The Ohio River is one of the best fisheries around where i live. I live in Northern KY and its really the only place close to my house that has hybrids, white bass, and stripers, and skipjacks. I fish Falmouth Dam alot because its only 10 minutes from my house and it has some top notch fishing down there in the spring. 4 to 5 lb smallies, catfish, red eye, largemouth, and drums. I live 20 minutes from Meldahl dam and if u can catch the water just rite, u can have a awesome day on the river!!! I wish KDFW would stock Kinkaid Lake and AJ Jolly lake with hybrids. I feel like they would do great and i would love to go and catch em.
I live the Ohio River, literally a couple miles up from the falls.. I’ve always fished creeks and lakes. I’m sold..

I'm between Pittsburgh and Cinci. I'm 64 and grew up on this river. It was so polluted back in the 60's when I was growing up you couldn't catch anything in there aside of carp and catfish as they were about the only thing strong enough to deal with the pollution. You could catch a muskie or Northern pike now and then but rarely. There were no ducks or anything. It's so much better now it's unreal. I still don't trust eating from it.
One time my brother caught 62, maybe 63 fish thereabouts
Get yourself a surf rod if you're fishing those type of conditions. 10'6 medium heavy 3/4 to 40z.

Is it unrealistic to wonder if there could be any trout anywhere on the river? Too warm? What about the upper Allegheny and Monongahela?

Indiana allows Ky residents to fish the main Ohio River, but you are not allowed to fish any of the creeks or tributaries off of the river on the Indiana side. Also, if you're on the bank fishing the Indiana side, you must follow Indiana rules to where if you're in a boat, you follow ky rules.
Is he fishing the indiana side or kentucky?
Don't eat anything out of that river.

Yeah, there are several advisories that have toxicity levels of each fish type and how many you can eat before it's dangerous 😂☠️🤦 if I have to worry about toxicity of something I'm eating in such small quantities, I'm probably not gonna scarf it down 😂
