There were many others there of course so I didn't get to talk to him but I thanked him and he said you're welcome! A moment I'll never forget!
I have 3 suggestions: 1.Papaya Orange: Bruce McLaren official color 2.since it carry Senna name then you should explore painting it with a McLaren MP4/4 colors (first time Senna name associated with McLaren) 3. Mix of the following (bit messy) : A) All black parts on box art:JPS black with golden strips B) Papaya Orange C) Front Hood: MP4/4 color
Clever Tamiya. They can create so many spin offs from this kit just like McLaren have done in full scale. Basic tub is common to most of the McLaren full size cars with different versions spun off it.
I'd classify these kind of cars as Hypercars and not Supercars. Prices and technology in those is so far out that a separate category is needed. Great review as always.
Two points, I wish you would have let us see all of the instructions. It will be a while before we can see how it goes together. Second question, I see you show the LP paint bottles, are you getting them for sale or have them? I have been wanting tamiya Lacquer paint for a while. Please let us see the directions though as this builds up around the chassis, I want to see how it goes together.

I can foresee the use of multiple sheets of carbon fiber decals in my near future. I reckon this would look awesome in Gunze GX-204 blue and black. I wonder if Tamiya will be releasing further Mclaren kits down the road?

It's funny how a few years back reading how some modelers complained when Academy started doing colored sprues and stuff for their recent aircraft kits, like if it'd ruin the models and make them toy like. When the colored sprues doesn't make any difference after you've painted your model and ignoring the fact that Tamiya and other 'top brands' have been doing colored sprues in car kits and other stuff for years if not decades. And as Andy said many people and kids their first model may end up unpainted and some may not go beyond building that way.

One person in my city own one. there is some deep purple carbon with some fluorescent green accent. So nice. Will sure paint minette same way with this kit!!!

just imagine the amount of work it would have taken Tamiya to Replicate that car, draw those elements in CAD, then setup the moulds.. all to scale. wow.

This is cool and I’m definitely getting one but why Tamiya won’t release cars like the M3/M4, GT3, GT2RS, Lotus ExigeS etc. -.- I guess we should be grateful for a new release no matter what it is these days lol

My 2001 Lotus Esprit had a 500hp engine governed to 350 hp, and about an equivalent amount of torque. That thing scared me sometimes...this...I don't know if I'd even take it out of the garage!
Same colors as their current F1 cars. Papaya Orange and metallic Blue. Or Senna's helmet colors, Yellow and Green (Brazil national colors). Or White and Florescent Red like the McLaren he drove.
I think a nice German Tiger camo paint scheme, weathered with lots of mud and rust. 😂

Put money on it there will be detail sets from Tamiya on this similar to their FXX-K. Photo etch and carbon decals. Kit looks amazing.

Traditional colors for McLarens body are white with a green stripe. Until recently when they switch to silver gray.
What colour would you use, Tom? Papaya?

Some sort of color shift color and black might be interesting.
Green Stuff World chameleon Cobalt Blue (color shift of blue to purple) would be wicked. alas they do not have a cool red color in this paint.
I might buy this just to appreciate the model's engineering. The folks at Tamiya are the best.

After you use pigments can you just use a flat clear or do you need to use pigment binder then clear it?

I'd vote Victory Grey for the color. I think it's unique. Painting it reddish orange might make it look too much like a Ferrari.

McLaren refer to their orange as Papaya but it could be done in a fluro Marlboro red too.
