She is a huge dog. And what a beautiful soul she has, that Hugo being a small breed dog, stayed with her even though small breed dogs are usually wary and skittish around big breed dogs, as I'm sure she protected him and he came to trust her. One of the biggest yet most friendliest dogs I've ever seen. I'm glad she was rescued and treated for her mange. She deserves the best this world has to offer.

I rescued a dog from Romania 5 years ago. I was made aware of her by a friend on facebook who kindly paid all the fees to get her over to me in the UK. She had been living in a rescue for two years and had become so depressed she had decided she no longer wanted to go on and had totally stopped eating.
I remember the day she was brough to my home, she had to be carried into my house because she was too frightened and traumatised to walk in herself and she actualled poo'd herself as she was carried down the drive.
The first time I saw her in the flesh I honestly thought she was a greyhound cross because she was the size of a greyhound and I could count every rib in her body. The lady who brought her over gave me all the details they knew about her and her passport and paperwork. She told me that Coco was unresponsive to people and could be a little aggressive if she felt stressed or pressured. I always remember the last thing she said to me before leaving was 'Coco will only ever come to you for food she will never want love or neither will she give it'
For the next 6 months Coco wouldn't come near anyone. She would eat her food but stay in her own little space and would scarper out of a room if someone came in it. I persevered and gave her the time she needed. Slowly as time went on she gradually started to change.....
Five years later Coco is now a different dog. I cannot sit in my living room without her coming and lying her head on my lap to get her head scratched. If I stop I get pawed until I start again. She is not your normal dog and neither will she ever be - she still doesn't like being touched on the back and can still be nervous but she is fit, healthy and happy.
The moral of the story is that no dog should ever be given up on - I was told that Coco would never ever love - Five years of patience have proved that statement wrong :)

Why is it that the most gentle and best of dogs always end up with the mange or other physical issues? And why can't something be done about the people who put these beautiful souls out on the street to fend for themselves? Both of these dogs are sweethearts who just want to be loved unconditionally! I'd never be a good foster mom as every single cat or dog I fostered would end up being a fail when I decided to make them permanent members of my family! I'm thrilled both of these babies are now in their forever loving homes! 💕💕

Wow. This one made me tear up a bit and I said Aww a million times. As soon as I saw Elsie and especially when I saw her eyes I just saw a truly beautiful soul. The 6 months later reveal made me Aww even more. She's such a beautiful puppy girl. She's a true gentle giant. I love how she always shakes the paw. It's the cutest thing. I can't wait to eventually begin looking into adopting a more senior dog from a no kill shelter. Kind of find one who really needs a soul to bond to and because they're older they're not really adopted because families are looking for younger dogs so that they have them as a family member for a lot of years. I want one that's say 8 or 9 and I can give them a good life and a happy home and have a companion I can pet and love on until they ultimately do the "Sigh, Dad..I love you and I know you love giving me love but give me a break" lol. I want one who needs that and will be a companion for me to spoil and make happy as they truly deserve it.

I have seen several dogs that were abandoned when they got this mite-induced disease call mange. People before me stopped and nearly picked them up until they saw that mange...it is easily transmitted to other dogs.

A great match and both parties are very happy with the outcome. Doesn't really get any better than this for animal or new family members. Well done.
