Look at Lang Lang's smile and face expression. He's having the best time of his life.
one of his best times!!
Totally agree
@hawtchick69
r/youngpeopleyoutube
@hawtchick69 Huh? I'm talking about his facial expression. It's clearly he's enjoying the moment.
Is he by any chance related to ling ling
Lang Lang
Has taken my sight
Taken my speech
Taken my hearing
Taken my arms,
Taken my legs,
Taken my soul,
Left me with life in HELLLLLLLLL
I agree
LANG LANG... NO! OH GOD, OH GOD PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! AAAAAAAAGH!
😆
5:53 you've gotta admit it, that transition was awesome!
Thats what I'm here for!!
Goosebumps!
Best transition ever!!!
Man, I really enjoyed Lang Lang's energy and spirit, you could tell he was having an awesome time, and his fingers were an absolute blur on those keys!
I can't think of anyone better to collaborate with Metallica than Lang Lang as far as choosing a classical pianist to rock with. Lang Lang is so comfortable and never afraid to explore the unknowns. Plus, with his natural showmanship in front of audiences, I think Metallica must have appreciated Lang Lang's presence along with them. It was an eventful collaboration.
La musique n'a pas de frontières. J'ai adoré la collaboration de Lang Lang avec le groupe Metallica. C'est génial! ❤❤❤❤❤
if you are metallica, and you have played this song thousands of times normally live over a nearly 30 year period, ( expect for the 1 off S & M conert) you are entitled to have some fun with a remixed live version with a special guest, to help freshen the original song up so you dont get bored and keep it fresh and interesting, this is why i love Metallica, they dont give a fuck about breaking the rules with experimenting with their musical sounds, you dont have to like it, but you will respect it
The S&M there were 10 shows of tht and also a little after 2000 there were a few with special guest but I do get wut u saying
They need to do this a lot *cough* SANDMAN *cough*
I'm a fucking fanboy so maybe my opinion does not count, but I agree with you. Metallica don't give a fuck, even if some fans do not like it "man, we're the fucking metallica: we were probably doing world tours before you were even fucking born. And you think you can tell us what to play and how? That's just not how it works."
there it is again, the arrogance
If they gave a fuck and were afraid to break the rules, they wouldnt be Metallica would they?
that piano solo was brutal
cooke86 right? Lang Lang really killed it haha
SUCK
Capitão América I like it
@frankibarra2865 how?
I thought it was good.
dont be a liar and call yourself a music fan if you cant appreciate one of the best pianists and musicians in the world Lang Lang
He is a incredible piano player he screwed the heavy part
Agreed. I just tried to wipe that fly off my screen. 😂😂😂😂
Well he is a very skilled pianoplayer and fits pretty good in this setting. But there are some interpretations of Mozart he made that I really don't like.
may be, we all can aprreciate him for his playing but in one sounds so badly.... i am sorry but it is not good....
@Fire and Ice lol ok edgy kid that likes all the not famous stuff because they want to be different
What a unique version, I liked it!
He must have practiced for a Lang Lang time
James Caldwell
dude im seriously cracking up so bad now
Dude you are a genius
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
If you are German, this is much much more Funny because long means Lange. So long Time is Lange Zeit
I love this, two different music styles coming together, idk why everyone wants Lang Lang gone, he's one of the best pianists out there and the piano doesn't even affect the song that badly. I think this is amazing
I feel the same way. I think the piano adds a more ominous tone to the already dark nature of the song, despite the fact that it seems very improvised from Lang Lang. I like this a lot.
The piano definintely adds a thicker texture to the song but there are some points where you can tell he's just improv and it sounds god awful but when he plays along with the song it certainly isn't bad, and the octave jumps are enjoyable.
Not just amazing, more than amazing!
Classical and metal aren’t really all that far off. Classical is basically metal before electricity and distortion
Symphonic metal has been existing since 1986 so it's not fully a different genres😂
Everyone knows classical was the grandfather of rock and heavymetal, listen and learn.
Mark W I just don't think it fits when combined. and I like both styles. Just like I don't think a Dave Mustaine guitar track would "fit" in Mozart's Requiem
Mark Foster Listen Avenged Sevenfolds requiem bro its awesome!!
oh somebody has to listen guys like rachmaninoff or even chopin the etue in E minor or G minor ballad
Listen to ''Reminiscences de Don Juan'' by Franz Liszt. Or ''Totentanz'' by Franz Liszt. That's pure Metal
i think you mean blues homie. classical, besides maybe influencing some lead guitar shredding, only maybe a little Wagner or something had a small impact on heavy rock. blues (and country/hillbilly) is the roots of rock and metal/
3:59 That awkward moment when your voice cracks and the delay effects make you hear the issue several times as it loops, xD.
Mr. Nerve Damage lol
What the fuck was that hahahah
doesn't sound bad to me. Not even sure his voice is cracking, he's just jumping to much higher notes, and he's hitting them pretty well to my ear.
Simon Piano, no, his voice definitely cracked, but he's not much of a range singer. His singing is good because it has a crap ton of power like when he's shouting. As for hitting high notes, yeah, it's not the best. And no, his shrieking from KEA and RtL are not the same thing. Love James. he's amazing, even as a singer. But yeah, his voice definitely cracked there.
Fucking hilarious
I love that Metallica are willing to try different things, even when they know the fans stuck in the 80's will moan about it. Shows me they are still in it for the music and fun, not just the money and fame
Still Lulu was a garbage avant-garde metal 😅
They’re stuck for a reason
This would sound much better without the fucking piano
Marcel V they tried this shit in 2014 with the same guy and it sounded just as shit and everyone hated it why did they do it again
Ryan Whitear because why would metallica care about your opinion
RickGrimes41 yes and I like the guitars
Fortworths I don't know dude, it sounds to me like Lang Lang is playing the chords pretty well. What is it that you think sounds bad about the piano? Because to me the piano sounds really good.
Then listen to one of the million videos where they play live with no piano.
So, I guess the camera men don't like Rob.
It's a song from AJFL, so they have to pretend bass doesn't exist.
Temmy9 *FOKKING
Poor crab man
Carrotdrink *FOOCKING
@@MoonatikYT LOL
This is one of the best things I’ve seen in a while.
You can see throughout the performance Metallica start to come alive when they notice Lang Lang’s playing and how well it compliment’s their playing. Kirk’s solo in particular I noticed he kicked it into a higher gear, started expressing more with his playing and his face about halfway through. A beautiful show all around.
Metallica has performed their music with an orchestra and with cellists, now a piano. They are not afraid to try new things, and honestly they sound really cool
YES!!! I gotta react to this!
also to if spit out the bone was on ajfa with vocals
+Andrew LaSarge spit out the bone ride version is better dude
Andrew LaSarge nah. Not interested in vocal covers of Metallica songs
you sure? he did it with guitar razze and it's actually pretty good. sounds as close as you could get to 80's Hetfield haha but I get where you are coming from
everyone has their own opinion.
A perfect fusion of one of the best rock band and one of the most talented pianist of all time - works perfectly well. Who knows what Chopin would have composed today ?
It’s amazing to see how music can bring two countries that don’t really like each other together. I love how James stands by Lang Lang at 4:46. THE POWER OF
MUSIC AND METAL!! 🤟🏽
Actually it's the governments of those two countries who don't like each other.
Wait, it's actually the common boss (the global financial elite) of those two countries that orders them not to like each other.
Chinese people have contempt for the CCP but cant do anything about it.
4:43
Metallica do something different for one show only, everyone complains
Sam Perkins true. I respect that they want to try something different
Sam Perkins Metallica do something different, a 'double album' in 96 and 97, change styles. Everyone complains
Credit for the concept, debit for the execution
yeah, fuck opinions
People always looking to pick out the negative things over the positive
For everyone hating on Lang Lang, post a vid you playing this song in key, while improvising on the piano, or fuck off, Metallica is one of the few bands that appreciates metal's roots in classical music. Also, for all the "fans" that are hating on Kirk, play it better than that with the fingers of a 54 year
Please
may be kirk playin super but presonal he is jealous so kicked out the dave mustaine.
biff supreme Metal has no roots in classical music. They may be similar in a couple of aspects but metal is just harder heavier rock, which originated from afro-american music. In any case its obvious the piano doesnt fit, its a solo instrument and doesnt blend into the melody with the other instruments. I dont think its lang lang's fault, it was probably just a stunt, reminiscent of the collaborative album we don't talk about....
look up literally any of the biggest names in metal guitar and they'll all have dabbled in learning classical music
julien astier Ever listened to Diamond Head before? Metal has close associations with classical. Thrash isn't the entirety of metal.
All music has 'roots' in classical. It's a bit of a weak association though, just because Malmsteen and the like play very classical inspired music it doesn't mean metal is particularly influenced by classical. Most people pick up guitars because of bands like metallica, Metallica picked up guitars because of bands like Motorhead and so on. Just because you play guitar it doesn't mean Mozart is suddenly one of your musical ancestors.
I feel bad for Lang Lang because he had to keep track of Lars's Tempo
Haha, that tempo is nothing for Lang Lang, compared to some of the Chopin, Tchaikovsky, etc. pieces he's played, this is a fairly slow paced song.
@@christopherlavs1698 he means it's all over the place
OMG I WAS THINKING THE SAME HAHAHAAHAHAHA but actually Lars did well here
If you know drumming, Lars is not a great drummer
Del Taco James jazz
Lang Lang seems to have refined his arrangement over the 2014 grammy awards version! Blown away at how quickly he adapts to a metal setting, this is how music progresses and moves forward!
Hell, orchestra nowadays can play Prodigy so fast paced metal is OK 😁
I like how simple James is dressed. No fancy, useless bullshit.
Dying breed
Adding a world class musician like Lang Lang adds credibility to Metallica's musical talent and displays a mutual respect amongst the performers. I love it!
Cliff Burton would approve. I think classical and metal do go together. S&M is one of my favorites. Spit out the bone!
These genres go together since Symphonic metal exist😂
Lang Lang's lookin at Lars like:
-Could you please keep the tempo?
Imagine if the roles were switched. Metallica plays Chopin, Liszt, Schubert (edit: etc.)
They could probably pull something like it off. It wouldn't be a performance that's anything like how Lang Lang would approach it, but a lot of metal players have classical exposure if not training, and they could probably find a way to twist Liszt into something within their style.
They played a few seconds of funeral march
Actually that would be an awesome idea and I can think of many Beethoven pieces that would fit right in with a Metallica theme and especially Rachmaninoff!
This is great! Classical musicians should do this more often
please no, this was the worst thing i´ve ever seen
eduard0Fernandes you're dumb
This shows that Classical music can rock too. But in a different way.
John Yang Piano Ever heard of Steve Vai?
Just dont look at the comments. Never
Ever heard of Yngwie Malmsteen?
Lang Lang playing in a concert with Metallica is something I’d never thought I would ever see! But, if anyone else is familiar with his skilll, likes him, and can appreciate how talented a pianist he is, in this case he’s playing more as an ‘entertainer’ than usual. I wish most (except for the brief solo) of the sound of Metallica didn’t ‘drown out’ portions of the piano!! He did a few great performances with the 2CELLOS and the 3 of them were able to be heard equally (1 was ‘Live and Let Die’ at the London Palladium about 6 years ago), and that’s what I was hoping to see in this one. Oh well, I still enjoy it. (BTW - I’m 67 years old!)
9:00 Well, that's something you won't see often.
Metallica always put on a good performance.
I went to their concert and it was the best experience of my life.
their energy is fuckin awesome!!
I agree
I just wanted to leave a thing: BEST FUCKIN ONE PERFORM IVE EVER SEEN
The piano solo before "darkness" was just beautiful, Rob´s bass was awesome, James vocals and adaptation to Lang Lang were pretty good and i saw Kirk very comfortable and relaxed in the scene.
The only detail missing, THE BACKING VOCALS
And it's ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!
@@user-kt2ke9cd5p that’s where Jason would’ve fit in perfectly.
Lang Lang looks so happy while performing with them, I can feel his excitement even! I liked that they decided to have a pianist play onstage with them, for I always adored the idea of pianos being one of the instruments used in songs like One (and metal songs in general, haha).
The best part for me was at around 6:42 to 6:52.
Notice Lars trying to stay on tempo. Pulls it off pretty well.
DeadSaige now he is getting better unlike kirk who is getting worse
Spoodermen Produktionz Lars could even hold Daney Carey's sweatband.
Man, Kirk is getting sloppy. He used to be so tight back in the day. I bet he wishes James and Lars would've written another Load album, so he could just use wah and play bluesy double stops all day.
Kirk solo is very very good here, like album version, lars also is getting better.
yeah but he takes easy way out at the end of the solo
8:37 "On the pianooo!" Is James imitating an Asian accent? XD
"asian accent" ? Really?
I love this. I really admire bands who get out of their comfort zone every now and then and do something that is not 'easy' or 'safe'.
I wonder how Lang Lang could play well even with all those pyrotechnics, epic stage lights, and the sheer noise level.
They have in-ear monitors, so they can hear themselves.
WOW! Great job Lang Lang and Metallica.
Fantastic performance. Lang Lang did not fuck this song, he added to it in a freaking awesome way.
This performance he sounded like he was always meant to be there and made an already epic song even more epic.
Would LOVE to hear a studio recorded version of this.
This would be awesome in studio, and especially with S&M² around the corner, this is making me more excited for it!
7:19 Kirk going ham.
Pianist:" o shit hes playing so many notes, gotta keep up with him." *smashes arm on the piano*
Basically what every 8 year old kid does at the music store when they see a piano
Y'all saying hes not metal but dude got so amped up that he started smashing his forearm on the piano keeping up with the metal. Go linglingling
The marriage of metal and classical elements is so powerful. I'd love for Metallica to do another S&M-style concert, although somewhat different next time around!
This comment section is very closed minded.
Foraict With or without the piano, is the same.....
js007kcor He said in his opinion for a fucking reason dipshit.
OilZing nbxjaut
no offense but it feels like kirk had lost some of his skill on guitar...
SweetKim Gaming He's been on the decline for years unfortunately
AZenith22B yeah i've noticed but that doesn't mean that i hate metallica the new album was awesome.
well hes getting older, sadly hat stuff happens... I still don't think hes bad though, ive been playing since ive been 10 and im not even close to being as good
Erik Jonsson i never meant that he was bad just that it is just a bit sad that such a legend of a band in the metal history is getting old and closer to the end of it
He has arthritis on both hands
The boys really brought their A-game to this performance. Feels like they skipped the loose, live sound and opted to impress the shxt out of the pianist
Absolutely killer. A true testament to Metallica's roots in classical music, alongside S&M. Can't do this with many bands, but with Metallica it always turns out amazing. Lang Lang did an amazing job adding new sounds to an old tune. I love this kind of experimentation.
I'm a heavy metal fan, I never thought that something like this ever would work but I don't think it could have worked any better. The transition to the fast part was amazing on Lang Lang's side.
how much air do you blow if you're a heavy metal fan?
Post confusion
it will be tomorrow, or "the day after tomorrow")
The day that never comes
Richard Raithby I was going to say that
Peanuts&Corn confusion's more common to one i think.....
BooneVille SPIT OUT THE BONE. I think this is badass though.
I heard Lang Lang years before I heard Metallica. Just found this collab, I’m enthralled!
This sounds pretty damn good! Love the way the guys pause to give Lang Lang his solo and then BAM!! Darkness imprisoning me!!! BTW when will you guys post Confusion live? :]
The improvisation with the piano added a new feel to the song. One of the better performances of this song. Hats off!
This is fantastic. Brought back memories of the S&M days.
The music language is the international one🤘Talented people understand each other on the higher level
So true! Maybe in a way it’s the reason why there are so many negative and hateful comments on this video in general, Lang Lang, and the fact that he almost single-handedly ‘ruined’ this piece with Metallica! I think it’s bc those who wrote such remarks are NOT ABLE to recognize what ‘real’ talent and music is! Perhaps they’re just stuck in a rut, or can’t open their eyes to something new and different, like this!? Music is a personal choice and preference, and there is something that can ‘speak’ to everyone - for those who dislike this one so much, all they need to do is find the ones that do, that is unless they’re too lazy and narrow minded to take the time! I ❤ Lang Lang, and as a pianist myself for more than 60 years, consider him as one of the best ones there are - 👍 to him!
That’s one of my favorite performances of the song. Absolutely beautiful with the piano.
Should've got VKgoeswild instead.
Can Coşkun Yeah!!!!
Can Coşkun yeah!
Can Coşkun anyone except lang lang
that would be a nice performance
Metallica TV actually liked one of her videos, so they are aware of her.
This is badass. Anyone who says this is dumb, obviously doesn't understand Metallica.
5:19 transported me right into the movie and then at 5:52 BANG! That was awesome!
This song is simply spectacular.
Ese chino es telible
Creo que primero debes investigar a Lang Lang... lo que si es que siendo esta la segunda vez que los *acompana me sigue sonando como fuera de estilo, me gustaria escuchar una version en acustico.
Thomas Inda jajajaja
jajaja
Thomas Inda eres telible
jjjajjaja o sera el fantasma del concierto de los guns and roses haciendo de las suyas otra vez
That was awesome! Better than the first time you guys did this! I love Metallica and also Lang Lang. Have to see this Piano genius live some time... I'll see Metallica in Copenhagen! Can't wait!! 🤗🤘🏻
When a piano star meet a legendary metal band: It's amazing! It change to see Lang Lang on a metal show and it's a real pleasure to see how they having fun playing together.
This is honestly super dope. Seeing Lang Lang and Metallica sharing the stage and jam the fuck out is simply an experience of a lifetime.
the shivers when James starts that intro are real...
Okay at 5:20 and I was expecting the guitars to come in and play that kickass riff but the piano came in and started playing shit I was like what the hell is this but when it ended and the guitars came in I realized that that was really fucking cool and different I liked it alot
Thats my favorite metallica video right there dude!
That's a colab I never thought I would see
Metallica the best !!!!!
PLAY SPIT OUT THE FUCKING BONE!!!!
Wow, I can remember when Metallica came out whoooo. To see them become the BEST at what they love to do.....
Metalifuk 4 Real !🤘!🤘!🤘!
And this guy jammin with them ,wow !!!!
Simply Fabulous!!!
Thank you Lang Lang, very cool and creative.
I thought it was really good. I like how Metallica is so humble and accepting towards Lang Lang
Genius!
Masterpiece!
Perfect !
This performance is the best performance ever 👏 I will keep going cheer up you as one of korean fans
What a very special and unique collaboration I absolutely love it..
I'm digging the piano. Gives it a nice rock ballad feel like Estranged and November Rain by GNR, and Lights by Journey.
Fuck, piano over the sounds of guns in the intro is a great addition. I honestly would love to see more content like this. Loved it when Jack Black sang "one", loved Miley and Metallica together and loved Lady Gaga's voice with Metallica's as well. When done right, other artists complement metal music.
It's called bridging the gap and the respect from one musician to another. It's quite apparent how SO many of you fools have no idea what life in China has been like for AGES!!!! To see and hear this collaboration is truly incredible! There was a time when the people of China had no way of hearing a band like Metallica. Imagine North Korea now. Take your blinders off people!
It's probably a deep breath of fresh air for them to finally play a song they've played the same way thousands of times, only slightly different.
Que grande como tira los cuernitos, parece que el señor Lang Lang disfrutó la experiencia, el tema es impresionante jamás cansa..que flor de composición
I like how at 7:47 James looks over at Kirk like “hey dude what r u doin? Oh doublin cool.”
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Thank you!
Loved this collaboration so much!!
Lang Lang did his thang thang 😂
Lololololo
not funny, because lang is pronounced as lahng
it’s not layng
@@Aerochalklate no it's not funn
It's hilarious😂😂😂
Much like performing with the Orchestra a few years back, only Metallica being the kind of band they are could pull off a piano on a song like this. Or any of their songs for that matter, and the crowds in China,Japan they are incredibly respectful and appreciative of anything a performer does. I really like this and think it's just them showing how versatile they are. No body HAS to like it, that's fine but I personally love how they are all still together after all this time, and still giving us something different and of course things we know and love from them.
this is one of the best performances I've ever seen. Each time I watch it i get chills. I love to follow Metallica around the world. I saw them in Bogota Colombia!!!!
This gave me the ultimate spine tingles. The most metal thing I’ve seen in ages.
Kirk wanted to kiss him at end xd
sample text I died 😂😂
sample text coz he's Chinese 😆😂
Lars - Way better
James - Way better
Rob - KILLING IT LIKE ALWAYS
Kirk - What happened to him man ? i heard he can be insecure at time but does it really affect his playing like this ? i really don't want metallica to end, atleast till' i see them live .
Ktuulu the piano is really distracting. Even as a guitarist myself trying to play the solo over that would fuck with me so much.
TuningSociety West i guess i just have higher standards for them because they are one of my all time favorite bands //:
Ktuulu the guys are touring, tired, they ain't young anymore. Only human. Sometimes you just can't get into it or hands play up... Let alone that annoying piano
TuningSociety West i really really don't want to see metallica come to and end, atleast not yet .
Better for them to retire then pass away as a ending.
The fact they can still play this good live 30+ years and counting is insane! Metallica the goats of rock and roll 🤘🏽
This was amazing... True artists, Metallica and Lang Lang, all in the same field of MUSIC.
One❤️
nice metallica is still in 2016... sick!
Mr. NoName 606 *2017
iamdb1990 true...
Love it!!!! Another great take on my favorite song
From an 80's metalhead that still makes music... I approve of this collaboration.
Now go check out Pavarotti and James Brown doing, It's A Man's World.
Another fabulous collaboration with both artists giving mutual respect to each other.
~ Music Soothes The Savage Beast ~. 🎭
I was so good at time keeping.. how could he fuck that up.... 05:26
this NEEDS a studio version.
I absolutely love the piano!❤️ it shows more emotion to the song because this song is actually pretty heartfelt it brings out the sadness in this song❤️🖤 absolutely love it!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was awesome!!!!
