I imagine Franklin: "The Second of July...hmm...implies second place, that we're not quite good enough. No, that's won't do. First of July? No. That's when the rent is due. We can't get that confused with liberty and independence and such. The Third of July...third...sounds like bird. They'll lampoon us as the Birds of July. Fourth of July. Aha! Yes. Fourth, makes one think of 'going forth". Yes, yes. Where's my quill? Ah! In my pocket, damn these things..."
I disagree on his view of the 2nd amendment, Washington wore a brace of pistols whenever he travelled, as did many founders. Having said that he is able to write short, fast paced books, that are informative and well researched. My favorite book of his will always be Founding Brothers.
I disagree with Ellis on his take of the second amendment. Madison would have specified it was only for members of the militia and not leave it up to interpretation.
I have read his books. But after his stolen valor episode by falsely claiming to be a Vietnam vet I became less of a fan. To me Ellis has now became nauseating. Seems he can no longer give a talk without giving his feeling about Christianity and his feeling on Donald Trump. I listen to hear about history. I don’t want to hear his atheistic views or how much he despises Trump.
100 percent. His writing is excellent. But his liberal fury comes out and makes him less credible. In this episode alone he mentions Scalia about five times, and he does the same towards conservatives in other videos. You are less credible when you get political, Mr. Ellis.

So, you're disagreeing with Madison then. The guy who wrote it.
@@MrBaiyifan Nope. Madison intended it to be an individual right.
31:07 Wow, she's attractive.
Hot
Interesting video and will probably buy the book. I just absolutely can not stand his sinus clogged giggle laugh.

The constant "okay" and gross sinus-y snickering makes this unwatchable.
Who is the lovely brunette in the front row??
