I am an IMG from Afghanistan, and have completed my residency in general internal medicine focusing mostly on obstetrics medicine, in Dec, 2022. And with more than 1.5 years post graduate experience. I am going to have my Canadian PR within the next few months. I would like to apply for fellowship in Canada most importantly to build a connection within the Canadian health care system. What is your kind suggestion? Which fellowship is less competitive and between clinical and research fellowships which one could be easier and best option for me? I am not expert in research but I have been local collaborator and national leader in two research projects published in Pubmed.

Not sure how you could focus on obstetrics after IM residency. When we coach IMGs, we take an indepth analysis of many factors to guide what fellowships would best suit them and which one is less competitive.

Sir, our hospital was a maternity national complex hospital so most our patients were pregnant patients with internal diseases and in Canada it’s separated as obstetrics medicine.
