My friend was a FIFA fan. He had FIFA 12 and he loved it. He bragged about it so much. One day I invited him, along with 3 other friends (who of course were FIFA fags, I mean fans), to my house. We played PES 12 and their impressions were "This is too realistic." Three weeks later my friend bought himself PES 12. And now he asked me if PES 13 is out in stores now.
PES may lack EPL licenses, but their representation of La Liga this year is unrivaled. 20 real-life La Liga stadia, along with it's unique entrance for each team, unique chant, and beautifully crafted stadium. You don't even see EA put all 20 EPL stadiums in their game even though they hold the rights for eternity. And i don't have to start with UCL and Copa Libertadores. Gameplay wise, it's miles better. No 1-2 lofted through pass. More possession and midfield battle.
FIFA: football game in Premier League (strong defence, tactical attacking and passing, players are disciplined). PES: football game with your mates in school (defenders/attackers going up and down the field with no tactics playing any role on the outcome).
i realy like how fifa fan boys criticize PES for the sound, presentation , decoration but when it comes to the gameplay they keep on silence. everyone knows that PES is a football game for Professionals players

There are some things you can do in pes that just aren't nearly as fluid in fifa. I was playing as Real Madrid against Barca, and I had a shot outside the box with Khedira and it deflected off Pique so perfectly that I could run up with Ronaldo and score an absolute screamer. Fifa to me just feels way too scripted at times and when I play Pes, I actually feel like the game is making me work hard, not like fifa which is frustrating to play because the game decides what will happen in a match.
PES 2013 does indeed play better than FIFA... I'm inclined to say it always has even in its darker days but Master League just doesn't cut it any more. I like playing Manager Mode and picking a team from English League 1 or 2 and building them up, creating a youth academy and playing through multiple seasons, getting promoted every season. This isn't about real/fake team names or player names, I just want a deeper management/master league mode and PES 2013 doesn't offer that.

its like every year they add a single thing, thats what they do in pes as well, lots of smaller adjustements that add to the experience... same thing if you ask me

I don't understand 'get what you pay'. Both games retail for pretty much the same price, don't they. As for the game, well I always found FIFA guilty of all the faults you've listed for pro. FIFA is very formulaic, I always found Pro to be much more organic and the gameplay much more rewarding. Even this review mentions the "sublime" gameplay alongside the obvious faults like licences etc. I guess it's just about opinions at the end of the day, I'd dearly love FIFA's licences/Pro gameplay.
PES now can only match FIFA in multiplayer gameplay, where you play against your mates and not the A.I. (although, still, most goals seem random and are scored by accident).
Check your history. FIFA took PES core mechanic, control, layout and pretty much make their old PS2 game as the template since the beginning of 2008. Also, PES had their own skill games which was called "training challenge" 10 years ago until they got removed in this gen console. If anything, it's FIFA that copied plenty of PES feature and ideas.
best game ever is PES 2006, after that it was a downhill road for PES and uphill for FIFA. but both will never really get there due to graphics improvement which negatively affects gameplay and flow of motion.
yes, but in all honesty i used to play PES up to 2 years ago when i realized that NOTHING changes with this franchise, apart from few improvements with the gameplay. PES USED TO BE better than FIFA. Now FIFA has better gameplay, because you play the game as a real game of football, not a bunch of guys going randomly all over the place without tactics (PES). And both these games are now like iPhones and CODs. Still great to play, but every year it's a transfer update and minor improvements...
I think you might be exaggerating just a little bit. And the reviewer (I'm 90% sure) said that goals were to easy to score in FIFA 13, not unrealistic, whereas in PES 13 goals take more work to produce.
I agree with you there!! But hey it depends on what game you started to play with first as a kid too, FIFA or PES... I played PES 2 or 4, dont remember, since then I never liked any FIFA game. Except FIFA11 and FIFA12...but I prefer the PES franchise.

PES is a realistic alternative to football, it is good fun. 90% of people play the PES demo with the wrong controls and don't give it a proper chance. I gave it a chance and I loved it, the game play is awesome. FIFA's skill system is flawed, pace is too important and passing players like Pirlo/Xavi are useless. FIFA is ahead feature-wise but PES is making a comeback. I hope they rake in some profits.
Way more than 8 for me, for the first time in a while I actually prefer PES over FIFA. The gameplay is much realistic. Players like Pirlo and Xavi are crucial in PES, where as they are awful in FIFA. This is why I love PES so much this year. The gameplay has definitely been improved a lot, but I agree that the features in this game are no way near as close as FIFA. Commentary and music, I turn off anyway. I will still be getting FIFA but mainly just for Pro Clubs.

Im 25 years old and been playing footy games since FIFA International Soccer (1994) and can truly say I've nevr enjoyd a footy game more than the early PES games. Every goal was different. FIFA has implemented many of the early PES features (power bar, skills, shoot fake, chip shots etc) but I still feel like da game has too much control ovr what happens in a game. However, dis isn't saying that PES is great (been shit), but its more likely to come up with a more purists football game than FIFA.

A) why would fifa take a hint from a series thats been dying up until this years installment. The demo looked promosing, but once u hop in fifa 13 match, today, u will see pace abusing...
PES 2011 is the their best game. After that the player movement started to mimic FIFA. People started disliking PES because of graphics but FIFA graphics are cartoonish anyway.

I've played these games since Fifa 1995. I started off preferring FIFA. As time went by the ISS/ProEvo/PES games shone through for a more natural organically controlled game that didn't feel like it was on rails. I give the smallest of s**ts about menus/gamemodes/commentary (which PES has always been pretty useless at..some of their graphics decisions, wtf). And yes you CAN smack it in from 30 yards everytime if you play with Barce/Reals players every game. - comment continued....
Totally considering getting this, I have owned Fifa 10-12 and am very dissapointed with the Fifa 13 demo, its almost identical to 12, if I get PES it will feel completely fresh
My 9 year old cousin used to win me at PES (2012) with 35 meters shoots, while running, and the keeper was a blind bitch, it isn't a matter of skills. FIFA is a better game, and you should know that, and why don't you play with all settings in manual? players in FIFA fall when hitted, in PES if someone is running he will always do a frontflip or something, players run like "ethiopians" mixed with horses, they never feel tired, you can evade every player in the other team without using skills.

Not even close to an 8.0: - No authenticity (no more real team names, embles or leagues than the past 5 years). - AWFUL commentary kills the flow of the game. - Same modes, almost NO improvements or additions than last year. - Not all transfers until 31 of August (yet). - Same idiotic menu system. - Just 8 songs are licensed (not good songs either but better than last year's). The improvements in gameplay are important, but they alone are not enough to make it shine.

I love both games. Over the last four years i have played both versions, and i always thought FIFA stood out to be the better game, this year it's different though, this Pro Evolution is the best football game i've played. Period.
FIFA sells more because the presentation is better and, crucially, they have all the official licences. Don't fool yourself, pro has always been the better and more playable game...it just doesn't have licences and presentation/commentary. FIFA is a good game for less skilled players who want to pick up and play quickly. Pro is better for anyone who actually values gameplay and longevity.
It's impossible to say whether PES or FIFA is better.. everyone has there own opinions, some like the way PES plays and some like the way FIFA plays - simple as. I PERSONALLY PREFER fifa but that doesn't mean it's the better game! Just my opinion!

Have been a fan of Pes right from the start and Iss before it, Haven't rlly liked Pes since 2009 edition, which i had on ps3 and on x box 360, now on fifa 12, fifa does get tedious at times, but it's always kept my attention right till the next one,, Just started playing Pes 12 again, yes the Master league is getting boring, but on the pitch it's still fun fun fun, and frustrating, Bloody can't score for toffee against AI, playin with mates is where it's at.

There are a lot of changes than pes 2012, only players notice that, I never take these reviews seriously they mostly talk shit, gameplay differs that's what matters. PES has its own, FIFA own, both give us a different experience.
I don't care which one is better. I just wanna say that this reviewer is clueless about fifa. You can see that in 3:40. There is nothing "automated" in fifa 13 once you set everything in controller settings on manual.

Gamespot complained about FIFA allowing you to score unrealistic goals. Not one goal in this review is realistic in the slightest

FIFA is a better game, and you should know that, and why don't you play with all settings in manual? players in FIFA fall when hitted, in PES if someone is running he will always do a frontflip or something, players run like "ethiopians" mixed with horses, they never feel tired, you can evade every player in the other team without using skills.
eggsactly, if you wanna talk variety and quality who else to look at than ronaldo? free kicks, outside of the box, headers, backheels what else do you want? on top of that add 17 assists u have the most complete footballer ever, i really dont get ur point, besides arguably messi who else scores quality goals in numbers besides ronaldo (excluding messi)?

Not even close to an 8.0:
- No authenticity (no more real team names, embles or leagues than the past 5 years).
- AWFUL commentary kills the flow of the game.
- Same modes, almost NO improvements or additions than last year.
- Not all transfers until 31 of August (yet).
- Same idiotic menu system.
- Just 8 songs are licensed (not good songs either but better than last year's).
The improvements in gameplay are important, but they alone are not enough to make it shine.

I love both games. Over the last four years i have played both versions, and i always thought FIFA stood out to be the better game, this year it's different though, this Pro Evolution is the best football game i've played. Period.
FIFA sells more because the presentation is better and, crucially, they have all the official licences. Don't fool yourself, pro has always been the better and more playable game...it just doesn't have licences and presentation/commentary. FIFA is a good game for less skilled players who want to pick up and play quickly. Pro is better for anyone who actually values gameplay and longevity.
What happened pes? You used to be the king of soccer. I'll just play FIFA for now and try to catch up

It's impossible to say whether PES or FIFA is better.. everyone has there own opinions, some like the way PES plays and some like the way FIFA plays - simple as. I PERSONALLY PREFER fifa but that doesn't mean it's the better game! Just my opinion!
What you don't understand is that the fact you and some of your friends prefer pes does not make pes better.Of course a lot of people prefer pes to FIFA but FIFA is better on everything mate...

Have been a fan of Pes right from the start and Iss before it, Haven't rlly liked Pes since 2009 edition, which i had on ps3 and on x box 360, now on fifa 12, fifa does get tedious at times, but it's always kept my attention right till the next one,, Just started playing Pes 12 again, yes the Master league is getting boring, but on the pitch it's still fun fun fun, and frustrating, Bloody can't score for toffee against AI, playin with mates is where it's at.
Easy, AI and game flow of FIFA always < than PES ... PES haven't all licenses that's bad but I prefer PES.
i see pes very try to make the gamplay getting better after year, pes 2013 was worth it, fifa is still the same from 10. But i play both, fifa make me have fun a lot, play pes was sometimes boring hut when get used to it , it make me proud when i have this game

There are a lot of changes than pes 2012, only players notice that, I never take these reviews seriously they mostly talk shit, gameplay differs that's what matters. PES has its own, FIFA own, both give us a different experience.
I don't care which one is better. I just wanna say that this reviewer is clueless about fifa. You can see that in 3:40. There is nothing "automated" in fifa 13 once you set everything in controller settings on manual.

I play both games. prefer Fifa nowadays, eventho with some patches PES could be more accurate than Fifa..but gameplay wise Fifa is better..Pes just need new engine, it feels like I play PS2 game with an awesome graphic. with that Graphic player movement looks so robotic..Pes is the best football game on ps2, I really wish they use new engine
well to be honest both FIFA and PES has its unique style of playing and u cannot judge them ...like FIFA is better of PES.....so my vote goes to both of them....i play both of them...:D
