It is clear that the American experiment of having politicians pick judges has failed. Politicians pick judges based on politics not on legal ability. Appointment of judges should be a purely independent administrative exercise, not a political one.

Justin Stephenson, Also, Supreme Court judges should be required to have law degrees. I was absolutely shocked when I pulled that up and found out they are not required to have one. Also, Congressional members should all be required to have degrees!! Almost all Federal Government positions require at minimum of a bachelor's degree to work in public service anymore. No one like Lauren Boebert should be allowed to make decisions & introduce bills that have effects upon every citizen in the country. Not ever, she just doesn't have enough knowledge or skills to fulfill the duties of her position.

@Gender AffirmingCare No.I think for myself. I have the ability to distinguish right from wrong and to understand the difference between fascism and democracy, which are polar opposites. I was raised in a Republican household. Nixon, in pursuit of power, broke the law and became a criminal. Reagan tried to eliminate the middle class, and Trump has been pro Russia for 40 years. Eric Trump, in a moment of candor, admitted the Trump corporation hot all its money from Russia. Russia is our enemy, but they are a friend of Trump. They, along with Trump's blessing, invaded an independent, increasingly DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY. Putin didn't like that. My guess is that Putin ordered Trump to withdraw from NATO so that Putin would be handed Ukraine on a platter. Trump was so busy grifting off the presidency and with his impulsive behavior, probably thought NATO could wait. As we have seen, Putin couldn't wait and invaded an independent country. Facts like this matter. Wake up and see them

Term limits for the judiciary at the Federal level is long overdue. There is no reasonable explanation for letting judges stay in the courtroom for life. We recognize that generational attitudes toward religious, and social issues change, and from the level of federal district judges up to SCOTUS we have opinions that were formed 2 generations ago. Why would we not have Congress moving to limit judiciary terms and terms for Representatives and Senators? Old doesn't always translate into wise or current.

When the Founders decided on lifetime court appointments, life expectancy was VERY different. Wealthy, white, landed gentry--the only ppl the Founders allowed to vote, and the only ppl who could feasibly participate in government, especially at the highest levels--on average lived til their late 40s, early 50s. On average, the first SCOTUS justices were in their 30s when they were appointed. So it stands to reason the Founders expected most Justices to be on the court for around 20 years. I think a 20 year term is more than fair, and perhaps even a little long, but we all know how Repugs like to call back to the Founders, and that seems like a good basis for making term limits.
I also think some Justices should be elected, according to population and region--it shouldn't be like the Senate, where voters from low population states get WAY more representation than voters in populous states. But each region should PROPOTIONALLY by population get to elect Justices to the SCOTUS, that way they'll be held accountable to some degree by voters. Altho that shouldn't replace an ethical framework that's overseen by Congress, which is obviously necessary, given the Roberts court has shown an utter inability to police itself.
Altho elections of Justices won't be fair until each adult in America is automatically registered to vote when they turn 18. As far as the worry about dead ppl voting, that's easy to solve, death certificates should be sent to the registrar of voters, so ppl who've died can be taken off the voter rolls. As far as privacy issues, the death certificates could be under seal, & only the necessary person or ppl at the registrars office would be allowed to see them, and they would be considered sensitive documents so registrar workers could be criminally prosecuted for revealing them.
The only voters who've been arrested for double voting in the past two elections were Republicans trying to prove it can be done. There's been functionally almost no voter fraud in the US, certainly not near enough to effect outcomes. The 63 judges that adjudicated Spanky's claims about the 2020 election, all agreed there was no fraud. The recounts done by Republicans in AZ confirmed Biden won, the AZ recounts done by the super cyber team of Trumpists not only confirmed Biden won, but their recount actually added votes to Joe Biden's total. Spanky just can't admit he's a loser.

Here in the UK we do not have these problems. One the courts can only interpret and apply an Act of Parliament not call it unconstitutional and overturn it. Two judges [and bishops] have to retire after their 75th birthday. Three judges are appointed from the ranks of lawyers with years of experience at the bar and only promoted to a higher court or the Supreme Court [the Law Lords] after years of experience in the lower courts. Four judges are not appointed for their political views

In theory, a US President could propose expanding the number of Supreme Court Justices and advocate for it. However, since the power to pass laws resides with Congress, the President would ultimately need the support and cooperation of *BOTH* houses of Congress to pass such legislation.
Expanding the number of Supreme Court Justices is a significant decision with far-reaching implications, and historically, changes to the Court's size have been relatively rare. It would likely require substantial political consensus and support from both the Democrat party *and the Republican party to successfully pass such legislation.*

Those who are in all the offices should have surprise drug testing's, results know publicly. Personally, I am against abortion unless it's medically needed. However, not everyone thinks as I do. I do believe in free choice, but with options/information/education. I think Doctors need to be Doctors, not looking over their shoulder to see if they are following the rules. The Insurance Company's, Medicare, Hospital Policy's, and Politian's are not Doctors and should not act as if they are, they have too much power over the Doctors. Every patient healing process is different and maybe they need to run expensive tests or the same tests over, maybe they need the new expensive meds, people should be treated as the doctor feels it is needed, and not what they are allowed to do or not do.

The trouble with calls for reform that originate with dissatisfaction with the decision in Wade, is that the Roe decision was arguably not good jurisprudence. That decision is not flawed because of where it landed on abortion, it was importing to the Constitution of a right to privacy. The Court over time had bent itself into pretzels on that one and the argument could (and was) be successfully made that the court erred in so doing. Other things fall from that. The court will make politically unpopular decisions. That is an occasional corollary if doing its job. It is not of itself a basis for ‘reform’. There are many reasons for reform apart from this. Thomas most forcefully makes that case and it would be true whether he were Republican or Democrat. But let’s not forget that the court has been placed in a position of doing Congress’s job for it. Reform cannot be limited to one branch.

Candidates for Supreme Court Justice must be well schooled in the Constitution. They must understand and respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Candidates for Supreme Court Justice must also be well-versed on the letters sent back-and-forth by the founders, discussing the various issues to be included in the constitution.
As an example, ‘The Right to Travel’, was under serious discussion by the founders, but it was decided that the right to travel was so basic, and so fundamental that there was no reason to include it in the constitution. Nevertheless, the founders did give the federal government supremacy over Post Roads. We will find this supremacy in Article 1, Section 8. Now we see states attempting to infringe on this right to travel by the issuance of drivers licenses, imposing fees, and taxes.
We saw the Roberts court, finally wake up to the fact that there is nothing within the US constitution permitting abortion, or abortive procedures, and they struck down a 50 year old decision that was improperly rendered. It is now up to the activists in the states to convince their respective legislatures to invoke procedures for abortion, whatever that might be.
So rather than have candidates for the supreme court based on political affiliation or activism, the justices should be well-versed in all aspects of the constitution. Support and defend the constitution.

Sorry but decisions being in step with popular opinion is not a criterion for criticism of SC. I believe the SC has made some recent decision(s) that are not consistent with the full reading of the Constitution - their job - but theoretically if an opinion is truely in the majority then even when SC makes a decision contrary to it the voters should eventually be able to self-correct that decision by making it irrelevant through the ballot box. However, given the validity of the SC is entirely granted by the population's belief that it is incorrupt and trustworthy this Court is already a long way down the path to irrelevance and they should take immediate steps to prevent that.
