The all-new, 10-episode second installment of THE X-FILES is executive-produced by creator Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning in their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI Asst. Director WALTER SKINNER. Additionally, the all-new episodes will feature guest-star appearances by Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Karin Konoval, Barbara Hershey, Haley Joel Osment and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as “Cigarette Smoking Man.” Along with Carter, series veteran Glen Morgan serves as an executive producer.
In 2016, THE X-FILES drew an average Multi-Platform audience of nearly 16 million viewers and was last season’s No. 2 broadcast drama. It also was the season’s most talked-about event series on Twitter.
THE X-FILES originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully and Mulder, as they investigate unexplained cases - “X-Files” - for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

the fact that Joel Mchale is a huge fan of the show and got the chance to be on it is just awesome. a show that im a huge fan of, and i just started watching Community and am now a fan of Joel, its just great to see. when i started watching Community i was like "why does the guy who plays Jeff look so familiar?" and then i find out he was O'Malley in the X-Files and i was like "OH YEAH!!"
I first saw Joel McHale on _Almost Live!_ in the 1990s. He’s aged super well!

@@eduardom5873 You seem to have forgotten that the show's creator, Chris Carter, has always been in charge of the direction the show has taken and this didn't change for the revival. I guess he will be writing a letter of apology to you when he realises he should have consulted you before creating the revival episodes. I am sure he wouldn't have wanted to upset your delicate sensibilities by putting out anything that might challenge your political ideology. Perhaps if you ask him nicely he would pay for some counselling for you.
