy that’s amazing. Especially the giving part making it volunteer.
Negative in debt, giving 300 to the church and 0 to Christmas is WILD.
She says you can’t afford to save 100$ for Christmas but adds 300$ for donation. Is she high or what?
I HIGHLY AGREE.. omg
it's her religious belief. it's fine if you don't agree, but you don't have to be insulting. I paid off $108k of debt in 3 years and am now debt-free (except my mortgage).and ALWAYS gave my tithes/offerings. I thank God for helping me to get out of debt and chose to keep Him first.
@@Charlenedoesstuff but this is not her debt it’s the person she’s doing it for. She just assumed she has the same religion as her?
She didn’t cut that $300 for the wedding either. How much does it cost to get married by the justice of the peace in someone’s backyard ? I mean are you marrying the person you love or are you trying to put on a show for people that just want to go to the party and eat your expensive cake ?
@@staceyguillory5276 facts
For the people criticizing the 10% giving, I wouldn’t do it either, but remember this is a video on how Rachel would do it. Everyone has different priorities so don’t take it personally. You need to adjust your budget based on what matters to you. Even if she didn’t do the giving and instead left the CrossFit or Christmas as it’s something that matters to the person, she still wants us to see the importance of building the emergency fund and then attacking the debt
Cant quickly build the emergency fund if you are giving away $310 a month to charity....when you ARE the charity.
Thank you for a super helpful video.
I find it ridiculous how you guys prioritize giving 10% over paying off debt or even getting your company 401k match.
If you don’t give when you’re poor you’ll never do it when you’re rich! I’ve never regretted giving 10%
@@joelplatt2651 There's a difference between being poor, and drowning in debt. Help yourself by getting out of debt, and give till your hearts content.
@@joelplatt2651couldn’t have said it any better myself. This stuff works and has for me and my family. Just have to be fully committed and determined
I agree. Once her debt is paid off… THEN she can give freely. But that amount Rachel is allocating is too high right now
@@joelplatt2651Who are you actually giving to? What's being done with the money?
Great! I have an idea -- how about rent wedding dress instead of buying one. Unless if she'd like to keep it as a ...
This is crazy she was only twenty-three dollars over budget before you made her give 10% which put us $300 over budget. To tell someone to give 10% of their income when they are over-budget is Ludacris and irresponsible you should be ashamed of yourself.
I said the same. She literaly bad a bad thing worse. You cant give to chsrity when you ARE charity.
It is the little daily things we do that makes a difference. It adds up. Money saved is money you can use for something you want. Debt needs to go.
This was the most fun episode to watch.
Hey guys from the Rachel Cruze Show nice that you activly erase these bots/scamms comments from your videos. 🙏
Tax debt?!?!
$170 for Crossfit is painful.
And tithing is more important than Christmas.
I’m trying to get my hustle on, but my back is killing me after moving, But I will be back on the hustle to clear up some debt, with overtime I can get with overtime 6K plus every two weeks
stop tithing. make up for it later.
Chick doesn't have money and the first thing Rachel does is give to the church lol. FAIL
She wasnt even but a few dollars over budget until the money was allocated to charity. Its really bad for someone to give $310 a month to charity when you ARE the charity.
Oh my, a lot of people are triggered by the 10%. There is no 10% police here. You don't want to give your 10% than don't. We Christians understand that no matter what situation we are in, that God will provide. So we give 10%, because that teaches us to rely on God. If that's not a priority to you or your family, or you have more pressing things use your discretion.
Close, you're Rachel LOL
There are several other items that can be trimmed. Cut the dog food budget in half to $60/mo. or get rid of the dog and get another one later. Eliminate the $20 ID theft protection for now. If you have accounts in collections, your ID is not valuable to thieves. Switch cell phone to Mint Mobile and save $10/mo. Cut back on car maintenance - unless you're getting monthly oil changes, it shouldn't cost $30 every month. There, I just saved you another $100 a month.
“Get rid of the dog” wow 😯
Car maintenance is super important to beef up because of unexpected emergencies, getting new tires, etc.. that runs hundreds of dollars.
No one will get rid of their dog come on lol
Pets are not something that people can or should be able to "get rid of" easily. Would you tell someone in debt to get rid of their child because the kid eats too much? No, you wouldn't. For a single woman she is probabably very emotionally attached to that dog, it is her family, her (I hate to say it, but it does emphasize the emotional bond) "child", posibly even a source of protection or at the very least sense of security. Linda, if your first thought is "get rid of the dog" then please, don't ever get a pet.
Smh get rid of the dog really animals are family it’s people like you who don’t even deserve a animal
Realistic lifestyle budget
Rachel, it’s too bad you have no experience in helping people getting out of debt- according to the comments? Lol
This woman is legitimately outrageous, as is the Ramsey method. But we can buy this dumb game and spend $20 a month on a budgeting app when endless options exist.
