Hahaha, very true. Had a blast playing this back in the day. In fact, it was quite advanced compared to the first basketball game I started playing...Lakers vs Celtics and the NBA Playoffs.
I remember playing this for the first time a few years after this series became NBA Live. I saw it on sale at a local store and thought the cover looked cool. I remember turning it on and being immediately won over just because Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley were in the game (they weren’t in the nba live games at that point)
Exactly. You had to be in the perfect spot for the signature move to land. Jordan signature dunk came from the top of the rim. Barkley would always miss his dunk because he would go too far with his one-handed slam. Shaq was a power dunk which was 50/50 but would rattle the rim and usually bounce out. Those are the three that stick with me. Drazen Petrovic was a beast from downtown and I used him a lot.
He was a sports talk radio personality out of Vegas, hosted a show called Sports Byline USA in those days. I used to listen to the show as a teen on AM radio. We didn't have him locally where I live, but at night AM radio could catch stations from longer range, I could at least hear most of the show, that is when the station wouldn't phase out (it was at least 1-2 states away, and a clear winter night caught better reception).
I honestly think that's why we had so much fun with games. Had to use imagination and add your own shit to the game and totally get immersed. Idk why I don't get the same enjoyment now even tho the games are realistic as hell now.
it was a glitch where i had jordan run around the court like he was the flash and patrick ewing never missed a sky hook 3 from the top corner 😂😂😂 i wish it was recorded back then
@@tonygonzalez9057 I did that once with Jordan I could never figure out how i did it though. Also every now and then Shaq would be able to make 3 pointers without ever missing even from half court.
Back in the day I played the hell out of this
Drazen Petrovic was my guy on this game. Good memories here. He was COLD BLOODED from 3
My friends and I would have weekend long tournaments in this and make awards to give out at the end. So many great memories.
Yup! My friends and i did the same sheit! 😂
💯💯
I played NBA showdown all day long it was my favorite game BACK IN the day I wish they Remake this game
i love this game i collect retro consoles and games and this is my first and favorite snes game
Smoke thanks for the videos man. NBA Showdown for SNES and Genesis were both great games
People bitching about the current games need to try playing this. Had to rely on the imagination a lot!!

this shit is better than NBA 2K21
I miss the days playing SNES with my brother and not have a care in the world. NHLPA '93 was a lot of fun too!
The last game Jordan was officially in the game
Jordan and Barkley was in Live '96 on Genesis and Snes bur you had to enter codes to use them.
This was my fav basketball game of the 16 bit era by far. NBA jam was fun, but this was the real deal.
Lots of time gone by, wow!

I used to have and love this game. Only issue was there was no turbo.
0:18 Being a kid and not knowing what the hell you're doing.
i remember my brother scoring 100 points with MJ in this game
I played this game too much as a kid
This game game was alot faster than the Vs games were.
This was my shit! Classic...
This is basically Bulls vs Blazers with slightly different sounds.
and faster gameplay.
Lots of good memories of playing this game.
a game were signature moves of player are available

I had this game & it was horrible. The controls were miserable, thank god for NBA Live the following year.
this is where I first heard the signature "e...a...sports. its in the game!"
Mj got tired 9:52
Decent game, but not quite as good as Tecmo Super NBA Basketball. One thing that really hurt this game was the lack of in-game music.
this is a fucking great game....i spend my day playing this fucking bullshit game
This would be NBA Elite 12
nice game
I remember Patrick Ewing had a cheat spot and would hit every 3 he took
@KacperStudios I'd play this over Elite 12.
Was Ron Barr supposed to related to Roseanne? 😄

A did my own play by play when i played this back in the day 😁

I hated the fact that Jordan couldn't shoot a 3 pointer for nothing its like they gave pipping mjs jump shots and all likeness espect his dunks
it was a glitch where i had jordan run around the court like he was the flash and patrick ewing never missed a sky hook 3 from the top corner 😂😂😂 i wish it was recorded back then
Tony Gonzalez I did the same thing with Shaq. Id hook shot 3 pointers from the wing and never miss.
@@tonygonzalez9057 I did that once with Jordan I could never figure out how i did it though. Also every now and then Shaq would be able to make 3 pointers without ever missing even from half court.
Jordan was not a superior 3 point shooter
anybody wants to play me
Tecmo Super NBA Basketball was far better than this.
