Joe is the real deal. Take the time to study with him and watch your knowledge grow and it will allow you bass playing to soar. I finished the Bass Foundation course a couple of months ago and it has moved me light years ahead of where I was. I put in about 2 hours of practice a day now that I am in the Bass Mastery course. I wish I had learnt this earlier. I spent so much wasted time playing scales in one position repeating only on the octave. Missing a good understanding of the fretboard and only being able to play in a very basic way. Awesome video as always.

I am doing the two-year course everyone, and I highly suggest it. I have made some great leaps in one month, the fretboard is already greatly de-mystified...I've been picking up somgs way easier by ear due to the training in arpeggios (bass foundation course)! Hi Joe, at 9:15 you talk about associating the shapes that you're practicing with the sound they produce, which I think is the ultimate goal of practicing, I also want to add " sing what you play (the triad here) in order to be able to play what you sing. so that the bass and your ownself could at last be just one, the music coming out of the instrument be more organic straight from your inner ear.
Your kind of on the right track, but you need to lose the mysticism. Singing is good, but unless you are a singer, it's not something you want to spend a lot of time on. The thing to focus on is "listening" while you practice! Ear Training is about memorisation of sound- period! If you have practiced major triads for an hour and cannot hear or recognize the sound of a major triad- then you're not listening while you practice.
I think it's pretty well explained at 5:31 in the video. Maybe switch to a "full screen" view on a large monitor so you can see it more clearly. Failing that, my next Bass Foundation Course is open for enrollment.

Hi, can someone please explain what "stacking" fingers is? I've been playing a year and a half and it's new to me.
