Ethno Studio Germany - Morrison's Jig & Elhu

Morrison's Jig is a traditional jig from Ireland and was shared in Ethno Studio 2023 by Tiphaine Claire Peduzzi, Rachel Groves, David Kammermeier. It was fused with Elhu (or Lhu) shared by Si Nabil YACINI a Kabyle song from Algeria composed by Djamel Allam.
Morrison's Jig is commonly played in sessions across Ireland and the UK. During a session, a musician will lead a set of several tunes, usually of the same dance type, that follow one after another. Sessions are the main way for traditional players to form community and to build a shared repertoire with one another.
Elhu is an example of the songs in which the artist invites his fellew citizens for change and societal progress while keeping in mind the preservation of culture. This song was written during the 70s, a period during which the Amazigh culture was pretty much opressed and smothered . Djamel Allam is an Algerian singer-songwriter who rose to prominence in the 1970s and continues to be celebrated for his profound contributions to Algerian music and culture. He was renowned for his socially conscious poetic lyrics, addressing themes such as cultural identity, social justice, and human rights.
