Oh my goodness! I love that bracelet! My husband likes it as well! I’d love to have it if I can catch it in your shop. Alex, Gail, I just have to tell you how much I appreciate this past year watching your channel grow. Such a hard lonely dreary year it’s been, but I always had an adventure to go on with you and all my other mudlarking friends. Stunning scenery, interesting history, scanning the beaches or wading through streams, watching an artist at work at her craft, there was always fun excursions and lovely things to see. Without you there to take me along with you, it would have been a sad and dark time. I sincerely thank you for all of it. I wish for you a prosperous, healthy, safe, wonderful New Year!
Thank you so much Lynn for you support over last year! We are SO happy to hear how our videos have helped during such a difficult year. Things will start to look up, heres to 2021. Wishing you all the best for a much brighter year to come 💕 Gail & Alex xx
Happy New Year to you both! I have a question in regards to the links you made during the jewelry making part of the video. Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason you choose to use a saw to cut the links rather than a pair of snips like this? www.amazon.com/dp/B00OCGQFP2/ It seems like the snips would make this much easier. But at the same time I figure you must have a reason for using the saw instead. 😊
A touching tribute to the lost sailors!!! The Sea Shanty sent chills up my spine! Well done!!! My Sunday just wouldn't be complete without The Northern Mudlarks
@@NorthernMudlarks Hello from North Carolina Alex and Gail. I really enjoy listening to this sea shanty. I'm pretty sure you're already aware of this, but just in case you're not, I wanted to let you know that your account hacker is still going at it. I've recently received (in the past few days of January 2023) two replies to my comments on a couple of your posts (one was on the loss of Queen Elizabeth II) purportedly from y'all, but offering investment advice to anyone who clicks. The replies look legitimately like they're from y'all, with your avatar and highlighted Northern Mudlarks reply bar (for lack of a better term). Your warning about this has been very helpful and I've reported both replies. Thank you for the information about your account being hacked. Thank you also for taking us along with y'all on your mudlarking excursions, I really enjoy them. Visiting England, Scotland and Ireland is on the top of my bucket list. Hopefully one day my financial situation will allow me the opportunity to fulfill that & cross it off my list. I had my DNA tested and have discovered that I'm over 55% British & over 25% Irish. I was heartbroken when I found out I had nary a bit of Scots in my DNA. I was hoping to have some Scottish blood in my veins. 😥😥
Wow -- can you imagine making a chain-mail shirt -- the process of rolling, cutting, closing, connecting those copper rings multiplied a few hundred times!!! Gail has the patience of a saint and the steady hands of an artist -- avoiding frightening "industrial" accidents at every turn!!! The final product is really neat -- unique, but so obviously nautical -- and now "piratical" with the addition of the charm! Stay safe you all -- glad to see that you can get out and "forage"!!!
Thank you so much Aengus! The making of chainmail would definatly have been a skilled craft back in the day. I have to say though, when things art going the way you want it defiantly tries my patience, haha! All the best for the new year xx
I love that idea!!!! The next big internet shopping/fashion sensation “Gail’s Mail” !!!! Think Tom Burleigh might be able to donate some wire to get her started??!!! He might even be up to fashioning a copper Celtic princess warrior helmet to match .... completing the ensemble.?!?!
Hiya from Monika in Australia. Love watching you make jewellery. So time consuming and fiddly work. You must have a very steady hand. Just wanted to say I recognised the music playing at the end of this video. Is it Lord of the dance?. I first heard it and loved it over 45yrs ago in primary school. Living in a rural beach side town called Seaspray, our tiny little school only had 15 students. Each week we'd listen to ABC radio, music lessons. We were all given a song book at the start of the year and each week learn a new song. Lord of the dance was one of these songs. Thankyou for playing although it'll be stuck in my head now all day. 😊💕✌
You guys should do greetings cards that have been personalized by the schwooz! Just give them a piece of handmade paper and let them aschwoove or disaschwoove. Then put a rubber stamp image of the schwooz on the back with a little story. 🥰
Such a fabulous video. Thank you for crediting David for his music. I have often wondered who’s music you use in your videos. Thank you for letting me join your adventures every week.
Eyemouth, I delivered to several places there. The first time I drove down to Eyemouth, there was a huge gull on the road, it wouldn't move, so I stopped and got out the van to chase it away. By the time I turned around to get in the van, there was a bus waiting behind me full of laughing people. In my defense, I didn't know it would fly off, if I kept driving. I didn't want to run over it.
Hello lovely ladies, from the music to the stunning scenery, what a great video. The sailors bracelet is beautiful, would certainly wear it . Haven't seen a frost like that in many years , so beautiful. Keep warm and safe. Much love Sue Gosling Adelaide south Australia
Gail I could watch you creating all day long. Every piece is a revelation. From a pretty grotty looking old nail, comes a sight to behold. Looking forward to seeing the window full of treasure again. Thanks for the weekly fix.
Love this song! I use to live in Beaufort N C and they sang this at the shanty song festivals ! Love the Verse that said “Well a drop of Nelson’s blood wouldn’t do us any harm” Because my Granddad was John David Nelson !!! Love that Bracelet!!!
Loved the sea shanty reminds me of the Jolly Sailor in Looe Cornwall. When they sing these ancient songs makes your hair stand on end, especially as they are real fishermen. Love to you both.
So much fun as always! Gail, I find it easier to cut links by feeding them up along a wooden dowel as you go. The end of dowel is cut into as it provides support. This makes it a little less unwieldy. I love your work!
Once a sea glass collector always a ....; it's a curse! Love the sea shanties. Good grief - the river is turned into a hardware store. Love those copper nails. Jewelry from a common ship's nail - very original. Nice charm! Thanks for a cool episode.
Love the music, the scenery and the history. Love the hunting treasure and the craftmanship. Your channel is delightful. I look forward to watching it every Sunday night before I go to sleep. It puts me in a peaceful place. The icing on the weekend.
I used to collect periwinkle shells when I stilled lived on the Maine coast. I always wanted to have a clear glass lamp base that I would fill with those yellow winkle shells. I must also commend you on your use of David Coffin's voice. My favorite shanty performer.
The bracelet turned out beautifully! I love how the copper polished up. Gail, your work is amazing! Alex, I love the charm you created! It’s so beautiful! Looking forward to spending 2021 with y’all ❤️❤️💕💗
Those tiny yellow shells that Gail collected are darling. They look too fragile for jewelry. But maybe displayed with other shells in one of your clear glass jars that you found would be lovely.
Gail, I love watching you create your pieces of art. I enjoy designing and making jewelry, but I do not have the talents and skills that you have. You are truly an artist.

My friends dad was Harbour Master in the next village. Great sub aqua diving at St Abbas Head. What a lovely area the bathing huts at Coldingham are glorious. Definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful bracelet Gail. I would wear that with pride. Copper is my favorite metal. The only sea glass I find are tiny bits and bobs, they are beautiful in a jar or bottle with the light shining through it. Thanks for another wonderful video. Happy New Year.
Oldish artist from New England in the States, here, just want to say that you're filling me with all sorts of ideas! I realize I can do this, too! Thank you!

That green “rock” definitely looks like copper ore. Happy New Year ladies! May your year be filled with good health and much love, happiness, adventures and prosperity. 💕🎆
Fantastic video makes me homesick for Eyemouth. There was a lot of boat building in the area you found the nails. I have never been on the foreshore there but further up the river where the Ale water joins the Eye. Lovely bracelet. Just ordered some jewellery making tools with Christmas money. Got loads of sea glass and pottery to use. Tiny pieces of sea glass i set in resin to make key rings using silicone moulds.
I always love it when you make things from your finds and who could imagine that a twisted old nail could be turned into such a shiny piece of jewellery. Fantastic. The charm is brilliant too - love both sides. I also love the way you just drop in little beautiful segments of video and music which are stunning. A very nice episode.
Would you ever consider using your pipe bowls to plant tiny succulent/cactus cuttings? Many of them are so tiny, they'd look rather cute! Happy new year🎉♥️
Sara, Perhaps Air Ferns, as they wouldn't require soil, only a bit of moss and wire? They could find a piece of worn board and place them in a row, attached to it by wire. : )
Loved the show, Gail the bracelet is terrific and Alex the charm sets it off. Happy New Year ladies looking forward to this years shows I enjoy each and everyone the land is so beautiful. Stay safe and have a great year.
