I think the Dodgers are waiting on Shohei Ohtani. They have been oddly passive this off-season. I think they’re saving money and/or prospects to getting him.
As a Dodgers fan, you hit the nail on the head with the Dodgers. A lot of people are way overrating how bad the offseason was. The team is certainly not the best in baseball, but is still among the upper echelon.

As a Dodgers fan, a reset is needed after the collapse in the last playoffs. Yes, some of the "star power" isn't there this year (as you said, both turners are gone), but the lineup is still pretty good imo. There might be some concerns with Muncy, Lux and Taylor (just to be clear, I believe in all of them and think that they will bounce back), and we also have some young guys that might crack the opening day roster (Vargas, Outman, etc). Plus, I think that another reason for that "reset" this year, and also a reason to why we didn't make many big moves this off-season, is Ohtani. We all know that the Dodgers are one of the strongest contenders to land him (probably tied at 1st with the Mets). So yes, we probably won't get again to the 111 wins mark, or even 105+, bus I don't think we'll be bad. Until a different team wins the division, it's ours to lose
Muncy was back the second half of the season. Lux was really good prior to injury. Taylor will do good and so will a couple of the rookies. Not to mention Thor is due to a comeback. The Dodgers are almost as good as last year which got them 111 wins.

One of the main reasons the Braves were able to overtake the Mets last year was Degrom and Scherzer were unavailable for stretches of the season. Whenever the Dodgers have doubts going into the next season they somehow exceed expectations, coming from a Giants fan I somehow expect the Dodgers to win 100+ with a roster that on paper should have a ceiling of 93 wins. I also somehow expect the Padres to greatly underperform with a roster that realistically should usurp the NL West from the Dodgers this season.

Either way, I doubt they’ll win the division, but honestly, after last years disaster, idk if I really care how many games they win, if they make the playoffs, they can still win or lose like everyone else
I think the dodgers will be fine, media and other fans are just running with the idea that because they didn’t spend a lot of money, they’re gonna an 85 win team.
I’m a Braves fan thinking the same thing. I don’t really care how many wins we get or if we win the division. Just get hot at the right time and make the playoffs.
When you have 2 top ten right handed pitching prospects, the #2 ranked second base prospect and the #5 ranked 3rd base prospect, you can afford to let go of Tyler Anderson, Hanie and Justin Turner. I thin the Dodgers set a high standard when it comes to roster builds but give credit to them for developing players even though they never draft high, and finishing strong every year. They are poker players and will prove it once again.
Sal Frelick will be brought up this season and be a great player for the Brewers and potentially Jackson Chourio might get brought up to the majors, but at least will rake in Triple A.

This isn't really a hot take but: The most important 2022 pitching rotation keep tabs on in 2023 is not actually the majors. The Cubs top 5 prospects that have not pitched professionally or in the majors will play a good percentage of their games in AA. Jordan Wicks was the 1st Rnd Pick of the 2021 and played pretty well despite the traditional numbers. He sits 91-93 with the 4-SM and has the wipeout plus-plus change along with a good slider and a work-in-progress curve. Next step: add a tick on the velo or develope and solidify his sinker/curve. Ben Brown started 7 games at AA once he was traded and other than his 2nd start in AA, (3 IP, 5 H, 5 BB, 6 ER), pitched to a 2.57 ERA and a 41/8 K/BB in 28 IP. This due to a 94-96 4-SM and a good slider to go with it. Next step: work on the changeup and solidify the power curve. If he can't figure out an effective change, he could still be a ligit weapon out of the pen. The 3rd guy is Daniel Palencia. Acquired in the Chafin trade, he had 21 starts in A+ last year. The first 11 starts: 4.78 ERA, 7.9 H/9. 2nd Half: 3.11 ERA, 5.5 H/9. Next step: show consistency: he had 3+ BB in 6 of his 21 starts and 11 starts with 0 or 1. Also a good bullpen piece because of potential control issues. Luis Devers is the opposite of Palencia. While Palencia relies on a 96-100 FB, Devers sits 90-92 with his 2-SM and also has a good sinker. He really relied on his plus to plus-plus changeup in his 117 Innings last year. A really good comp for him is Adrian Sampson with a great changeup instead of a great slider. Next step: he added 3 mph to his 2-SM last year so maybe he can push that to 92-94. Also work on the slider. He could have a 2-SM that works in, a sinker and changeup that go down and right, and a slider that goes down in left! The last guy is DJ Herz. He has serious control issues but incredible stuff. His *career* 5.24 H/9 in the minors is unmatched by anyone in this system. With that comes a career 5.86 BB/9 in the minors. If he can get that down to 4-4.5, we could be looking a Josh Hader ceiling. This rotation has finesse, inning-eating guys, (Wicks, Devers) and some pitchers with big stuff and control problems (Pallencia, Herz) plus Ben Brown. The real test is: can the Cubs improve these guys and have a 2021 Brewers staff with Cy Young candidates and 2 lockdown closers in 2025 with Horton and Ferris on the way? Or will the pitching infrastructure be the letdown once again in this next competitive window.

If Trout and Rendon can stay healthy, then they’ll make the playoffs. Shohei rarely misses a day and nearly carried the team last year. However, he can’t do it alone. The tanking started happening when they had to rely on AAA and AA players when the the top of the roster players got injured.

Writing before/ as you talk, giraffe neck dude. Dodgers will be fine. They will be a playoff team, may be a quick exit, maybe not. I a Dodger fan am not struck by any of our losses except Tyler Anderson. All others don’t matter, but Trea Turner and it is just the drop-off. The difference. They improved on Justin Turner. Trea isn’t a 300m player. Trea has stone hands, he doesn’t work counts, is too swing happy. like him but, goodbye. The drop off on offense will exist. It doesn’t go to zero. I’m excited to see our kids play. We may drop from averaging 6 runs a game, but that was nuts. Never doubt Andrew Friedman. He isn’t a sucker for a bidding war on Trea Turner. If he was resigned, it’s the same team. Not taking him @ 300m is a great decision.
I think that if Rhys has a more consistent year and stays healthy he could easily be a top 15 player in the nl. He’s an excellent player when he’s hot, like 4 game hr streaks and multi homer games. He has excellent approach to the plate too. Rhys can hit with the best of them, he just needs consistency. If he can do that he is in the mvp conversation.

Is there any chance of some college baseball coverage in the future?? I know you’re a gamecock fan so I think some SEC baseball coverage would be sick. College baseball in general needs more coverage
Hot take: The Mariners can win the AL West in 2023. I know it doesn't seem like it on the surface, but after taking a deeper look I believe that they could genuinely be just as good, if not better, than the Astros.
Let alone Jordan Walker, you could argue the Cardinals might have the best top to bottom lineup in baseball. Even the guys who didn't hit that well last year (ie Tyler O'Neill) are due for a bounce back
Dodgers have 12 players that mate at least one top 100 prospect list this offseason and this isn’t even counting De Paula who looks like he could be a top 10 prospect in all of baseball very soon. They are giving their farm a chance in 2023. See what prospects stick and then spending massively in free agency
My Angels game experience: Trout Homers, Shohei homers, angels lose 9 to 2

Im a Phillies fan and I think that the last one is way too optimistic. I completely agree with you in saying that the Phillies can win the division especially with Harper coming back midseason but I can't see them winning the division by more than 2 games if they win it lol
Dodgers have Rojas at SS now. Muncy will be at 3rd and Lux will play 2nd. Those aren’t really holes?
Yeah I feel like people only look at lineup. Anyone that knows ball can look at Padres and Dodgers rotation and know Padres are not winning
@@dodgerblue482 dodgers sure are not winning in the playoffs
@@tylerdell1878 nope better than padres
@@tylerdell1878 you can’t predict it, b it dodgers are clearly better
Dodgers are a regular season team who choke in the playoffs lmao
For the first time in a while, all five teams in the AL East finish over .500.
Depends entirely on how the Red Sox new players perform.
'Buy or Sell' the Marlins finish in 3rd place ahead of the Braves and get the last wild card spot.
Mike Trout is the best regular season player of all time. But not the best player of all time until he wins a ring
Hot take: Jameson Taillon has sub 2.75 era and finishes top 3 in cy young voting (helps cubs to playoffs)
No
I believe brewers actually wins it division and I feel sal Fredrick breaks into the majors and hits over .300 an play good defence and be one of the best contact hitters in the league , yelich, winker and Adams’s hits like an all star
If Trout and Rendon can stay healthy, then they’ll make the playoffs. Shohei rarely misses a day and nearly carried the team last year. However, he can’t do it alone. The tanking started happening when they had to rely on AAA and AA players when the the top of the roster players got injured.
Dave being Dave. Front office doing too much.
Hot take: D-backs grab the last wild card spot after having an elite rotation and a bunch of hungry prospects (Moreno, Carroll, etc..) doing the job. As I look at their roster and don't have many wholes
Hot Take: The Padres will have the best infield in terms of defense and offense in 2023 and Fernando Tatis Jr will come back and take the Padres to the World Series and they will win their first World Series title in Franchise History. From a Padres Fan!
That last sentence explains it 💀
I’m fully in on this
Do you think the Mets win the World Series and Pete Alonso has a 45+ home run season and wins MVP
Hot Take: Padres are the team to beat I’m the NL. They’re better than Dodgers, Braves, and yes, Mets. Mets didn’t get better. They just replaced and resigned players.
“And that’s why The Mets will win the next 100 world series”
Omg Marc reserving a special stop for phillies hot takes hahahahaha best part of the video. Hopefully my phils prove your wrong, I don't think they will, but I wish they do.
Arizona makes the playoffs and makes a massive trade for Corbin burnes and Willy Adames
Mike Trout will have an 1.100 OPS this year and win his 4th MVP
W (im a massive angels fan
You could make a vid on who benefits from the shift van this year team or player
The last one was comical 😂
We all know who wins the NL East. Same story, different year
That Rhys bit was so funny, I have a relative named Rhys and he’s… interesting
Dodgers going for ohtani and the bellinger dude hit the nail on the head
lol
People need to know, only winning the World Series only gives them a shot to bring Ohtani back. There are no guarantees. Also, if Othani leaves, I can see trout think about requesting a trade.
You said Piccini right the 2nd time 😂👌
Kinda related to that Philly hot take at the end:
In spite of the hundreds of millions of dollars hurled at free agency by the Mets and Phillies, the Braves will win their 6th straight division title, in more convincing fashion than the previous year.
There was a time in the not too distant past when the Dodgers were like Charlemagne and Genghis Khan. They were everybody’s daddy. They have incredible depth, so they should be ok. The NL west is going to get really interesting in 2023. 5:59
Trea Turner will have a down year (.265 average) with the Phillies partially similar to Lindor in his first year
here’s one for the white sox, grandal moncada and giolito all bounce back, and led by an mvp type season from luis robert the white sox win 95+ games
Mitch White powered by the tweets about him and Margot Robbie becomes an all star.
We arent that good cuz we fail to address the bullpen every freakin yr. It kills us in the postseason.
BTW when will u be reviewing the top 100 prospect lists again?
Hot take : The al rookie of the year is won by one of the Yankees middle infielder guys ( volpe or peraza ) and also is likely both are up in the majors by game 40
i like where the Dodgers are going, maybe they are saving for another big name, maybe not, but I do know they have some young talent they believe in, I wanna see these young players rather than trying to replace every position with a superstar
Cody smokes too much weed..don’t see that changing in Chicago.
You need to make more of these. Love your vids
Do you think that the Phillies have a down year (not as good as expected)
I know I completely agree with you on that I do not see why people just get mad when someone doesn't want to resign sometimes she go to like an area that's the life of a Jones fan. We are dealt with a lot of people getting opt out signings because no one actually wants to stay here. We love them as friends as much as we can but that's not always enough sometimes it's about the living situation outside of the game and that's OK to Graham didn't wanna stay in New York that's fine
Anthony Volpe gets called mid-may and instantly makes an impact hitting 15 home runs and winning ROY
Hot take jrod wins the MVP, Mariners win the division.
HOT TAKE: u cannot say Julio Rodriguez is #1 CF in baseball cuz u know. Mike Trout is a thing.
He said Julio was the #1 YOUNGEST CF in baseball. Can't really say Mike Trout is young anymore.
@@88CDawg true
Idk if this is controversial, but Angel's have the best OF in baseball with Ward, Trout, Renfroe
Hot take: Tyler O'Neill plays 130 games and returns to his 2021 form and gets MVP votes...
Buy or sell: Jack Flaherty throws 200+ ip and finishes top 3 in Cy young, and the cardinals trade for a solid #2 and finish with the #2 seed
DeGrom finishes the year with a sub 2.20 ERA ... In his 22 starts
Vlad wins AL MVAP
Manoah wins Cy Young
And Jordan Romano wins Delivery man of the year
Here’s a buy or sell. Because the Giants failed to get Judge and any of the Top 4 FA SS, both the Giants and Angels will have the top 2 worst records in baseball
Buy or Sell: Austin Riley has an MVP run, Strider in Cy Young Contention, Braves to Wild Card, and they lose in the NLCS.
Austin Riley surpasses guys like Arenado, Machado, and Ramirez as the best 3rd Baseman in Baseball
Dodgers are better than padres simply because pitching matters way more that lineups and Padres rotation has no depth. They have a acceptable top 2 but the rest is terrible
The Dodgers don't have pitching depth either
@@michaelrotter1134 Pepiot grove miller stone and a great rotation ain’t depth?
Thank you for saying what needed to be said about the name Rhys
Any MLB players before the 80s cannot be considered the greatest of all time
For all we babe Ruth could have been on steroids
Degrom will become the Clemens of this generation.... in Texas, he will be a beast... as a Yanks fan, I dont want to hear that, but as a baseball fan, I would love to see a few healthy seasons of one of the best pitchers we have seen
Rhys Hoskins catching shots 😂😂lmfaooo
So my Buy or Sell would be the Mets fail to win the division this year because starting pitching got hurt for a decent chunk of the year.
the A’s surprise everyone and win 80+ games
😳
HOT TAKE: Twins manage a LA angels like scenario where they have 3 big players in Buxton, Correa and Gallo(with new shifts restrictions) but don't manage to win over 85 games
Which total will be higher at the end of season.. Number of twins wins, or number of Buxton games played?
JROD wins MVP and leads the Mariners to a world series title
Hot take: Orioles win 90+ games and Adley is a mvp candidate and Grayson and Gunnar are top 2 in al Roy
Angels fan here. I’m predicting 3rd in division at best.
That Hunter Renfroe picture haunts my dreams.
Machado gets the bag from Uncle Stevie? That’s definitely happening.
machado isn’t leaving the padres, owner doesn’t care about money and the fans love him too much
The insane way the playoffs work now, the Dodgers just need to win like 88-90 games. They’re going to be at least that good.
The Royals will be above .500 this upcoming year! As a Royals fan I have been dying for some success from the young core.
Hot take: Miami change their jerseys to every day city connect and have the funnest team in baseball despite winning 80 games.
Hot take: Corbin Carrol puts up insane stats winning roty and leads d backs to over 500 record and third place
Buy or Sell: Judge Wins Back2Back MVPs and hits 60 homers again
Story is still playing second base, Kike is playing short.
Story likely won’t play at all this season. The red sox have already said he is not in their plans for this season. Kike at short and arroyo at second
Hot take: the Tigers will win 75-80 games despite people thinking they will be one of the worst in baseball, we see guys like Meadows Baez and Tork improve hitting as the outfield walls move in
As a Padres fan I appreciate the shit talking on Rhys. It is totally the dumbest name in the league lmaooooo
Is there any chance of some college baseball coverage in the future?? I know you’re a gamecock fan so I think some SEC baseball coverage would be sick. College baseball in general needs more coverage
This was either..
A: recorded around a month ago
B: everyone just forgot Trevor Story might be out for the year
So no, he won’t have a career year 😂
Hot take: The Mariners can win the AL West in 2023. I know it doesn't seem like it on the surface, but after taking a deeper look I believe that they could genuinely be just as good, if not better, than the Astros.
🔥 Hot Take: Gleyber Torres doesn’t finish the 2023 season with the Yankees
Let alone Jordan Walker, you could argue the Cardinals might have the best top to bottom lineup in baseball. Even the guys who didn't hit that well last year (ie Tyler O'Neill) are due for a bounce back
Jarred kelenic projected 2023
357. Avg 374 OBP 2.100 OPS
68 HR
Buy, Buy, Buy. Not even a hot take
Dodgers have 12 players that mate at least one top 100 prospect list this offseason and this isn’t even counting De Paula who looks like he could be a top 10 prospect in all of baseball very soon. They are giving their farm a chance in 2023. See what prospects stick and then spending massively in free agency
