They keep trying to put us into a cubbyhole and make us limited on what we can do when we’re older don’t they? Thank you for doing this because you showed that we don’t have to go into those stereotypes. Sending you a lot of love and take care.
I think a lot of those "rules" are incredibly outdated. Formulations, skincare and overall knowledge about how to apply makeup has come lightyears from even a decade ago which allows women to have so many more options no matter what their age. The one rule of shimmer eyeshadow should be forbidden if you are over 40 is absolutely ridiculous. If anything women need eyeshadow that has a little reflective light (pearl, shimmer, etc.). All matte shadows look outdated and aged on older skin. It's all about application and balance. I am in my mid-50's and I use a combination of matte and shimmer shadows. Also an eyeliner with a little pearl also brightens the eyes. I will always stand firm on this rule. Now, teen glitter.....is for a special occasion, non-work occasions, etc.
Great tips, Laura. My eye doctor tells his female patients not to tight line in their waterline, because the health of our eyes is paramount. He said the waterline is there to lubricant and support the health of the eye, and overtime, it could lead to dry eye. Have a wonderful weekend! ❤
I'm 68 and I wear what I like! I've never done tight lining because I'm squeamish about that and I've recently heard that it's not good for your eyes. I tend to mainly use powder products in the summer as they're less likely to melt off my face ❤
Excellent points Laura. I agree with you, so much of what “they” advise against for us mature women actually should apply as common sense for anyone who wears makeup. Shoot, the older I get, the more annoyed I am with all the rules that somebody keeps establishing for women of a certain age, and the more inspired I am to see my sisters who dare to do their own thing!❤
That Revlon tool...pure genius! I ordered a few weeks ago on your recommendation. Where has this tool been all my life? I also agree with the points you brought up in this UA-cam. Love your content, and you have helped me so much! Ty!
I love a shimmer eyeshadow for evening, but I don’t like glitter. I shop for a satin finish eyeshadow which are harder to find. As far as foundations, I love my tinted moisturizer and I top it with Laura Gellar's powder foundation. I like that it evens out my skin tone & gives me just a little glow.
I agree with what you said about everything ! I like a little shiny eyeshadow but definitely not the chunky glitter. As long as I keep the shine on my lid and not in my crease it looks amazing ! I also can’t live without powder ! I personally use the Laura Geller baked foundation too and I love it ! It’s perfect for my skin and I never feel like it dries me out. I always use a moisturizing sun screen under it and it works great for me. I think makeup rules should just maybe be guidelines. You can always go lighter in the application of a product and make something work, just like you demonstrated ! The trick is to be subtle, not clownish ! Thanks Laura Rae for another great video !!! 💕💕💕
❤❤❤I agree with you! Glitter is great as long as there’s no fallout. I’m still combo oily so I do a Matte everything but I use a setting spray that gives me a glow. I will definitely follow your tip about no longer tight lining.
I agree with the commenter below-wear what you like! It’s great to get tips and advice, though, on how to wear things to look the most flattering! I’m over 60, and I love the Colourpop jelly much shadows. They’re very colorful, illuminated looking, with some glitter, but can also be worn sheer, which is how I wear them. I think I break every rule that was in the article you read! 😀 Thanks for a fun and interesting video! !
You make some excellent points. Im over 60, and the only thing I do absolutely avoid is tight lining as I already suffer from dry eyes. I also find contouring unnecessary as I have hollow cheeks due to aging and weight loss, but I do like to use bronzer to warm up the face. I agree with others' comments, do what looks good on you and ignore age based rules. However, as you say, skin prep, application techniques, and tools are key in achieving good results.
I love this video!! I like shimmer shadow but not glitter so much. I bought the Revlon tool you recommended & as long as I remember to use it I love it😂 I’m going to try the eyeliner trick, I have really hooded eyes so I usually don’t use it,but, your eyes look so good! Thank you Laura Rae❤️🌺🦒
Great video. I love the Mally Poreless Face Defender:. It is remarkable how well it takes away shine and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. Thanks again for a great video. Blessings to you from Texas.
Hi Laura, You look beautiful in all of your videos - but today's look is especially stunning! Wow! Thank you so much for these informative tutorials - you're such an inspiration!😘🤗💞
Hi Laura! Just wanted to tell you that brow colour on you looks fabulous as does the liner! Never thought to pair the Cover Girl ( which I purchased on your recommendation and love!) with Ilia - certainly going to give that a whirl! I’m 67 and as far as I’m concerned there are ‘no’ rules I do what looks good on me and makes me feel good!
Hi Laura, I love the Pyunkang Yul line of skincare. I use the cleansing balm every day and will try the cream you recommended. I love glitter and shimmer on my eyes. I agree with you that Natasha Denona has great glitter shadows. I tried the Sigma lipstick you recommended and it looks beautiful. I like it better than Charlotte Tilbury.
Your advice is so balanced and well thought out - a good mix of technique tips and product recommendations. You are a natural born teacher! Thanks Laura Rae!
This was a “master class” in making these products work on mature skin. Great job! Followed your links, and I’m ordering the moisturizer and the jelly tool. Thanks for another great video!
Hi Laura, it’s Jennie. How are you? What do you think of the new Elf foundation? I love it. I just wanted to know what you thought because I trust your opinion. Have a great day. Love, Jennie.
Thank you for doing this. I see some products here that I actually stopped using due to not really knowing how to apply it. I really have to master the “covering those dark circles”. Your makeup looks great. ❤
I turned 60 in June! I wear what I think looks good, not what others like. Age does have its advantages!😂 I’m having a hard time finding a good exfoliant. They either aren’t strong enough or way too strong. What do you recommend?
Hi Laura, I think you should wear what you like. If the makeup product looks pretty on you, then enjoy wearing it. Thank you for the fun video! xo Karen
Just wanted to let you know the revolution skin silk is not causing any problems with my skin and I’ve been wearing it daily. I’m still using the Alana Mitchell sun screen I love that and I don’t have any problem with it. I also use the bee naturals with my concealer. Love your recommendations. I’m going to try the barrier cream. Thanks again.
I love the Physician's Formula liquid eyeliner in brown for years exactly how you use it here! I also love a shimmer eyeshadow. I don't care what they say! Lol! I could do, personally, without matte foundation. It doesn't do much for me. A satiny finish looks better. I love the Haus labs one.
I’m so behind on watching all your makeup videos as hard as I try to catch them. I was wondering if you liked the Revlon jelly blender. Thanks for sharing how you like using it. 😊
Hi Laura Ray, l have picked up a few new foundation, but some powder foundation does make my face look cake but do stay away from those ones, l bought the Sephora foundation, l love it, l didn't think l would look very good with that one but it looks good, because I do buy the high end ones, like Haus Labs, l love that one, but the sephora one looks really nice on me, l wear makeup every day, so l like to try new ones to see how they look on me, because I am 65 years old, hugsssss ❤❤❤
Hi Laura I don’t think we should be told we can’t wear whatever we want to. Although I am personally extremely dry skinned not everyone is even in their fifties or beyond. Some women have oilier skin their whole life and can’t imagine not using powder to combat shine. Despite being really dry I still use an extremely light dusting of powder in the t zone, but finishing powder is so much better for me than a traditional setting powder as it’s more finely milled and less mattifying. I still like shimmery and metallic eyeshadow on the lid with a duochrome or even extremely fine glitter shadow on occasion. Just a little placed very strategically can look amazing on older eyes. I also still use highlighter when I want extra glow, although I mostly use liquid or cream as I’m so dry. I have always had dry skin so matte foundation has never been my preferred choice, but matte can disguise texture better and as stated before will still work on oilier skin. I don’t like a darker brow on myself, but I never have at any age as I am ultra pale with naturally very blonde brows. I do tint them to match my hair colour better, but not dark. I do think softer makeup does look better on older skin, but if someone loves bright colours and feels great in them then they should wear them and not pay any attention to others who think they’re too old😂. It’s all about how we feel about ourselves in whatever we wear after all, whether it’s glitter or matte or whatever else we’re told we can’t wear. You’ll pry my black mascara out of my cold dead hands despite being really pale and ashy blonde. I don’t like brown mascara and don’t want to wear it (although I do like navy blue), so I wear black mascara as it really emphasises my eyes. Best wishes x
I turned 61 in July. I started using my fingers so it melts into my skin. I found using brushes leaves streaks when using foundation so with that I went to a damp sponge.
Die I had to look in your more detail to find out where you got your jelly tool from I do have a question on the emailing poor Defender does it remove makeup?
These mature beauty articles kill me! They're usually filled with outdated generalizations, written by someone half our age who scanned the internet. I'm 67 and no beauty product is out of bounds for me!

What are your thoughts on “avoiding” certain makeup at our age? Let’s chat in the comments!
I love shimmer eyeshadow. I wear it daily. I’m 61.
I say wear what you want. What does not look good on one person maybe fine on another.

I also get annoyed with people putting limits on us because of our age.❤️❤️
I’m still struggling with trying makeup because I feel like even sunscreen makes my wrinkles look worse. Have a great weekend!❤️

Wonderful!❤️❤️

Team Glitter Go!!🎉
I’m 58 and I just can’t do an all matte eyeshadow look. I always have to have some shimmer or glitter.

I have never seen that Jelly tool before. Interesting.
I bought a second one because it is so awesome. I keep one in my filming room and one in my bathroom.❤️❤️

I love the Revlon Jelly tool. I use it all the time. I actually bought a second one to keep in my filming room.❤️❤️
Do you put foundation over the under eye concealer? I’m always unsure.
Thanks for your wonderful videos❤. How do you clean the Revlon jelly tool?
It cleans off easily with a wipe or towel. I also just clean it with soap and water.❤️
@@LauraRaeBeauty thank you!

Where do you get your Revlon tool from?
In the evening...glitter eyeshadow can be beautiful in the center of the lower lip
I turned 61 in July. I started using my fingers so it melts into my skin. I found using brushes leaves streaks when using foundation so with that I went to a damp sponge.

I wear everything that was mentioned...😂 I'm 68 and feel there are no rules!!
So since sunscreen only provides coverage for 2 hours no matter the SPF how do you reapply throughout the day?
I am working on a video about that topic right now. The video will be coming soon. ❤️❤️
❤❤❤
Well you look great over 60 eyes skin
I appreciate your kindness so much!❤️❤️
thanks for all thetips =did you put the misting spray over the foundation as thought it was a primer???????????????????cover girl
You can use it like a primer or put it on top.❤️❤️
