      That's why it's a great video...maybe best. I'm 13 years experienced but mostly controlled wiring. Haven't had to bend no EMT for a while mostly ridged...wish more would make the mistake on purpose and show the fix ..I might have to once I get money to spend on pipe instead of living and food

    Thanks - became a journeyman in the city then worked in oil sands for 7 years. After that, took another 7 years off electrical work for personal issues. Just got back into the trade after 14 years off (didn’t do anything practical in oil sands, just cable tray and basic terminations)! A little nervous to be a rather unskilled journeyman although I have installed plenty of EMT before and this will be helpful for me at work tomorrow

    Please please answer me I'm really very confused, that how to know which degree we need in offset or 3 point or 4 point saddle?
    10" 22" 30" or 45"
    If i want to make 35" inches offset how much degree should i need or if i want to make 3 point saddle for 1 inch conduit how much degree should i need?

    • @ahahn2
      @ahahn2 Рік тому

      It depends on how far you need to offset, how much room you have to peform the offset, and how much allowance you have in your bends before your next pull box. You can't add up to over 360 degrees between pull points, and over 180 is going to make the pull difficult depending on how full the run is. So if you don't have far to offset and you have the room, a lower angle will result in a straighter run to pull wires through. If you don't have a lot of room to get the pipe offset over or to clear your obstacle, you'll need to use a steeper offset to make it fit. For saddles, 45 degrees for the center bend is the most common.

    So first bend at the star & the other bends at the arrow?

    • @empoweredkc
      @empoweredkc  Рік тому

      Your Center bend needs to be on the notch (on Ideal benders). The outside bends are on the arrow with the mouth facing the centerline. Great Question.

    • @stevenprebeg
      @stevenprebeg Рік тому

      First bend on a 3-point saddle is at the notch always … I was confused watching this until he fixed it 😂

    • @adamdemartinis72
      @adamdemartinis72 Рік тому

      The Notch is the center of a 45 degree angle and where all 3 point saddles should be bent from on the center mark. The long part of the star is the back of a 90

    Is the multiplier always 2.5 no matter what size conduit you are bending?

    • @ahahn2
      @ahahn2 Рік тому

      always 2.5 for a 45 degree saddle, regardless of the size of the conduit. If you use a bigger angle to jump a larger object, you'll need a different multiplier and shrink rate. For a 60 degree saddle, the multiplier is 2.0. Most of the time, you'll want to use a 45 so, 2.5 is the only multiplier you need to remember for saddles.

    So the 1st time for the middle bend you do the star. Then for the other 2 you use the normal line at the end of the tool right?

    • @empoweredkc
      @empoweredkc  Рік тому

      For the center bend, line up the mark with the notch on your bender. The two outter makers line up with the arrow but make sure the mouth of your bender is facing the center line.

    I like your explanation & free thinking, but your pipe looked like shit because you didn’t use the notch. It’s not the STAR. Stars are only used for b2b 90s. Not for saddles. You’re always supposed to use the rim notch for the first bend & not the arrows. The only thing it’s used for is the first bend of a 3 point saddles & should be on both sides of your bender. That little indention right after the star is your rim notch.
