i have to reply to your comment. to make shure you get the right explanation. the little room you asked us to name is most likely called "Garderobe" not "Flur" or "Windfang" because they have a other purpose a flur is most likely a hall wich connects all rooms with each other. A Windfang would prevend you getting rain in your face when you leave the hous and lock the door like a roof on your deck. so why is it called gadarobe then? its french and means as much as to guard your robe so protect your clothing (your jacket to be percice) from getting dirty. also preventing you from bringing dirt into the living area. that should be it (:

We call them mudrooms here in the states, but they're mostly the first room that you walk into from your garage, or your backyard (especially if you have kids). In places where it snows some homes will have a very tiny space (about the size of a tiny closet) with just enough room for you to put on/take off your coat + shoes.

I was always invited by my ex to her German family's birthdays and Man, those German local dishes were too delicious and creamy. I felt in love particularly with their sauces and the beef in them. I really missed those traditional cakes so much.

The room at the entrance of the house is called „Flur“ (corridor). I guess most houses in Germany have it. For us Germans it’s stange entering the house and standing e.g. directly in the living room - like it’s in the US.

Augustiner for sure is not the oldest brewery in germany because weihenstephaner is the oldest brewery in the World, And it is lokated in germany es well. But i have to agree, Augustiner is better than weihenstephaner ;)

The oldest brewery is actually Weihenstefan which was founded in 1040 which is approx. 300 years before Augustiner.^^

lol, that shoe room is what we Americans call a mudroom, which are often located next to the garage and get fully furnished with benches, hooks, lockers, shelves.. just look on pinterest. Also, some houses have small rooms that you walk into and is separated by another door that leads to the living room. I've only seen this in places where it snows and they keep their shoes and coats here.

its not the oldest one, that beer from Munich is only on the 5th place of the oldest ones, the oldest one comes from Freising (called Weihenstephan) that got already made in 1040... while the beer that you were drinkin got first made in 1328, so its nearly 300 years younger than Weihenstephan xD
EDIT: the beer you were drinking is called: "Augustiner-Bräu" just so you know, Weihenstephan is the oldest beer making bräu that you can find in germany.

Did you ever try Salzekuchen? You may get it on the weekly farmer's market in Marburg at the stand of bakery Günther. It is rye bread dough rolled flat on a baking tray topped with a mixture of onions, mashed potatoes, Quark, eggs and oil, sprinkled with bacon cubes and caraway seed and baked in the oven like a pizza. It's so good it's absolutely addictive.

Liegt dran wo du wohnst. Im Norden baut man etwas anders wie im Süden. Norden ist eher alles etwas moderner und im Süden ist der alte Style noch vorhanden. Ich habe das auch nicht. Zwar ein Flur, ohne das der noch extra abgetrennt ist.

Also ich kenn Treppenhaus nur in Mehrfamilienhäusern. In nem Einfamilienhaus passt das irgendwie nicht.
Als angehender Architekt muss ich sagen das Treppenhaus nicht treffend ist, windfang ja, wenn nach der einganstüre und nochmal getrennt. Flur oder eine Art diele wären das passendere
