Mostly it looks pretty good, except that the real thing is more cramped than the model would lead one to believe. But, that's probably because of the missing wall makes it seem less closed in. Also, if I'm remembering the type IX in Chicago correctly, the interior hull was painted in a pretty bright shade of white.
Actually there is a mod around that mimicks the interior of the movie "Das Boot". Having that installed gives especially in first person another touch to the game and leaves the vanilla state a good way behind
This may be old news, but at 29:35 or about that time when you mention morale. You have the skipper and an engineer in their bunks with 2 sailors each assigned. They contribute only to increase loss of morale due to “too much work from officers”’. Release them and that message would disappear. :)
Hi Wolf, the reason those destroyers heard you was because your electric dive planes were active. you have to have an engineer right click on the dive planes and switch to manual. If you have the tool tip to tell you how much noise they make, they're louder than the motors at even medium speeds. The game does a terrible job showing that though.
@@johnnyboy5405 Dive planes are bassically fins on the side of submarines that allow the crew to angle the submarine while diving or surfacing, so they can use the actual engines to increase the rate of accension or descent instead of relying entirely on the ballast tanks.
Extra water buildup in the bilge can happen if the crew doesn't keep the hatch leading to the conning tower closed. Something to keep an eye on from time to time I've noticed.

The destroyers would conduct a box search after the ships were torpedoed. When you altered to the East they went past you then altered course to head E and South. The AI is pretty accurate.
When you right-click a leak you can choose two options: to repair it or to limit its flow by 90% (hand icon). So by assigning two officers to one leak you can repair it and prevent heavy flooding.

3:00 -- RE: "They really need something between 48x and 1800x ... " -- Gee, I dunno! The major problem of time compression is that there are multiple ways to consider the "ticks" as it were, and time compression schemes are almost as various as attempts at a submarine simulation or game. Consider -- we can use (A) exponents, or (B) factors of 10, or (C) COMMON FACTORS. I added the emphasis there to make it clear, I know where I'm going. (A) Exponential method is usually to raise or lower the exponent to change the time rate. Thus, if we're using seconds, it's 1 second, 2 second, 4 second, 8 second, 16 second, 32 second increments. Notice, after 5 levels, 1 second is approximately half a minute, so that after 6 levels, the game effectively replaces seconds for minutes. And, after another 6 levels (ie. 2 ^ 12) the same will happen for hours and minutes. Arguably, this is the best method for naval simulations as well, because of the relationship between nautical miles and minutes of longitude. The downside, though, is that this is the most computationally intensive. (B) Factors of 10 are not as useful for time compression, because 10x10 seconds is almost 2 minutes. (The previous example has an hour which is 4096 compressed ticks; an hour only needs 3600.) This is *not* as computationally expensive, but it has a much larger margin of error due to the compression. (C) And so, what's the relationship between 48 and 1800? Check them as fractions of 3600. Quite obvious that 1800 is half an hour, (60x60)/2; and moreover, if I am to divide 75 by 2, I don't get a whole number but a neat-o fraction, 37.5 . Funny stuff, converting between Nautical Miles and Kilometers also ends up on this same string of numbers. 10 NM is 18.52 kilometers; 20 NM = 37.04 km.
I got curious about (A): 2^11 + 2^10 + 2^ 9 = 3584, only 16 ticks shy of 3600... or 2^4. Also, it bears mentioning that to get a tick of 1, I need to use 2^0 as the "baseline" tick/time rate, and all changes make sense from there, up or down. Below 0 is even possible for slow motion.
It's typically good to have a few firing solutions worked out before you fire anything off. The moment the first torp hits, all the other ships start taking evasive manoeuvres. Best to have everything timed to hit almost simultaneously.

Neutral ships had their own shipping lanes and ran with lights on. 2. Visual distance for periscopes at night was extremely short and Very seldom used. That is why u-boats attacked on the surface at night. If a night surface attack cannot be done in the game it indicates that visual sighting of u-boats is not well modeled. They were extremely hard to see due to small size and low profile. Just a couple points from a realism nerd...
You're very experienced with the controls these days. Have you released a tutorial for the beginners? I'd like to suggest firing at your targets starting at the furthest one from your boat, then the next closest one and so on, the object being to have your torpedoes arrive at the same moment so no zig zagging is underway and the destroyers get no warning you're there until it's too late and you're already escaping. I admire your coolness under fire. cheers!
Fantastic comment! Also, adjusting the speed of the torpedoes to help simultaneous impacts is another tool in the submariners tool belt. The U-Boat is an ambush predator after all...when surprise is lost, depth charges drop.

@@Ganymede1986 I served in the german navy in an Type 206 submarine as a navigator.
@@hamzajas1532 I understand, I was referring specifically to the effects the lights have in the game.
@@Ganymede1986 Oh, that was maybe so in ww2, my father served in a type VII sub in ww2, he said that it was f*ckung awfull lol.
How do You have those extra buttons when pressing "TAB"? Is is an addon?
i think its a mod, and the big convoy too i think. i didnt see any convoy that big in the little time i play( i bought it 2 days ago)
Jawohl Herr Kaleun!
This looks like an interesting game. Did you ever radio in your sunk ship report? You talked about it while submerged, but I don't recall you actually doing it once you surfaced.
he did at the end. buy the game at steam, in my country it was $220ARS that would be $2USD, and its pretty good still in development so new stuff will be added
can they hear the water pumps?
where do you find news about this game? really would like it but would like to see more boat variants
You should do these vids more often, make a series
The problem is the patches mess up saves. I will wait until the game is further along for a series.
Kool game subscribed
Hey there, thanks a lot for sharing. Great video! Would you mind telling me how you make the ruler (map) show the course/direction?
Statistically speaking in World War II it was safer to be a kamikaze pilot than a crew member on a German U-Boat
Do a series where the torpedoes are used only against military vessels, the gun to the freighters
Love the vids, subbed!
How did you get your ruler to display the heading on the map?
Dive planes! Switch to manual. Electric is loud.
When you are getting the distance you have to go up with the E button, not down with the Q button.
What's the difference in rigging for red vs. blue? Obviously it's for night vision, but when would you use one vs the other?
In this game, can we set solution on multiple targets and then launch the torpedoes at them on the same time?
Love the videos. And really enjoy world of warships but was thinking of getting this game would you recommend it?
Sorry for the stupid question, what's the purpose to change the colour of the lights??
In the game the different lights give your crew different buffs. In real life red light is used to preserve night vision.
Sabaton feeling.
this is good shit mate
What are the different lights for?
nice man, any news about the full release??
Hey Wolf do you have a video of a hunt with the manual firing solution off? Can you believe I am struggling to put my officers to do the job. Started to play less than a week ago. Thanks for your help😊
34:20 that cant be healthy :D
Hi, what time compression mod is this? Can't find it... Thanks for the video 👍
How do you manage to crash into a damn freighter? That helmsman should be court marshalled XD
Have any former submariners actually vetted these type of games? It would be interesting.
The idea of micro-managing the crew doesn't appeal to me at all so I don't play the game, but it's fun watching so thanks for the good content!
Me neither, but i think it would be better if the crew were quicker to do things and moving from one task to another.
Hi. Did you made a Video were you got hitten?
Hi what mods are you using?
There is a mod to add a TDC is very well modeled and is compatible with b127
