Le Centre Pompidou est un bâtiment complexe situé dans le quartier Beaubourg du 4ème arrondissement de Paris. Il abrite la bibliothèque publique d'information, le plus grand musée d'art moderne d'Europe et un centre de recherche musicale et acoustique. En raison de sa situation géographique, le centre connu localement sous le nom de Beaubourg a accueilli plus de 5 millions de visiteurs en 2013.
Construit dans l'ancien quartier du marché en 1977, il s'agissait du premier grand bâtiment « à l'envers » avec ses systèmes structurels et mécaniques exposés à l'extérieur : les tuyaux verts sont la plomberie, les conduits bleus sont destinés à la climatisation, les fils électriques sont enveloppés de jaune et les extincteurs sont rouges. Le jury Pritzker a déclaré que le musée Pompidou "a révolutionné les musées, transformant ce qui était autrefois des monuments d'élite en lieux populaires d'échange social et culturel, ancrés au cœur de la ville".

Pompidou Centre is a complex building in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris. It houses Public Information Library, the largest museum for modern art in Europe and a centre for music and acoustic research. Because of its location, the centre known locally as Beaubourg had more than 5 million visitors in 2013.
Build in the former market area in 1977 it was the first major 'inside-out' building with its structural and mechanical systems exposed on the exterior: green pipes are plumbing, blue ducts are for climate control, electrical wires are encased in yellow, and fire extinguishers are red. The Pritzker jury said the Pompidou "revolutionised museums, transforming what had once been elite monuments into popular places of social and cultural exchange, woven into the heart of the city."
