Love this! Not been watching much on UA-cam this year so only been dipping in to your channel every now and then but I love this format where you show all the shots in 20 minutes or so. Got some catching up to do! Top, top stuff Lester.
Lester great recovery after first hole a good reminder to us all Winter golf with your mates is always worth a go just for the banter and getting out of house
Hard lines Lester. Solid back nine though. Respect to all the crazies who play winter golf and to Gareth’s wife who managed to get him out of the house and filmed looking like that 🤣👌
Another really enjoyable vlog and well rescued after a slightly dodgy start. Greens look amazing for this time of year and you are definitely playing some solid golf - keep up the great work.
good competition vlog Lester great golf in winter conditions, course looked good with the weather we’re having at the moment. loving the putter as well
"I've only played here 30 years..." is the kind of comment all golfers of a certain age can relate to, unfortunately! Nice job getting it back on track on the back.
Tough conditions in winter. What a terrific back 9 and Gareths sartorial elegance is wonderful! I have a winter comp coming up on Dec 28th…. Who knows how muddy it’ll be!
It looked as if Gareth had found a ball while you were teeing it up on the 12th !! Well done to all of you for playing that early in the morning with dew everywhere, the older I get the less inclined I get to play winter golf.
Feeling lucky to be a member of a cliff top course with good drainage that rarely has a temporary green and never temporary tees. You played very well and must have been near the top of the leaderboard
A good vlog that Bernie much better back nine !!!! that claw grip on chipping still looks a bit awkward but what ever suits you sir . The course looks good for the weather we have had . Like your vlogs
There's nothing wrong with winter golf, cold fresh mornings, sun coming up, out with your pals Just don't beat yourself up, keeps the swing going, tea and a bacon bap... love it...
Really enjoy these fast paced vlogs. Been watching Peter Finch recently and you get 5 minutes of waffle after every shot. Good round that, that putter's still working. I thought Gareth looked very dapper 😂
Enjoyed the video. Question do you fine playing the claw grip when putting during the winter months harder since you have to give it a bit more force to the putts. Thanks
I feel your pain😅😅. At least you're not on winter temp greens as well as mats. Its been wetter than an otter's pocket in Cornwall lately and now we've got a yellow wind warning for Saturday/ Sunday. Yayyyyy😢😢.
Im jealous Bernie! The ground here in the Chicago area is frozen solid. Chipping and putting on the rug isn’t doing it for me, but that’s what we’re working with
Mrs. Gareth must be a real fine lady for him to go to all that trouble, that was funny. Great turn around Bernie from the front to the back, winter golf can be very difficult.
Just found your channel buddy! :) awesome content! Keep up the good work and hopefully, I'll see you on the course one day. I'll love to welcome you to cambodia to play out there, angkor golf resort and vattanac golf resort are some of the best courses I've played on.
Love it Lester. Great golf and really interesting to see the winter course changes at Churston. I feel like I know Churston quite well even though I live in Leeds! I love that par 3 that kicks the ball to the right and a few other holes have really captured my imagination, maybe I’ll play it one day! The only hole that I feel perhaps lets the course down is the 18th? I was wondering what you thought of this. I guess it’s difficult watching it on UA-cam but it seems like a bit of an uninspiring finish to what looks like a great golf course with a green surrounded by lots of traffic that doesn’t find itself in front of the clubhouse. I would be interested to know what your thoughts are and any other members on here. Why would the 18th hole be designed to finish on that part of the course in relation to the clubhouse?
It was nice to hear you say you’re feeling confident on the short putts with the LAB putter! I know you’ve used that claw grip for a while now, but wonder if you ever try conventional these days when practicing as your bunker swing looks great! 10cm of snow here yesterday so bring on the course vlogs! Are the mats permanent or do they get moved around during the winter on some holes?
I’ve always been a good bunker player Tyler, because I’ve struggled with the short game I guess it goes a bit unnoticed on UA-cam. Some of the mats are permanent and some get moved. If I’m honest and was in charge I’d make them all permanent as the ones they change tend to move a little when you hit off them.
@ Yeah I’ve always liked your bunker play and you’re very confident in them! When you have a shot around the green in longer rough I always think you should just pretend you’re in a bunker and use that swing! Interesting you say that about the mats that get moved and how they move because I thought about that on some of your shots. Thanks for the reply as always Lester!
Reminds me of my days playing winter golf. Freezing my nuts off and thinking to myself "what the hell am I doing here?" Some of the contours on the greens are positively obscene.
Apologies about the delay in commenting, just recovering from Gareth's outfit. Bernie the back nine specialist!! Really interesting to see the changes to Churston in the Winter months, presume any competitions are non qualifiers? Loved the vlog, your greens remain bloody difficult, have messed me up a few times 😂
Good solid round Lester, especially that back nine, got to say your all-around game is looking in pretty good shape...those plus 4s what can you say other than he's a brave man but you've got to stay in the good books of the wife, I know I've been there going home in very dirty bottoms (I am talking about trousers just in case folks 😂)
Decent back 9 Bernie some of those greens look slick for summer golf let alone winter golf. Are you buying Gareth a new light bulb for Christmas so he doesn’t have to get dressed in the dark any more?
Not bad golf Bernie and loving the videos. Need to sort Gareth’s on screen wardrobe sorted - the rolled up licht coloured chinos did not work for anyone except Benny Hill 😂
Love this! Not been watching much on UA-cam this year so only been dipping in to your channel every now and then but I love this format where you show all the shots in 20 minutes or so. Got some catching up to do! Top, top stuff Lester.
I think this is the format I will use for course vlogs moving forward. They seem to be the most popular.
Well done Lester, great recovery on the back 9 .
Thanks my friend.
Lester great recovery after first hole a good reminder to us all Winter golf with your mates is always worth a go just for the banter and getting out of house
Totally agree Keith! Important also for the mental health and wellbeing!
You held that together well. So jealous to see winter golf played off the grass. We've been off the mats throughout the course up here in Glasgow.
We did trial winter mats but thankfully we didn’t keep them John.
Something we're all experiencing this time of year. Enjoyable video as ever Bernie
Cheers Chris. Hoping lots can relate to this golf 😂
Fair play being out in the winter conditions - keep pushing on, the good stuff is in there waiting to come out
Cheers Martyn! Get out the gym and back on the range!
@@berniebarnesgolf well I made the first steps last week - a long road ahead 😂
Well done Lester great work as always
Appreciate that Phil
Winter golf is more about meeting up with people! Love a couple of the shots with the sea behind
Absolutely David! More about the company for me and keeping your eye in!
Hard lines Lester. Solid back nine though. Respect to all the crazies who play winter golf and to Gareth’s wife who managed to get him out of the house and filmed looking like that 🤣👌
Thanks mate! Think she’s glad of the peace and quiet 😂
Another really enjoyable vlog and well rescued after a slightly dodgy start. Greens look amazing for this time of year and you are definitely playing some solid golf - keep up the great work.
Thanks John! Course is great considering all the rain we’ve been experiencing in the area. Most courses are closed.
Lovely day for it. Course looking good, far better than the ones near me. And a cracking back 9 made that a v enjoyable watch.
Despite the constant rain the course is in a decent condition as you say Steve. Up until last week we were on the summer course still!
Great to see the LAB is working for you!
I do enjoy putting with it.
good competition vlog Lester
great golf in winter conditions, course looked good with the weather we’re having at the moment.
loving the putter as well
Thanks my friend. Literally been on the summer course until last week, which is amazing considering the weather we’ve had in Devon!
Winter golf is tough - so nice work !
Commentary was absolutely bang on reality - it was like I was playing there with you !
Thanks Fergus, appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching.
Thoroughly enjoyed the real golf Bernie, thanks. Your winter tees look brilliant, wish we had them up here at Waterbridge!
It just means we can play through the winter Michael, only went on them last week and back on main tees end of March.
Enjoyed that, you played really well especially back 9.
Cheers Lee! Was pleased with the finish.
Good vlog Bernie, course looking great for winter, you're so lucky to be playing at all
We’ve had lots of rain, but managed to cope with it. Up until last week we were playing the summer course!
Brilliant vlog again, really helps to see even really good players out there playing winter golf. Keep up the good work!
I’ve played through the last few winters Duncan to try and get a fast start in April 😂 it’s not really worked, but still hopeful 😂
@berniebarnesgolf I know that exact feeling, and watching you definitely inspires me to keep working on my own journey.
I just feel if you don’t keep your eye on them it takes a good month, 6 weeks of playing before I get back to the same level as before.
"I've only played here 30 years..." is the kind of comment all golfers of a certain age can relate to, unfortunately! Nice job getting it back on track on the back.
😂 after I chipped it, I was like why have I chipped it left of the hole 😂 what an idiot 😂
Love these ‘voiceover’ vlogs!
Cheers Luke, glad you do. Will definitely make these a regular feature moving forward.
Tough conditions in winter. What a terrific back 9 and Gareths sartorial elegance is wonderful!

Thanks Ryan, appreciate that mate.
It looked as if Gareth had found a ball while you were teeing it up on the 12th !!
Well done to all of you for playing that early in the morning with dew everywhere, the older I get the less inclined I get to play winter golf.
He was looking for his pink tee I think mate! 😂
No I was looking for Andy Moore's tee , he's very fond of that tee 😅😅🏴
😂 😂 I wasn’t sure what you were doing 😂
Well done Lester. Such a difficult game in winter. .
Cheers Lou! Appreciate the comment mate.
Great recovery on the back 9 Bernie. Love your playing vlogs mate⛳😎

Nice to see the vlog. Love Gareth trousers and socks. I thought pantomime had come early. He's behind you 😂
😂 love that Phil! 😂
Nice vlog Lester, enjoyed it 👍
Thanks my friend.
Great video, enjoy your analysis of each shot. Very intuitive for a higher handicapper
Thanks David. Glad you enjoyed it.
That's a decent winter knock though pal,i must play this place when its warmer👍
It’s worth a round Steve! Plays well in March/ April and September/ October when it’s less bouncy.
Well played Lester, i like the way the club is trying to manage the course in Winter by adapting some of the holes
Thanks Neil. We have only just gone onto this winter course, which is all credit to the green staff.
Looks like a decent track in the winter. Awful up here though! Keep em coming mate
We were on the “summer” course until last week David. It’s in a great condition considering how much rain we’ve had recently!
Great vlog as usual Lester love the commentary typical winter golf .coarse looks in great condition.😂not sure about those plus 4s .keep at it mate
I’m not sure about them either 😂 saved Gareth upsetting Mrs Jones though 😂
Feeling lucky to be a member of a cliff top course with good drainage that rarely has a temporary green and never temporary tees. You played very well and must have been near the top of the leaderboard
We have literally just gone on the winter course John as it’s not stopped raining for months!
Course looks good for this time of year, you played well fella remember it’s winter golf!
Thanks Andy. The course has been great this winter, only went on the short course last week!
Well played Bernie! Solid round that. Great beck 9. Left a couple out there but you'd take that any day 🙏
Cheers Kev! Really happy with the score, despite the start!
Enjoyed watching you hitting driver more and holing out decent with the lab 👌
Cheers Neal. I’ve still not got total confidence to hit Driver on every tee, but it’s a start 😂
Great golf/video
Thanks my friend.

It’s not great, but it does work (most of the time) Jeff. Hoping to go back conventionally at some stage.
There's nothing wrong with winter golf, cold fresh mornings, sun coming up, out with your pals
Just don't beat yourself up, keeps the swing going, tea and a bacon bap... love it...

Keep grinding Bernie!
Will do Kyle! Thanks for watching.
Really enjoy these fast paced vlogs. Been watching Peter Finch recently and you get 5 minutes of waffle after every shot. Good round that, that putter's still working. I thought Gareth looked very dapper 😂
I’ve always tried to make the vlogs fast paced Phil and never over 30 minutes, think that’s about all a viewer can stomach 😂
Well played after your start.
Thanks, couldn’t give up when I was filming 😂
Classy back nine after a sticky start Lester 👍🏻that was some 2 putt on 17 as well, your putting has been absolutely solid recently 👌🏻👌🏻
Cheers Martin, was pleased with the back 9!
Great video Bernie
Thanks Mick!
Excellent back nine Lester with Gareth the fashion icon. 😂

Love these videos Lester. Currently watching from work in Africa..... looking forward to some winter golf back home in Devon in Jan 😅😊
You aren’t missing much David! 😂 I’d stay til March if I was you! 😂

I honestly couldn’t believe it Dave 😂
Enjoyed the video. Question do you fine playing the claw grip when putting during the winter months harder since you have to give it a bit more force to the putts. Thanks
Absolutely Scot! I’ve tried a couple of modifications, but not as comfortable with the other grips as the claw one unfortunately.
I feel your pain😅😅. At least you're not on winter temp greens as well as mats. Its been wetter than an otter's pocket in Cornwall lately and now we've got a yellow wind warning for Saturday/ Sunday. Yayyyyy😢😢.
We have that same weather warning at the weekend mate, I’ve got a match that’s got to be played as well 😂
Not a bad score being winter. 👍
Particularly after the start Peter!
Im jealous Bernie! The ground here in the Chicago area is frozen solid. Chipping and putting on the rug isn’t doing it for me, but that’s what we’re working with
I’m sorry to hear that Josh. We rarely get snow here, just a load of rain.
No winter mats? Love mine- dreading having to hit it off grass again in the summer 😂
Never had them at Churston Michael, although I’d like them as I’d use the “bounce” and drop kit every shot 😂
Good effort in winter conditions Bernie
Thanks Graham! Appreciate that.
Looks very wet. I’m glad we are on chalk downs so very rarely have temporary tees except a couple of par 3’s
We only went on them last week Graham, fair play to the green staff who managed to keep the summer course open til December.
I'd do anything to get on my course atm. Closed every weekend waterlogged 😭 deffo going to rock the tucked in trousers when I get out 😁👍
I think he’s started a new trend Baz 😂

The 18th is a great hole mate! Railway line all the way down the left and the clubhouse / facilities on the right. The green is quirky too!
@ thought it must be! It’s just the perspective on UA-cam I guess when I’ve seen you and Dan play it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It was nice to hear you say you’re feeling confident on the short putts with the LAB putter! I’m actually a decent bunker player, believe it or not 😂 no issues, so no need to use a claw grip just yet 😂

Definitely a game of two halves
Absolutely Tom.
Nice driving
Thank you.
Is the LAB putter a keeper? Did you get fitted for it, or is it an eBay purchase?
I bought it off Scottsdale golf and did the online remote fitting Eric.

Good Vlog like real golf, how’s the LAB putter?
Really getting on well with it Peter, still miss putts, but feel like I’m actually going to them now!
Gareth’s “plus fours” are nearly as smart as your tapered trousers with the ankle cuffs!!! Tell him to ask Santa for some gaiters or a pair of”spats”.
It’s what all the cool kids wear Andrew!
Apart from the dodgy start not a bad round Lester. I think you should sport a pair of plus fours at some point just for Mrs Jones 😂😂
