When it comes to military watches, durability is crucial. In this review, we only listed watches
that offer superb abrasion and shock resistance as they use highly durable materials. Furthermore, they are all waterproof. Some of the watches are equipped with lenses made of Sapphire glass which offers significantly better abrasion resistance than the more commonly used mineral glass. A military watch should have a robust design and be in a dark discrete color that won’t draw too much attention - a crucial characteristic for watches used by military personnel, hunters, and other tactical outdoorsmen. All the watches in our list feature rugged design and come in dark colors such as black, dark grey, and camouflage green. The selected watches without GPS are all able to run for at least one year without replacing the battery.
in addition to the standard features such as time, day, and date, a military watch should also have more advanced features, like a compass, altimeter, and barometer. Compass and altimeter are useful for navigation while the barometer provides you with the atmospheric pressure data which can be used to forecast the weather. Additionally, some military watches are equipped with storm alarm, sunrise/sunset times, moon calendar, and other advanced tactical/military features such as automatic shot detection. Watches that support GPS allow you to instantly get the coordinates of your current location in various formats including the MGRS format which is normally used in armed forces. Furthermore, they can also be used for navigation along pre-planned routes as well as to waypoints.

I've been wearing the Suunto X-Lander Military for almost 8 years now and i can tell you it's a beast, my brother had a Suunto Core Military and that one too was a helluva watch, but the X-Lander imo is a little bit sturdier.. now he changed to an Apple Watch an I changed to a Garmin Instinct Solar Tactical and i can easily say that this little fella is as resistant as the X-Lander but with waaaay more functionalities (first of all the GPS). So in my little knowledge I have on this topic (since I only had these two and my brother's experience) I can say that even if the X-Lander and the Core are awesome watches there's a better one that wasn't even mentioned in this list. Hope I've been helpful to someone.
Great Video / thank you
The Rangeman is hands down the best Military/Survival watch.
İ have about 20 classic, sports and smart watches but Rangeman is a king.
Y
Same here. It's just a beast, my favourite.
Nice info
i have GW7900 'G-Rescue', Amazfit Bip, Protrek PRW-6000Y, and Fenix 6x.
among all of that, the Protrek is my way to go, 'the subtler Mudmaster GWG 1000', having both functionality and looks, goes well with both daily driver and special events.
now saving up for the Protrek PRX 7000
Same here. Went with a ProTrek because of the better design looks and same functions as the g-shock for daily use. Never turned back. Easily one of the best field watches.
Thanks for the video 🤍
Any G Shock is what you need. Everything else is just second best.
You clearly have not heard about Skmei. I use several ones, they are damn strong
@@nicebuddy9023 🤣🤣🤣give over.
@Douglas Pantera There is a video on UA-cam where a guy put one in water and put it in a fridge till it froze. It was still working. He smashed it against concrete and it still functioned perfectly. A lot people underrate skmei, they are badass wristwatches. Especially if you get the original ones
G Shick is garbage
@@galindimitrov8720 it’s indestructible pal. And a large number of people on the armed forces across the world will disagree
Only watch u need is a g-schock dw5600 or a g-shock dw6900 they are cheap and indestructable
FYI: The Suunto Core (#4) is the watch Denzel Washington wears in "The Equalizer" movies. He uses it to time how long it takes him to kick the crap out of the baddies😩
And the Suunto X-Lander Military is Preacher's watch in Medal of Honor Warfighter
Do any of these have emergency GPS beacons fitted? Do you recommend any watches that have this feature? Thanks
Nearly purchased a breitling emergency for this function but its in a different ball park to the watches they are talking about here price wise
Suunto core, jadul tapi bagus
I'll have two suunto core's Monday.
Suunto ? Where can u find changing source when you deep in Amazon jungle ? Say when you are in 2nd week of deployment ?
Hang on a sec, did you say an Amazon jungle and deployment? You realize not every military engagement is Vietnam right? And that most people who deploy end up with a fair amount of FOB or wire time?
@@LeagueOfGaming1000 true but the actual people who need to rely on certain important features that this watch offers won’t miss it when in their FOB. Oh, forget that tactical shot detection system, never works.
G-shock GG-B100 debió estar en la lista.
I am in army only an year, but i already saw that anything i need is provided by your training or military gear only what you need on your wrist is something with stopwatch. I bought Timex expedition and this is better than g-shoc bc of its low profile so it's easy to slide sleeve to check time
Also, you will torture this watch, it is best to buy something cheap and useful than some expensive gadget that you will feel sorry for
My daughter starts army boot camp next week she is older 28. Anyway I offered to purchase her a watch she hates wearing jewelry yet wants something feminine Amy recommendations since you are in? She doesn't want what everyone else has. She needs something rugged. I think?
Suunto.... Simply the best
I'd seen the Suunto Core worn by several people who should know how to pick a rugged watch so I decided to buy one.
The paint chips off the bezel VERY easily which, at first, just creates a patina of wear but after a year or so all the paint will be gone and, at the same time, the bezel starts to feel really "loose".
The real show-stopper, however, is that the buttons start to get clogged with dust and debris and jam.
After about 6 months I noticed the buttons becoming "sticky" and after 18 months it'd got to to the point where I have to tap the case to get the buttons to operate.
Worst case; if the button that operates the light jams then the light will remain on constantly and the battery will go flat within a couple of days... which is not great if you take the watch off for a couple of days, go to wear it again and realise the battery is flat.
Honestly, I've bought watches in petrol stations that were more rugged and reliable than the Suunto Core.
The Core has lots of nice features and if you're the sort of person who wants a watch for when you go hiking at the weekend it might be for you but I bet very few soldiers replace the Core with another one.

I'm sure any foe would love you to have a GPS watch 🙄 Something that beeps loudly, would be a bonus 👍 Mobile phone, even better 💥
Any of these would be helpful in fleeing Afghanistan real world current time.
WHAT WATCH IS THE SEIKO IN THE BEGINING OF YOUR VIDEO ???
Suunto Core All Black is the best for me)
Nothing without mudman, g9000 or g9300.💪😊
Nah i used a Garmin Epix, switched to Suuntu Alpha and gave it away to go for a Garmin Tactix Charlie... Alphas battery is way to weak doenst last a week, even though it has no colored screen and monsterous pixels compared to a Garmin Tactix.
Will Take Garmin over Suuntu anytime. German infantry here.
G-SHOCK 👏👏👏👏👏
Suunto-virtually unreadable in dull conditions, go for the black on white background if you must! Strap gives up after a couple of years!
for anyone who read this, what do you think about Luminox watches?
God damn expensive that I bet most soldiers can’t afford this
Suunto all the way
Threw away.
Tech is top
I need that Garmin Delta watch
It’s amazing
It is amazing, but go for the solar version!
Last suunto and garmin are really nice but expensive af
i own the top 3 . excellent review
You don't need a compass in your watch, same goes for most things on this list. If you are doing anything in the military or outdoors that requires a compass-you have an actual compass and a map that you are trained to use and know well.
For those of us who have spent a ton of time operating at night and in the dark having a GPS, compass, and watch built into 1 device is very handy to minimize sound and losing kit!
@@wemadeittotuesday3060 good point
It’s nice to have for a quick glance bearing check. There more of supplemental gear not replacement of any true land nav gear.
I went through 25 years of Army training/operations; with just a cheap $25 analog watch and the compass the Army made me sign for. I was knowledgeable enough in land navigation, that I taught that course in Primary Leadership and Development Course. I didn't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a smart watch (that would undoubtedly distracted my situational awareness). My smartwatch was my knowledge and experience with common soldier tools. I won't even delve into future neural networks and Heads-Up-Displays....................aaaaahhhhhhhh the future is focused.
@@sfchaas fair enough mate. But being able to see your grid location with a press of a button. Definitely helps. Especially sending information over the net as a commander
Dont get a Suunto Core unless you want to constantly deal with stuck buttons. It is a known issue they refuse to fix. But they'll happily charge you $80 to fix.
Connected watches are forbidden for Commando tests.......😉
i suppose that's Stealth mode on Garmin tactical Fenix/Tactix watches are for.
@@blitzer25blitz62 Either stealth mode or not, the device will not be allowed due to its feature of connectivity
true.
Rusticity is the KEY
Best Army watch is the cheapest Casio. It doesn't even need to be a G-Shock.
Nobody uses those characteristics in the Army.
If you are 2 or 3 weeks in a mountain, there is nowhere to plug the USB to recharge.
G-Shock 10 years battery power makes sense as it would be used far away from civilization
Z
My G-Shock Mudmaster has been changed 2 times in less then 5 years.
Gets started at 2.10
Keep in mind 1 simple thing, digital watches with BLUETOOTH ARE NOT ALLOWED on some confidential / military premises, so keep in mind that guys, if you are caught with bluetooth devices on such premises you will be in a world of pain and headaches,........
So Suunto Core Black is the best for $100 and because of that fact.
Garmin Tactics has stealth mode.
lmao this video is made for those who don't know jack's squat about Watches and Military 😂
yep, what the hell is a "Tactical Outdoorsman"?
@@tcranger85 ikr? I mean don't get me wrong I love those watches, and I do own both the Suunto Core and the Rangeman... my beef is just with the way they trying to push them... that shit it's just hilarious
Marathon anyone? Serious military watches.
How is there not a Marathon on this list? You would think a watch company that sells its watches to US Military and CAF would be here.
The rangeman gbr-b1000 should be no.1
b100
I have a Suunto Core and the Bezel gets scratched into sh;te ☹
A Sharpie would help
@@tomk.williams1186 I've used that on it but it still doesn't look great
CASIO RANGEMAN IS THE GOAT
I prefer something with solar. I switched to a ProTrek and since then my Garmin sits in the drawer
That's my hangup. Alot of these watches seem very power hungry. If you're out away from reliable power sources then how reliable are those watches?
Rangman
Where is the Garmin INSTINCT tactical?
Just got mine today, they are on sale for $375
Sorry Garmin Fenix 6x pro-solar is Still KING
how much...
Best military watch is a cheap watch. Omg. Dw6600. These expensive heavy watches is just too overkill.
What kind?
@@mattlucyk69 Swiss army?
Most guys just go for a reliable beater watch such as the Sunnto Core, as soon as it looks so bad you can hardly read it, just buy a new one. Simple.
I really need one please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Now that I really need one please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The top 2 military watches are the GPR 1000 Rangeman and the GWG 1000 Mudmaster. The watches on this list are garbage in comparison.
@Douglas Pantera Cheap throw aways GOOD. Well built BAD. Douglas logic 😂
@Douglas Pantera It blows away the competition. Your info is waaay off . The Rangeman can do much farther than a mere couple of kilometers. As for the negative display its absolutely AWESOME. The best one out there. By far. As for the 3 second backlight IT'S a WATCH not a computer ! Lol
@Douglas Pantera The GWG is just as awesome. Very well built as well with Its tough solar, Multi Band 6 time keeping and sapphire crystal its an incredibly bad ass watch. Both watches are head and shoulders above the competition. Not even close.
So G-shock Rangeman GPR-B1000 doesn't come close to military watch.🤔 Because it was built for Survivor watch.
casio is just watch
Suunto shot detection is shit. When the LMG is next to you
I might think they are refering to RPG shot lol
👍👍👍😀😀😀
This is just marketing. Some of the military folks that I've talked to get by with a low-tech TIMEX and Fitbit.
Most of my family and friends who are active or retired military or police use G-Shock, being the inexpensive watches cant take the shocks they put them through. I agree with them I've tried them all cheap, expensive, and everything in between and have settled on the G-Shock line of watches, I'm very hard on watches and they just take a beating and keep going.
I really like my suunto core from like 2012. No internet/smart capabilities but chalk full of useful features. I actually bought it based on a recommend from a marine. Still holding up just as good today as it did nearly 10 years ago.
Get a gshock or Garmin end of story
For me i just want good quality watch that only tells me the time, date & day i dont want to charge it ! no need for gps and Bluetooth
XONIX watch from amazon will be the best choice for you
Then buy a digital watch??
👍🙂👍
I want a g shock that is a smartwatch with GPS, MAP and full OS functionality
They literally just released one a couple weeks ago , full google wear os
@@mbgamersa5075 interesting
Garmin is better than Sunto
luminox should be here.. it's what navy seals use - probably the best special forces in the world
Nah Royal Marine Commandos SBS..
Disagreed, every special forces unit on the planet was created with a set task in mind, the mother of all special forces being the SAS, comparing them is asinine. Not one is comparable to the other, not mention there are different regiments or teams and specializations in each spec op unit.
Seals use a $50 G-shock
The best are spetnatz from Russia
Navy SEALS do not use them. It’s a marketing scheme.
For what fucking reason i need GPS if i had that in my gear provided by military
Outdated video. Some of the watches have been discontinued. Do not waste your time.
Suunto core all black it's not so durable
Suunto is a good watch but the straps dissolve rather quickly. So the rubber is not durable.
That's a minus for your review and I will not be following this channel.
Sunto core is bad don't buy it the buttons get stuck very very bad option it does look cool but the buttons get stuck
Way to go ripping off footage from Jabber!!!
The intro so long ... didnt even talk about the size of the watches ... lots repeating ... big dislike
Americans not mentioning much from China / Japan .... how one can justify that ... not my cup of tea really and not the way to go abt things .. so a avg effort if nothing less could be said !!
2.15 minutes before you get started? Too much bloviating and drum rolling, respect your audience.
Suunto sucks, Garmin is much better than suunto
Ok the title says best military watches, lol YOU CAN’T USE A WATCH THAT HOOKS UP TO A FREAKING CELLPHONE ,IN THE MILITARY !! So you might wanna take those out of there lol wtf man?
In fact you can’t even have a cell phone! For the love of god man do some research!
JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK PEOPLE REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR TODAY NOT TOMORROW PEOPLE WHICH IS PROMISED TO NOONE ON THIS EARTH
You've "Suunto'd" us twice in the list before going for number one which is (drumroll)...a Suunto, so unfortunately I'm having a hard time believing the completeness of your inventory in the video and opt to trust the comment section instead lol.
Don't get me wrong, they're all great watches, it's just that I detected a "one-two and punch" advertising formula.
Hope I'm being fair, I was seriously looking for a fair watch countdowns to help me decide a buy, still am.
