This was the video I needed to hear BEFORE I started buying gear ⭐ Beginning with end in mind My biggest mistake was following a lot of bass head channels. I'm not a bass head. I prefer good-great sound quality at moderately loud volumes
Nice video, I feel some validation in how I am building my system. I started with a headunit because I wanted a GPS, Carplay & backup camera in my Honda Element. After watching a lot of videos and reading forums I had figured out a few amps which would have the potential to give me what I am looking for and jumped on the Match UP 8DSP when it went on sale. Now to hook it up to my stock speakers & get some practice tuning and uncover those deficiencies while I do a similar hunt for speakers.
Good talk.. Question.. Have you made a video on subwoofer wiring for DVC? That would be a good how to video for newbies. Especially on monoblocks with dual inputs
I am in the middle of mine and stuck with the car head unit. I had to get a DSP. I went with the Audison AP F8.9 bit DSP/Amp in one. I don't need more than the 85W per channel. Initial plan is to go 3-way active in front and sub. Since the midrange is the most important, I went with Xcelsus XXM425 (frequency crossover guesstimates 500-3KHz). Now, I am look at tweeters (3k-up) and midbass (may be looking at one of those Machete line 6.5 for midbass for 100-500Hz).
@@CarAudioEnthusiasts Thx for the recommendation. I am looking at front stage midbass at the moment. I am purely budget conscious, but will spend a little more for quality. I just got tweeters ordered today. They are the ScanSpeak Illuminator D3004/6020-00. I got the pair for under $100. I need only midbass 6.5" midbass drivers. If I decide to do rear fill with an 8.1 setup, the rears would be 2-way 6.5". But that would be down the road.
Important question!!!! Coming from Pro-Audio and familiar with car audio. I do not currently have a dsp. I have not seen anyone talk about the crossover setting’s on the amp cancelling out the crossover setting on the dsp. Being that the amp is last in line after a dsp does it not interfere with the settings on the dsp? So I’m guessing set the amp (both) hi and low pass a bit past what the hi and low pass settings are on the dsp or crossover. Is this correct??? So actually the amp needs adjusted somewhat as well as the dsp because it also has crossover points. Or just run the amp with low pass all the way down and high pass all the way up and then it can run full signal allowing dsp to do all the work. How are you adjusting your amp with your dsp??? This is something important because if you have amp frequencies not adjusted accordingly and just set anywhere then I see it cancelling out frequencies your trying to get from dsp. I would like to know how you set your amp according to the dsp. Good job on the video’s.
Question: Did you learn car audio from experience or training? I always wanted to do car audio, but it shifted to a career path. At the moment, it will be for a hobby or maybe to do as a side gig. I actually won't mind taking on-site classes on car audio for SQL, SPL, custom pillars boxes, etc., and Tuning. Not sure if there is a top school for that I do see one in my area NJ
What's your views on differential rear fill? There are only 2 dsp brands that I know of that have this function built in. I have a cheap and cheerful Chinese dsp, and I'm trying to figure out how to implement this. Any thoughts on how to achieve differential rear fill the a Sennuopu H-612 dsp?
Im not a big rear fill guy, but a lot of people swear by it. Personally I'd like to do a Dolby atmos , or 7.1 build. that said, I believe you can sorta simulate it by flipping the left and right in the rear, running them out of phase with the front, and turning them way down in the mix.
Cool video with some useful info, btw it's qts, qtc is driver+enclosure. If the driver's qts is too low in the door or in any situation where its basically IB, it will go into over excursion much quicker depending how low the qts is.
@@CarAudioEnthusiastsI'm guessing you already knew this because I've watched some of your other vids where you've talked about this. Just giving some extra info for other people who'll be watching this. Keep up the great content.
For anyone just starting, just know that it will never end. It’s fun but expensive.

Thank you sir for another informative and educational video
My pleasure

check out Steg speakers.
Good stuff. Happy Friday y'all
Thanks! You too!

Great suggestion!

check out a Steg 6.5 2 way, thats get you a tweeter and a nice midbass together

Do you have a suggestion for a budget 4 channel DSP amplifier?
only one, google Steg dsp amplifiers, and Awave dsp amplifiers

personally i turn off the filters on the amp. OR like you said set them way out past the DSPs xover points

Car amp working on 8 ohm will get hoter ?
not really, it should run about the same, if outputting the same power. but there IS a bit more cone control at 8ohms.
