- Blake and I recently headed up to the incredibly beautiful Riding Mountain National Park in search of the numerous Whitefish that are found in Clear Lake. A fun morning of ice fishing with the Aquaview HD10i Pro underwater camera as well as the Garmin Panoptix Livescope landed us with a bunch of fish that were released to live a full healthy life and hopefully be caught again one day.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and leaving a comment!

Amazing video Darren. You my friend are going to grow so fast on this platform keep at it. I love your under water shots and the Panoptix shots. That guy makes a great co-host. have him in more of your shows in the future. It was so relaxing and informative to watch this video bud.
Thanks buddy! Merry Christmas, you are getting pinned🤓

What great fun👍❤🙂👋Darren
Ok, that was pretty sweet!
Cheers 👊
Great you got with Blake Morken out on Clear Lake chasing whites. The lake is so much fun to fish, In early January the water will be clearer. The north side takes longer settle out from the fall turn over, then seeing the bottom in 20 f.o.w. would make a nice video. Also cluster holes from a hut and you don't need a flasher. You were set up in the exact location were my husband caught a 24 15/16 whitefish. Excellent choice by Blake to made a video.
Thank you 🙏!
Yeah I’m hoping to go there again a little later on this winter, I’ll try out your suggestion. Maybe I’ll finally get a big one.
I love whitefish smoked or deep fried. Another great video Darren, awesome footage!
Glad you enjoyed it Steve! Yeah I kept a couple off camera for smoking.
Wicked video footage Darren!! Looks like a great day out on Clear Lake...... keep’m coming....🧊🎣

Thanks bud! Yeah was pretty killer, happy New Years!
YouTubing is definitely an extra step in either hunting or fishing. Looks like a pretty good day with some nice whitefish
Yep, it’s a pain but definitely worth it in my opinion!
Was a super fun day, appreciate it 🙏
@@darrensnorthernlife1184 i would agree its definitely worth it.
Awsom Darren Congrats, they are some in the lake close by but never cought one
Thanks dude! You should definitely give it a try, they are a blast.
Darren, that is epic, I would have kept them all, sooooooooo good smoked. That aqua View is epic. I wish we had a lake like that to catch them in CO. Yea Darren, Never Grab The LINE LOL.... Very awesome show, ur shows are now epic... Some of the best on youtube!!!!
Oh yea, I forgot to tell u, I got another Manitoba Master trout today :) 😉
Thanks Paul, I really appreciate the kind words!
And yeah I actually kept two off camera and smoked em up the other day, just didn’t want people to think it’s ok to take a ton of fish out of a relatively small lake like this one.
Well dont have to worry about me going there to get them. lol..... Kinda a far drive..
lol
Not sure how I missed this one! I saw the garmin screen and though wow that is cool, then I say your camera view and man that makes it like a video game!
Haha it’s all good John👍🙏! Yeah the combination of Livescope and Aquaview made for a pretty fun time on the ice!
Fun fish to catch, good vid
Yeah they sure are! Thanks bud 🙏
Darren enjoyed the video man love the underwater shots big like 74 here. Wishing you a Happy New Year 🎅👍
Thanks my dude🙏! Happy new year to you as well👊
Real fun video to watch bud! Love it! This is Dave by the way.
Thanks Dave👊
Great video! Very entertaining 👍
Thanks bud 🙏!
You gotta watch whitefish and cisco if they flop around too much once you land them. They can and will headbang themselves to death surprisingly quick. Awesome vid, fellow!
Yeah I don’t have much experience with them but I noticed that they do headbang a lot, I think I’ll make a little livewell for them next time so they go straight into there as soon as they are landed.
Thanks bud🙏
Love the underwater footage.
Thanks Justin 🙏
Good job buddy. About time you posted a new video. 😁 what aqua view do you have?
Thanks dude, lol no kidding😅! I’m using the HD10i Pro model.
I would like to snag this little fish holy buddy
haha, gotta love em
If they're called whitefish then why are they actually silver??? Awesome content my guy!
@Bruce Wayne thats racist
lol, thanks bud!
They are called whitefish because they their flesh cooks up white.
yo that camera is cool that footage was cool to see.
Thanks bud! It’s soooo much fun watching them react to different hook presentations.
Why did it seem like it took a long time to cut a hole with that gas auger? Needs new blades?
Yeah my blades were pretty dull
Factor in some extra time for the 10 inch holes your cutting.
Merry Christmas Darren From The USA!
Thanks buddy! Same to you and your family 👊
Great video. Nice to see one of our locals out there with you. Blake is usually hush hush about his fishing spots. Surprise me
Thanks bud! Haha, yeah I guess Clear Lake isn’t much of a secret anymore anyways.
nice job boys! where's Blake's strikemaster lol
Thanks! Haha I’m not sure🤔
Great tip about using Google Maps to find reefs! I've done that before as well, then I usually check them on the lake map as well to see what the bottom content has - sand, clay, muck, rocks, stones, or wood. They all have their times where they're good. But you can't go wrong with being on the edge of a reef to catch whitefish!
Yeah google maps is a great tool, unfortunately a lot of our lakes here don't have mapping so can't really fall back on that.
@@darrensnorthernlife1184 That's why Google Maps is great. You can see the reef on the aerial image and you can even get GPS coordinates of it (if you're using Google Earth, not Google Maps), and can get pretty close to that point by navigating to it. From there, having a good mapping system on your locator is great. Humminbird has an option where you can create your own contour map just by driving all over the lake. I know some people who do that on some of our up north lakes that aren't mapped. But our DNR has most lakes mapped. Problem is, some of them (actually most) are from the 1950's and 60's, so a lot has changed on some of those lakes, but you can easily pinpoint reefs and flats on them.
Nice video! I always get so excited chasing new species! I've heard smoked whitefish is fantastic eating.
Yes they are! Thanks bud!
That was fun! The underwater camera is amazing! I miss icefishing! Stay safe out there!
Thanks bud! Yeah the camera makes it pretty fun!
Gotta love those whitefish! They sit there and circle the bait sometimes for several minutes before they commit! Other times, when there's several around, they'll come right in and grab it! Cameras are neat to watch them, but I've read that in the clear water like you have and we have out on Green Bay it can spook them, or they at least become more lethargic.
Yeah buddy, they are sooo much fun! These guys didn't seem to even notice the camera though!
Great video buddy. Did you keep any to eat? I heard they are great smoked
Thanks bud. Yeah I kept two smaller ones for smoking.
I love you
You da best😉
Nice catches Darren! I’ve never been ice fishing before but it looks like it has a lot of overhead. How much do those fish camera doohickeys and ice drills cost? I’m guessing newbies probably use their friend’s gear or just cut a hole with a saw. You guys are pretty professional.
Thank you! Yeah the gear i'm running costs a bit, but you really don't need much to get started.
