  • This is my commentary & experience of what this adventure was like in the location of Highgate, Vermont, a farming community literally 2 miles from the Canadian border.
Drove 6 hours to this point, 1 hour of which looking for a good vantage point to set up the camera. Thank you to Ray, Burt, & John for their hospitality in trying to help me find a suitable place. This field area was the best, not disturbing anyone location & am not surrounded by trees.
Beginning of video was just showing the field & swamp bog area when moon was barely starting to intersect with sun. Cutting out 20 minutes of video where I didn't talk for a long time & camera was still a bit long. Other than that, totally raw footage with no added music for the ambient experience.
I heard from Jump 103.7 that the solar eclipse would be totality at 3:17 PM.
Where I was, totality was at 3:26 till 3:30 PM duration being 3 min 23 seconds. Saw 2 stars in sky. Temperature dropped an easy 10 degrees F. Sweating leaving my car, yet cold returning to my car.
More clarity at 12:45 that treeline to the right of swamp pond is direct North to Canada.

LOTS OF RECORDS BROKEN ON THIS TRIP 1. Longest distance I traveled alone as driver 245 miles one way. 2. 1st Totality experience which lasted 3 min 23 seconds 3. Left that area at 3:45 PM & made it home at 2:30 AM (10.75 hrs) exp longest backlog of traffic ever! 4. Purposefully dehydrated by having heat on in car so made it home with no pitstop other than for fuel in Greenfield, MA. It was 1:15 AM when I stopped for gas so in car for 9.5 hours straight! 5. Started trip with full tank in an 2004 Toyota Corolla & still ended up with great gas mileage even with my car running that whole duration of 17.5 hours, only spent $50 on gas ($41.41 at station, but still had a ways to go till home) 6. Made it home, & never ate anything before heading to sleep, only brought 1/2 gal of water for trip, so I broke my own fasting record w/o really trying at 36 hours. Previous record 26 hours. We have it good for sure, taking for granted meals. 7. Surprised during traffic jams, only once I heard a horn, so good patience by other drivers. 8. Total time of trip duration 19.75 hours, with 2.25 of that outside at that field.
Something worth thinking about: The greater light to rule the day gets thwarted by the lesser light that rules the night. When the lesser light wants to rule the sun's position, neither one can put off its' strength of light.
The lesser light leaves its' domain to try to rule what it hasn't been given. Fighting for position, it's not reflecting the light, BUT refracting it away.
The duration of such a move is miniscule at best.
