I am a Persian Gulf Veteran (1991) and I keep being denied disability benefits even when I can't work due to Chronic Fatigue , dizziness, bad short memory, mental confusion, etc. This denial went up to the Court of Veterans Appeals (I started my claim 9 years ago) because the BVA denied my benefits even when a study performed at UCSD for Gulf War veterans clinically shows that that I got Mitochondrial damage due to the Persian Gulf exposures (a 5 star proof), and another document that I produced the VA, a form signed by my doctor confirming that I can't work. In short, the Regional VA up to the BVA failed to give me the benefit of the doubt, failed to apply the so famous "presumption" on my favor, and failed to give credit to new clinical studies that prove my disability. My military record is totally clean and I got an honorable release from the Army. Now my case is in the hands of the Court of the Veterans Administration and if they don't handle this injustice, I do not know what else to do. Thanks for reading!!

I’m a Vietnam veteran with 60% disability, 50% PTSD and 10% tinnitus. I now suffer from chronic migraines (15 a month), and during the migraine attacks my BP elevates to dangerous levels (220/117). why do people relate symptoms to other injuries or something. why cant they just have depression (for instance) for no reason. ill tell you why. its veterans who are conditioned to have reactions to actions. they believe that there must be an action. whether it be stress from military service, or whatever. im schizophrenic and i suffer from it for no reason. im 100% and i dont want to be 100%, i dont want any rating but i cannot refuse it. im not allowed to. i have no control over my life.

Can you also add high cholesterol to that? I’m young right where I need to be on my weight I eat well and still got high cholesterol. Not to mention pain in most of my joints. Could that be connected to sleep apnea?

    • @UNKNOWN-le2tu

high cholesterol is not ratable. i had high cholesterol when i discharged. i still have high cholesterol. look at your food choices. eat nuts or olive oil, something high in hdl. i eat a lot of potato chips which are high in ldl cholesterol. the military didnt make you eat ldl foods. the dfac or chowhall feeds people good healthy foods. you cannot link high cholesterol to military service simply for that reason. if you spend your lunch eating fast food its not the military's fault. every service member can eat in the chowhall and if you get bas its very cheap to eat there.

It's possible that your are rated at 85%, that would be mean they would round up to 90% for VA disability pay, but not for disability rating. If for example your actual rating is 85%, then 50% for migraines would make your rating increase to 92.5%. The VA would then round down to 90% and pay you out at that rate.
You will need to use the VA disability calculator to get your exact rating %.

I'm currently doing a rate increase for headaches, service related that originally I was given 10% for. That being said they have now caused me up to 2-3 days off a month from work, commonly I have headaches daily some days worse then others and days that I just can't work and have to go home. My question is, I submitted statements from both myself, my employer and my personal chiropractor all pointing to the increase in severity, also 4 months the va released me from chiropractor care saying they will not maintain me if I cannot be fixed. So what's the chances my rating will increase as just a service related issue?

Approx 8yrs ago eye pain & migraines denied. Additional physical denied. Received increase based on PTSD- I don’t agree with the evaluation but only way she could get my compensation. Haven’t been able to work 20yrs😥 (took 12yrs to get unemployable ; lived in poverty). Is it worth it to pursue getting physical issues added?
