Theres a funny gag about this on Blunder's channel back in ORAS days where hes like iirc making a video parodying "how to be good at pokemon" shitpost and hes like ok time to get a good team, searched on youtube and found that his search result are mostly heattah fajita and CTC and hes like "fuck that" and straight up searched Jamvad's teambuilding series video It lived rent free in my head as you can tell
Working with a sample team has improve my gameplay greatly. In gen 3 My average elo was around the 1200s. After taking a break from showdown, i decided to come back and focus on improving. So I went to the gen 3 sample teams and took the big 5 star tss balance (top one). After a few months of grinding I manage to reach over 1500 elo with it, and it more than just improve my game sense, but also my teambuilding. I saw what works and what doesn't. At the moment, I'm averaging 1400 elo with my own teams and the highest I ever been was 1598, and I've been one game away from 1600 elo several times now only to choke lol. Tldr: sample teams increased my elo by over 200.
Old Gen sample teams are really good for their optimization. Look at snorlax EV spreads in physical offense for an example. New gen samples aren’t great since they end up outdated really quickly as vital mons in cores become suspected or banned or outdated as the meta keeps shifting.
28:38 I think it's about 140 HP / 72+ Atk / 252 SpD / 44 Spe, assuming the Rotom-Wash was max HP. I used 44 Spe because that's what the sample set said but the sample teams with Melmetal run anywhere from 40 to 60 so I'm sure it's flexible. What's cool about this spread is that it has nearly identical attack and special bulk to 212 Atk / 252+ SpD / 44 Spe, which is what I thought it was initially as I was following along, but the higher HP stat increases the physical bulk as well, which increases my confidence that I guessed about right. I guess it does mean that you're more vulnerable to Pain Split, though...
Just one note, future sight on specs users is usually not preferred just because you only get the boost if your own mon is holding specs on the turn it goes off. For this reason scarf lele uses future somewhat commonly pretty commonly, but specs just takes extra coverage to hit more things hard and get more use out of its item choice.
If anyone was wondering about the music around 21:20, it's the Sinnoh Pokémon League lofi theme by insaneintherainmusic, with Adrisaurus on the vocals. It's just a gorgeous piece, especially when 22:16 hits
Some work friends and I created a pseudo Pokémon league for our company where we’re gym leaders and other employees can challenge us. I wanted to test my mono flying team, so I took it to the ladder. I ended up getting to 1550+ including starting 16-0! I have extensive experience and have topped the ladder before, but you can really explore a lot from a meta game and have success even without an optimal team :)
I clicked on this vid expecting to be greeted by handsome BKC face but got showdown footage instead 😞. I am thoroughly disappointed, 7/10, still good points made.
I always love watching the play by play analyses you put on your channel or just in general. It gives the viewer insight and showcases good decision making skills, which is more valuable than just using the same team as a tournament winner. Using another person's team is simple, but knowing the ins and outs, advantage state, and having that situational awareness to find the win condition is something else entirely.
There's definitely something like team / knowledge check. If you don't have a good team you don't get to play. Just as important as putting in the effort to get better, is that you have to put in the correct type of effort. You won't get the correct type of feedback or put in the correct type of effort if you are losing to team checks in a manner out of your control.
Not sure if you've already tried this or its just a computer issue, but have you tried changing your FPS setting on OBS to get rid of the frame rate issue?
I'm a big pokemon and have a pretty sizeable knowledge of all sorts of facts and niche interactions. I really enjoy the team building more than the battling, but I struggle with knowing what's good. I keep tweaking teams to get them to where I think I play best with them. I think my main issue is playing in a lot of different tiers. Do you think that even if I'm not using the sample teams but rather learning whats common in a tier?
I'd argue that the opposite would make sense (disliking a single mon isn't enough to dislike a meta) but what you said is to be expected (liking a single mon isn't enough to like a meta)

Wait, so you’re telling me the good teams help you win?
@Rainer2424 Yeah, who would have thought.

newer players gotta swallow their pride and just gotta learn w samples

Run randbat for the gen you want and just write down the best sets. Ez

I ❤ Gen 8 OU
baloon magnet rise zone is an answer to Excadrill, so if you had stuck with it, modest lele probably would have been fine
That’s only an answer 70% of the time
@@zylen3167 Yeah but that's in addition to slowbro and lando-t
Just like the real world it’s not what you know it’s who you know
Not sure if you've already tried this or its just a computer issue, but have you tried changing your FPS setting on OBS to get rid of the frame rate issue?
Day 6 of asking for a shirtless BKC video
That's on his OnlyFans

You only play special lando-t and no physical lando-t in gen 9 ou
That is backwards to any older gens player
Does anyone know the song playing at 35:00
Melmetal is my favorite pokemon yet I dont like SWSH OU
I guess you have Let’s Go to play
I love melmetal too man

Nice and early upload to shower to
Hack mons in to "save time" when playing vgc.
