  • The New Fly Fisher crew is chasing walleye on Pigeon Lake, located roughly 40 miles southwest of Edmonton. Walleye on the fly is not difficult to learn. Along with former television host Alex Kries, host Phil Rowley explains how easy it is to adapt spin-fishing techniques to fly-fishing.

    Phil, this has to be my favorite walleye video on the New Fly Fisher. That white popsicle leech is awesome, I'll have to tie that for both fly and spin fishing. I tie a similar crystal bugger with a black head, but no marabou tail, just 4 strands of black Krystal flash 2/3 of body length. Kicks butt on smallies and 'eyes at night on rockpiles and deep shoreline riprap. Thanks!

    Great video. What type of tippet material do you use on abrasive walleye teeth.

      Dennis, we are not sure where to get this. Recommend you go to Phil Rowley's UA-cam Channel and ask him. Good luck finding it.

    What kind of flyline do you guys suggest for walleye fishing? Full sink? Sink tip? And at what sink rate?

    • @newflyfisher
      @newflyfisher  2 роки тому

      Justin that depends on 1) time of year and 2) depth of water. You can't go wrong with a full sink line, short leader and a ginked up bunny leech or muddler minnow to raise the fly off bottom.

    Always wondered why their teeth do nothing to my line. Their teeth look just as rough as a northern's.

      Walleye teeth are spaced apart, you may break the odd one off but it is rare.

    Fishing Pigeon is like shooting fish in a barrel. If you can't catch a Walleye out there, give up on fishing.
