I know James doesn't check these comments, but it's incredible that you do these for the children. It will help a generation from now when they are inspired by weather, instead of being afraid of it.
A situation with Typhoon Phanfone last Christmas night made me wonder: *how does someone know if the storm has truly passed or if they're in the eye if they have zero outside information and if it's nighttime?* My loved ones were caught outside far from their shelter, 10m from the shore as the Cat. 3 bore down on them a second time. They had about an hour of total peace before it hit, but it was nighttime and they had no electronics, no warnings. They are all okay by the way! So, in these situations where you have a rural area where people have no access to info, should they be extremely cautious if it suddenly becomes peaceful and stops raining? That's what I told them was the telltale. Hopefully that's right. The eye at night can lull people into a false sense of safety!
I remember Ivan very well. I was around Atmore, Al at the time. The next day trees and powerlines were down everywhere. Ivan produced lots of tornadoes.

It really is. He is a model meteorologist and human being in so many ways
I can't get enough of the "Respect the Polygon" mug on your desk @ 1:48. Love it!

Fantastic video! Great work
James spann a question I would like to know is what does wind shear due to storms
Wind shear is what make severe thunderstorms severe. That is a simple answer. I could give a much more complicated explanation
