Loved your video I have this machine & it is very sensitive if you don’t thread it correctly it doesn’t respond very well. After a few hiccups I have now managed to solve any problems. You tend to think it’s the machine but you need to study the manual & understand all the settings.
Hello, I have 4 questions for you. 1) Can you tell me why we have to put the machine off to thread it? Doing that makes it more difficult to thread the needles as the light is turrned off too. 2) Is it normal that the presser foot is so low even at the highest position. I can barely put my light fabric underneath without rubbing it on the feedogs. Even worse with thicker fabrics. 3) Is it normal to have to pull the fabric very hard to get it out of the machine when the seam is done? 4) This morning I tried to make a coverstitch on a extra light stretchy lining. The result was awful. Is this a matter of adjusting tensions or what?
1) I think it's just safer to do it this way. 2) I wouldn't say so, no. Your foot screw may have loosened slightly, you may need to unscrew it and move the foot back to the highest position it can go. If that doesn't help, you may need to adjust your foot pressure which is done by turning the dial on the top (left side) of the machine. Lower the number to decrease the foot pressure, this will probably help with your next issue too. 3) That's probably a byproduct of your second issue. 4) You'll need to adjust your differential feed. Probably increasing the number will help with stretch materials. You will have to test it however. (look up differential feed in your manual and it will help you to understand) If that doesn't work, try doing a narrower stitch as wider stitches can be harder to work with on thin stretchy fabric. Hope this helps! Good luck!
1. Are you sure that the pressure foot is installed correctly? If you've removed the pressure foot and are then installing it; you need to make sure that it's latched on around the little metal BAR that goes across the middle of the pressure foot. Also, the black wire that surrounds the foot, needs to be on top of the foot. Sometimes, it's easier to install the pressure foot correctly if you first remove the needles. Then you'll be able to see what's happening when you lower the foot to snap it on. 3. Yes. Rotate handwheel so that the needle/s are in the highest position. Lift presser foot. Pull fabric towards the back of the machine. Cut threads with scissors. 4. Try turning Differential feed to less than 1 and do a test stitch. Are you using Jersey/ballpoint needle/s for 2-way stretch fabric. For 4-way stretch fabric, use Stretch needle/s. You may also need to adjust thread tension and or pressure foot pressure. It's difficult to say, without having seen your fabric.
Hello, I am still having a hard time with my Brother CV3550. Here is my problem. When I use it for fabric like a tshirt it is fine. However I need to use it on very light fabrics (lingerie) it does not work well. I did lower the differential but it did not really helped. I am using 3 needles and it makes 2 'bumps between the 3 rows of stitching. Any advice?
Hey again! Sorry to hear that. If I had to take a guess I would say that you'll need to turn your lower looper tension down to reduce the lateral pull. If that doesn't work you can always tighten the upper loopers. Just make sure you increase/decrease slowly and keep testing to see what is changing. Best of luck!
@@SewingMachines_UK It took me all day yesterday to hem the lining of a dress (very light stretch fabric). Still it is not perfect as there are a few skipped stitches - always on the left needle, I changed the needle twice, tried several tensions,, change differential and tension on the pressure foot, even change threads - nothing worked. One of my friend has a Babylock coverstitch and she does not even bother to change tensions or anything weither she is working with thick or light fabrics. Really not the same with the Brother. That machine is driving me crazy.

You're very welcome, thank you for watching!

Hi i bought the same machine for my wife and the needle section doesn't move up/down have you had any similar issue thanks
Hi! By needle section, do you mean the needles themselves or the feed dog that is on the bottom that moves the fabric forward?
