Well, I hung out with quite a few of them at Nats and most of them talked about "back in the day" and how much they liked the beginning of YGO and how there was more real duelists and strategy. I believe most "competitive" players have been playing long enough to love the old stuff. (and they probably grew up watching the show too)

I avoid using cards that are new. I haven't used a syncro or xyz thus far and I keep winning with consistency and I will play like that until it becomes necessary to change.
Tbh that's pretty cool, I mean I use synchro and fusion mostly but that's because I grew up with those. :) But if we somehow dueled I can only imagine how strong you are by still using old strats

So with the 3 anime wins (Duelist Kingdom, 4 Way Duel, and Battle City aftermath) and these two live duels, Kaiba is 5-0 against Joey. NICE!
One thing I hadn’t noticed is that to show the level between Kaiba and Joey, Kaiba uses sleeves while Joey doesn’t see a point in them.
