  • Annetta Lucero demonstrates how she teaches a correct thumb flip.
The thumb flip is the basis for all low and high tosses in competitive baton twirling. If you are competing without a correct thumb flip and you or your coach thinks it's okay to not correct it, you need to quit and take up basket weaving.

It was a shame that I didn't learn how to turn my fingers and how to turn them, but I found out a lot thanks to your video! Thank you :)

When measuring for a baton, so you measure from the neck to fingertip or from underarm to fingertip?

When putting the left hand up I would tell my kids “karate chop” and then end “both hands on top”
I personally did it wrong myself for years.
Thumb flip is so important. Most girls want to hook it at the wrist. Used to drive me crazy.
