    We'll go from seed to harvest with these plants and I'll show you what I think is the best way to grow tomatoes - with hydroponics in 5 gallon buckets! We'll also discuss pruning, pollinating, ripening, and all the aspects of tomato plant care.

    i am in this horticultural club and few years ago a number of them recommended the “Dyna-Ggo Foliage Pro 9-3-6. I use that on my indoor dwarf lemon and satsuma orange tree and does amazing. For my peppers/tomatoes i use the Cal Mag Plus not only in my solution, but after fruit is set, i spray the deluded formula onto the leaves to boost them green and avoid end rot. When i had problems years ago, the horticulture group came/held their meeting at my home and told me that I was at times filling my solution too high/(being lazy) and was suffocating the roots/not allowing the roots to breath/oxygenate. By doing that, the tomatoes/peppers/pumpkins could not properly intake the nutrients. They stated it wasn’t a solution mixing problem, but the ability to intake the solution. Also, in hot summer days, the tomatoes were not able to perspire fast and well enough to intake the nutrients in my solution to offset the extra growth and hot weather. ...by spraying/ zapping my tomatoes/pepper plants with the Cal-Mag Plus by spraying onto the leaves, it would offset the difficulties the plants have during hot or growing periods to uptake/have enough fertilizer to keep its fruit and also eliminate flower drop. Initially, i had thought i didn’t have my solution string enough, but the group stated that the solution was fine, just the inability at times to uptake the nutrient solution when my tomato plants were either growing too quickly or trying to set fruit. By directly spraying the leaves, you feed your plant more quickly and it has a better effect. Although, in my soil pot vegetables i use liquid fertilizer, the foliage spray fertilizer works better than liquid fertilize watering. So, i water my plants with fertilizer most of the time, but periodically i spray with foliage spray to give it that extra boost. In the past, my indoor lemon and orange tree was dropping it’s flowers and lemons, but after using foliage spray not only do i no longer have flower/fruit drop , but my leaves have also perked up and dark green healthy leaves.

    Also, tomato plants in soil benefit from cutting away all the bottom stems/leaves, and burying them deeper when initially planting in final pot. Btw, tomatoes benefit greatly by using extra large pots and even better grow pots/air pots are even better.... your tomato plants if in soil do best in air pots

    You can add some Epsom salt, magnesium sulfate, to increase sweetness and some Calcium nitrate to stop the skin from splitting. Both of these are probably already in your nutrient solution, but not in sufficient quantities. Adding some phosphorus may help your flowers and fruit grow larger and faster.

    I have 5 mini toms on my window seal. They are in potting mix, and they are to close together. The back side of the tomatoes leaves have died off. But they are still producing tomatoes! I just use miracle grow. I was using 18-18-21, then I use 10-52-10 every once in a while, to bring on blooms! I did just today take 2 of them outside, to open them up for more sun. The two outside have never been outside so I hope they survive. I'm in Texas and it's October 14th.

    Hey Jimmy - the indoor constant and warmer temp will cause indoor tomato plants & leaves to grow larger than the outdoor, but for indoor tomatoes, they will dry out more, so foliage spray is suggested....something with a calcium boost. In the wi ter time i bring in my lemon trees, they neec to be regularly zprayed with a spritz of water and twice a month at a minimum, sprayed with foliage spray to limit flower drop and end rot. Also, unlike marijuana plants, tomato plants like temp. Fluxuation....say cooler at night/allow tomato plants to rest at night in cooler environment and then turn on grow lights during the day.

      Very cool! I need to look into some of these foliage sprays you mention

    • @toddripcity7878
      @toddripcity7878 3 роки тому

      Through my experiments, my foliage spray worked amazingly. I use 1-2 times per month and gives it the extra zap/boost it needs. I also started adding the Cal Mag Plus into my hydrophobic solution and greens up my vegetable plants more. I get more flowers, flowers don’t drop. Also once the first set of peppers/tomatoes appear (larger than dime size) i spray it directly onto the the leaves and no more end rot

    Jimmy, if I'm going to Kratky tomatoes and use REMO nutes, do I add micro, grow and bloom all together or what would you recommend?

    • @JimmyBHarvests
      @JimmyBHarvests  2 роки тому +1

      I haven’t used that brand but all micro/grow/bloom are pretty much the same. Follow the dosage amounts on the bottle and mix micro into your water first, then grow and bloom. You’ll always use all three for the whole lifecycle of the plant. Add more water/nutrients occasionally as the plant drinks them up. Good luck!

      Trim the roots? Nah dont touch the roots. I cut some secondary stems/branches to shape the plant and keep it focused on fruiting rather than vegetative growth. You always want as many roots as possible though.

    very helpful info, did you finally find out what caused the flowers drop for indoor plant. and what about the covering of sun for 2 days didn't the tomato plant completely get any sunlight or any light?

    • @JimmyBHarvests
      @JimmyBHarvests  3 роки тому

      Hard to truly say what caused the flower drops, I think it was temperatures being too high indoors. Covering the plant outside did block the sun, but that’s exactly what the plant needed to soak up water and come back to life, it was super dried out. This had no negative impact on the plant because it was only a couple days.

    With regards to the plant wanting to keep growing, and nutrients, have you ever heard of the Lucas Method? You only use the Bloom, and Micro nutes and don’t use the Grow. It’s a 2/1 ratio of Bloom to Micro that you double every week. Oh, and you also use a Calmag as well. It’s an older style of growing that helps the plant concentrate on producing big buds/fruit and not growing so much. I’m not a tomato guy (yet) so I’m not sure if it would work, but I would be willing to send you the stuff needed to try it out for us!

Not sure if I can pull it off as the Advanced nutrients ph perfect technology requires all three components and I don’t have any ph measuring tools. ....most other vegetables dont benefit from stripping the bottom stem and burying the stem further, but with tomato plants tbey will grow a further more developed root system by doing so. You can still get tomatoes indoors, but make sure to spritz the leaves regularly and use a foliage fertilizer to give it a bost indoor fruit production. Make sure you don`t leave the grow light on 24/7.....most vegetable plants need a period they can rest /sleep. Also, if using grow lights/led, u really don`t need need to have it right by tge window if you are getting too much of a sun/magnifying situation.... this causes your flowers to drop and dries out your plant.
