It bothered me that the Chuck E Cheese pizza conspiracy theory was in the same video where a good friend of his opened up about her abusive relationship. More like you know where it's going but the "positive support" from what I can only say is the people of internet always helps him get through the worst because they approve of unreliable apologies in hopes of (what i assume is) not losing an "entertainment" source. In the end if he had more negative feedback it still wouldn't have changed much because most of the bad stuff he did was when he received no backlash anyway.

If there is one thing we known about Shane, it's that he's very deceptive, which is why he was able to get away with all the toxic things he has done for so long. Isn't she a relationship/marriage therapist? What's she doing diagnosing mental disorders? She later claimed she wasn't told what Shane was going to be specifically looking for, which could be the case if he wanted a "sociopath" narrative and didn't want anybody disputing that. Still, I don't think she should've mentioned criteria for a sociopathy diagnosis if she isn't licensed or qualified to. Admittedly, I've only seen clips of the Jake Paul series.

@@brittneybrisbin744 Tbh, anyone can look up and relay criterias, but she went outside that. Speculating and spread misinformation. She has a channel that i believe that started out helpful, but she definately changed for clout. She started being in (most notably) Shanes sensationalizing vids acting unprofessional. She was especially unhelpful around Eugenia Cooneys illness and has made a really shit video on her channel that just helps the illness to thrive more. It is like if a creator is big she just forgets the truth and says what they want to hear, in Shanes case sensationalizing info and gossy speculating, in Eugenias case, she was afferming her illness in a damaging way. As a "professional" I'd expect her to follow medical recommendations, you know? But most people wont be able to see that she does not. As a "professional" on UA-cam she could have the misinformation edited out if she was just uninformed (we all are sometimes) but she doesnt. She is just willfully bad and dangerous.

I felt sick watching her little smirk while she called sociopaths "gross" and "ew" while agreeing with Shane they're "monsters". A therapist/mental health professional would NEVER describe something like that the way she did, or demonise it. Because she would/could be alienating her clients that NEED HELP.
And worse still is that I see people scuttling all over the internet arm chairing everyone as being a "sociopath" ever since that whole shit show her and shane pulled off. They're literally everywhere still to this day and think they're knowledgeable enough to diagnose someone over one action because they saw that segment, seen only through the internet which is something a professional would NEVER do because not only do you need hours of work to diagnose something like that, people play characters on the internet and it's impossible to tell if they're being real or not. An “empath” would have no trouble understanding that a child, that cannot consent, is victimized repeatedly when content of them is viewed by predators. Not to mention a real empath wouldve never even done the shit he did bc theyd be sensitive to the response of their audience; he fucks up and is like "sorry didnt even know it would make u mad, this is why i did it, sorry you got hurt by that" and then when people call him out its "i 😤 refuse to perceive this criticism 🚫 no more hate"
And then... he bounces back like it never happened, not really much guilt or shame
Honestly i didnt notice this before bc i didnt watch him much but it seems more likely he Wants to be an empath and so he focuses so much on trying to be 'nice,' trying to care and be considerate, and actively trying to avoid hate, but he doesnt have these characteristics in his heart and so its a battle of always trying to Live Up to being an empath, but never actually being one
And just to tie this in to Tati.... imo she is the real empath, but she made a rookie empath mistake by jumping on james, and allowing herself to be influenced by the antithesis of an empath (jeffree) and someone fake like shane. The fact she hasnt been online at all since i think just really supports her case. And the fact the world hasnt forgiven her and cannot perceive this quality about her. Shane fucked up too many times, to a really bad extent, in many different ways, and he wants the world to ignore those things (like most other popular youtubers w scandals tbh). I know right. I too had a truly terrible childhood and experienced plenty of abuse from different people. And I did act very horribly because of it as a teen. And while the abuse and trauma I experienced do EXPLAIN my behavior, they don't EXCUSE it. Very big difference.
Shane needs to stop using his trauma as a shield to deflect criticism. He needs to own up to his shit for once and for all, and bear the consequences silently. (As a side note - if he truly has changed so much, he'd feel enough shame and guilt about his past actions that he'd bear the consequences and apologize without saying excuse after excuse and feeling like he has to explain himself.)

Just because he was insecure at times, that doesn't excuse sexualizing children in skits or his wearing blackface.
UPDATE: Alright, a few things: I am not trying to say that Shane should be "cancelled" for his past behavior, nor am I saying that I don't get that some people would not be bothered by blackface (but really that side of his "apology" is not meant for you, so you can't really forgive it if you aren't the target of it). Besides, people have the right to call it disingenuous of an apology because of the fact that it is always motivated by fear on his end.
I am black, and I do admit that I don't really have much issue with it, or something I won't beat someone over the head with (but I do find Shane saying he had no idea that blackface was done in minstrel shows and that it was meant to offend blacks laughable as an excuse) . I think it's more the fact that his branch of humor is bad. At the least that while it is true that comedy is subjective and anything can be joked about, we can at least come to an agreement that Shane simply is not funny.
But mainly my main issue with Shane is of course the skits where he sexualized children.

We so so so truly need to forgive people for slights in their pasts so that they can move on and improve. But when it’s referring to things like child and animal abuse it is not a mistake or act of immaturity; it’s predatory behavior which isn’t checked and people let fly under the radar. I think it might be best to evaluate mistakes and shortcomings on a case by case basis and in this case he didn’t apologize for the legitimately bad videos and opted to cherry pick which videos deserved to be given attention and apologized over. It’s easier, for example, to -> excuse blackface vs -> explain m*sturbating in front of Willow Smith’s poster implying she gets him off or -> humping your dog for what reason exactly???
No apologies were at length discussing these issues and none even brought them up other than him saying “oh I think I might have done some immature things but I was young and stupid.” At some point we all are or were young and stupid and I guarantee the majority of people never made jokes like that or did inappropriate behaviors with their pets or kissed underage kids or even pretend jerked off to children. It’s not stupid nor is it naivety. It’s disgusting.

I will say this for Shane that both benefitted him and contributed to his downfall: somehow, he saw the writing on the wall and saw the culture of UA-cam start to shift away from edgy skits to more "personal" content, even pivoting to true crime content with his documentaries but all that older content was still there. The cynic in me thinks the "dramas" for the blackface stuff made him shift to more personal, emotional content and just bury that older cringe content, hoping his fans would soon forget it completely.
Unfortunately, he also was on UA-cam long enough to see apology videos become their own subgenre of UA-cam content you can perfect just like comedy sketches. As long as you SEEM sorry and ACT like you are sorry and make yourself seem like the victim somehow, it usually makes the drama die down eventually and you don't have to think about it because now your fans feel sorry for you and become more endeared to you. The problem is being accountable for your actions, understanding what you did wrong and growing and changing is not something he ever learned, hence the defensive and exasperated attitude with the later apology videos; you can practically hear him sigh heavily and roll his eyes like "GAWD! I ALREADY said I was SORRY!" Just burying it and getting into more drama means it'll just keep piling up and then it hit a breaking point where he had a huge meltdown. It's also really telling how he's still just "performing" by just throwing out that he was molested during the livestream, like he still wants to be seen as someone deserving of his audiences' pity even while he's spiraling out of control.

OMG, I'm so glad Joon mentioned Katie Morton. I study psychology atm and i enjoy commentary and psychology content - including her channel - on youtube. I had no idea she had a collab with Shane and yeah, it was a big bummer for me. I really dislike throwing words like "narcissist" and "sociopath" so easily, especially that not many psychology expert will actually use the word sociopath. Also the term 'empath' is just... Just pretentious. You knowing what people like to hear does not mean you're an empath.

What's wrong with the word "sociopath"?

    • @nyctobaby

@@nicholassapphire2022 I know it been a long time but using those words are actually pretty bad because not only are they not actual diagnosis anymore and fall under a broader category of antisocial personality disorder, but perpetuate negative stereotypes about less 'insta worthy' and digestible disorders. A person with the disorder and that genuinely tries to manage it is not going to show this behavior. Bad people aren't just mentally ill and mentally illness isn't always the cause either.

@Nirroir she didn't just hang out with him for one day but also claims (she had a video about it on her channel) they are great friends and she won't apologize for the documentary episode she made with him. Maybe you think of me as a judgemental person but I'm more concerned with her responsibility of being a very public therapist and I don't like the decisions she's making in that context.

I've commented similar things on other videos about shane, but I think it could add something here. Shane seems to think that being an empathetic person is a get out of jail free card. Just so we're clear, I personally do not believe that he is very empathetic, but I also believe that it doesn't matter. Even if he IS as amazingly empathetic as he claims, that does not say anything about who he is. You can feel all of someone's pain and still decide that you couldn't give less of a shit about it. Yes, people with high empathy tend to be kind, but that is not a set rule. Who you are is defined by the decisions you make, not the things you feel.

yep. even if it's not intentional manipulation tactic to make the kids feel like they have some sort of special bond, an adult seeking comfort from kids just shows theyre unable to form connection with people their own age.
basically no matter what it is there must be smth wrong wit the adult.

Meh he was a young guy just venting to a camera, not aiming at a young audience purposefully. It's the fact that once he knew his demographic was kids he still kept up some pretty deplorable behaviour.

Honestly? If he did it in a respectable fashion, I think it could be a very good thing. Like him talking about depression, how it's okay to have it, how you shouldn't be ashamed, talking about how many people suffer from it, speaking about his experiences, and educating the audience on how to get help. That'd be a very different story.
But him just giving sob stories to have people pity him and pity-love him, or to forgive his mistakes, or using them to make his "empath" character more believable... Or even to manipulate kids... That's gross.
