2:20 FYI if you're in the market, the lower end models of the Santa Cruz and Tucson you do get physical controls for volume, tuning, and temperature. You get a smaller screen as well but it has wireless carplay/AA.
I honestly like the "familiar Hyundai" interior. Being that I currently own a 2020 Sonata Limited, this would feel right at home for me because I'm a huge fan of the current Hyundai interiors. However, I'm definitely not a fan of the touch controls for the climate and volume. And for the price I think it should come with the same features of the Santa Fe. But in all I think this is a pretty attractive offering. I believe this is the same or similar drivetrain to the Sonata N-Line, so a tune would give this thing a nice kick.
As small a thing as it is, the placement of the infotainment screen alone makes me prefer this interior over the maverick. Looks more integrated and less tablet mounted to the dash

This would have been the perfect ride for me when I was in my 20's. Fits a dirt bike, sportbike or atv and isn't expensive like a pickup in its cheaper trims.
A constructive criticism if I may as a fan of the channel, though it applies to other car reviewers, as well. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that “special” is becoming one of the most vague, overused buzzwords in car reviews now? I feel like it’s been thrown around so much now that it just lacks meaning. With the Santa Cruz, when you say the interior doesn’t feel as “special” as the Maverick, what specifically do you mean by that? What do you wish Hyundai had changed vs the Tucson? Material choices? Colors? Design? Utility? Would love for you to elaborate further on that in future Santa Cruz videos.
we have a 21 Hyundai Tuscon se with 30k miles Hyundais are doing well keeping it for 3 more years getting a palisade after, even it has cheap interior, pretty damn good features for basic model.
I want one of these, but only if they put the Tucson's plug-in hybrid system in it. I would also get AWD and the lower SEL trim for the physical buttons.
I can fix the Santa Cruz: 1) Eliminate the base NA 2.5 engine and replace it with their 1.6T hybrid from the Tucson 2) Allow either engine choice in any trim SE/SEL/Premium/Limited 3) Limited for the price needs to include ALL of the features of the Limtied Tucson such as remote parking assist and memory seats 4) Eliminate the silver trim, make the black chrome standard
@@budapest1002 More options usually costs more due to economy of scale, that's why we don't have cars with ten engine options, it makes it more expensive no matter which option you choose.
If you can, check out the Ford Adrenalin with V8 and navigation package. That started these 4 seater midsize trucks. I eant to know what you think about it. I think you're gonna like it.
I explored one of these at my local dealership and really wanted to like it. I'm also 5'10 and I found the backseat very tight and the seating position uncomfortably upright. With the rear seats flipped up, there's really not a ton of usable space to put stuff due to the middle floor hump and intrusive cargo bins under the seats. Additionally, the 'trunk' is much too shallow to be practical, unlike the Ridgeline which you can put a week's worth of shopping in. I also found the bed hard to reach into, the bedwalls are surprisingly tall for such a small vehicle, so it's nowhere near as easy to access as the lower to the ground Maverick, or the Ridgeline with the side swinging tailgate. Additionally, the lack of physical buttons on Hyundai's generally excellent infotainment is an unfortunate mistake. Lastly, the fact they put a DCT in this was a poor decision -- it may make it more fun to drive enthusiastically, but it's a "truck" so for towing/hauling and longterm longevity, Hyundai's single clutch (excellent) 8-speed wouldve been much better. Overall, for my use, Id take the Ridgeline 7 days out of the week.
I don't think you really wanted to like it. I have owned the limited for 5 months and love it. I bought this because I am a homeowner and do not need a larger truck and hate getting our SUV dirty when doing weekend jobs. I prefer no knobs on the radio so that is a plus for me. The Santa Cruz is fun to drive and faster than most trucks and cars in that price range. Also, I am 6'2 and didn't have an issue sitting in the back. Would I want to go on a 10-hour road trip? No, but driving around town would not be an issue. My 9 year old son and his friends have plenty of room
I would maybe pick Ford over Hyundai for exterior but for interior I would pick Hyundai over Ford any day. Ford's interior looks like they haven't updated since 2010.
Does anyone know if the extra $500 for the 2024 Limited worth the difference (if any) compared to the 2023 Limited? Also do any of the trims have rear airbags or car seat preferred positions?
the touch screen is nice but my god those buttons on the gloss black are horrendous. you would have to clean that at least once a week. it reminds me of an old audi.
Interior is all hyundai? What did you expect it to be? A Chevrolet interior? And the interior is way nicer and better quality feel than the maverick, it's bland and will wear out a lot faster, especially the cloth seats
The interior may not be unique but the Ford interior looks really cheap and when you hear the Bronco sport already has problems, I would rather buy a Hyundai
Is there an option at all on this particular vehicle that has the Blindspot cameras that activate on the dash when using the turn signal like other Hyundai/Kia vehicles? I'm surprised this Limited trim doesn't have that...
Is it just me or car manufacturers really needs good designers to work on improving digital dashboard widgets? It looks like something I'd come up, and I am not a designer.
At low speeds the powertrain feels lethargic and clunky. It’s great at speed or when you punch it. Not a car I would enjoy in traffic. People will compare it to the maverick, but this feels more SUV than pick up.

I would stay away from any Hyundai product like the plague.. In my experience the only thing worse than the reliability of Hyundai is the way Hyundai treats their customers. The interior looks like a modern take on an older Audi. Not necessarily a bad thing but the resemblance is a bit odd.
I guess that can be thanks to the Germans that Hyundai has working for them. Good on them though it looks really good in my opinion.

the touch screen is nice but my god those buttons on the gloss black are horrendous. you would have to clean that at least once a week. it reminds me of an old audi.
Not an issue at all to me. I keep a small microfiber cloth in the armrest and just wipe it down every few days. Takes me maybe 20 seconds a week.

No rear seat armrest? That’s sad for a $40k vehicle. I guess rear passengers can take a milk crate and put some padding on it for an armrest. 😂
It looks exactly like the Tucson inside it’s kinda weird , like it’s barely a truck
its really not a truck, it's more of a UTE but we're weird in the usa so its a "truck" here.

The Limited at $40k has the blind spot camera

Technically the bed makes it a truck. That's really all that separates SUVs and trucks is the separate cargo box.
