"rainbow" shots blocker side. I know at an adult level, shows are linear, but at the lower levels of play shots from the blue line are what I call rainbow shots and if the goalie is short (12U) getting a blocker up shoulder height seems odd
Something that can happen to a lot of goalies is they get mentally lazy and square to the shooter and not the puck on the shooters stick. Mental notes of "what hand is the shooter" or the backdoor threat do wonders for your save %. This is also something I'd stress to younger highschool goalies as the difference in positioning is massive when you're up against mostly 6ft tall players.
man...this morning at my usual shinny I got like two goals like this. I son't know if this should be taken on account: I played, Saturday night a christmas celebration game that extended for two and some hours we won 10-3, Sunday night on our kinda beer league we lost 2-1, Monday night after couching atoms and bantams for two hours we had a little shinny I got scored like 6 times against, U18 national team caliber guys and some not that good but still fast (I'm 46 by the way) this morning after like 5 hours of sleep I got scored 10 times and two goals just like this one. (maybe a little heart relief here, thanks for reading me) Great analysis and thanks for the advice!
Sam, I can appreciate the videos. You say "square, square, square". But what is your definition for the word? What is your meaning of "square" in one sentence ??
If you were to draw a straight line from the middle of the puck to the middle of the back of the net, the line should go directly through the middle of your body.
What kind of goal should I break down next?
Can you help with low glove and blocker shots? I struggle with those
Breakaway?

i noticed that you are still moving backwards, not set as you try to get on angle, square to puck for the shot
First
Nice!
