What a voice, what a beauty. She's super special. No one will ever be like her.
She was 50 here and her voice was so clear, in control and healthy 😊
Sadly, because of her earlier pop hits like "girls just wanna have fun", most people don't realize what a truly exceptional, powerful and talented singer Cyndi is.
I know it. That person is me. Sadly. Just realizing her ridiculous talent.
She is an amazing artist..
Love Cyndi Lauper. This was in 2004, when she was 51, she is now 70!! 🤯. and as cool as ever!! My favorite version of this song 🎶 and , for me, favorite Cyndi Lauper song, period. It is a wonderful example of her vocal range and ability. It is soft and sexy, emotional and full of vocal range, exceptional. The ability to sustain a note....fantastic. it is so.much more than Girls Just Want to Have Fun!! She is also a great writer, as she is responsible for the Broadway musical version of Kinky Boots and I believe she has won the Tony Award fo it. I think the audience sat there stunned at her performance not that they were not having fun. 😄. Hap, that was a fun and entertaining reaction. You seemed a bit taken aback at her musical abilities. This is why I love this channel. Digging through a repertoire and finding hidden gems 💎.
I think it was 2011. Atlast...live
She’s not only a unique voice. She’s a songwriter. Comes from the heart.
Back then I thought she was just a funny pop singer who had some hits. I didn't recognize how extraordinary her voice really is. I just came to appreciate that more in the past few years.
This song was originally written for Roy Orbison, but she came out with it first. His version is also great.
It was actually written by Steinberg and Kelly (they wrote many 1980s hits for many great artists) originally they wanted Roy Orbison to sing it and I guess he did record a Demo (which was released after died) after he died they gave the song to Cyndi who released it first.
Her voice in this song is beautiful and unsurpassable, many tried but were unable to reach her tone in this song which demands a lot of the voice and only those with a good voice can achieve this change in vocal tonality. That's why Cindy will continue to be the only voice and best singer.

Oh YES. She's so insanely talented and controls a crowd like very few artists. Her energy on this version is off the chain
Yes, she has some fantastic songs to offer, and definitely some that immediately come to mind like “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”. I know this song too, but I don't remember ever seeing her perform live and I have to admit I never really realized of what she is capable with her voice - amazing and it looks that way effortlessly 🤩👍. Great song choice, Jill, and fantastic reaction, HAP🤩🙋🏻♀️.
Cyndi Lauper RULES!!
Give a hand to a woman who can belt out a song, knows her own mind and speaks it! Triple sparkler!
"I Drove All Night" is a song written and composed by American songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and originally intended for Roy Orbison. Orbison recorded the song in 1987, the year before his death, but his version was not released until 1992. Cyndi Lauper recorded the song and released it as a single for her A Night to Remember album. Her version became a top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic in 1989 and was also her final top 40 hit on the American pop charts. Lauper still regularly performs the song in her live concerts. The song has also been covered by Canadian singer Celine Dion, whose version topped the Canadian Singles Chart and reached number 7 on the US Adult Contemporary chart in 2003.
"I Drove All Night" was recorded by American singer and songwriter Cyndi Lauper for her third solo album, A Night to Remember (1989). Lauper said she wanted to do it because she liked the idea "of a woman driving, of a woman in control." The song was a top 10 pop hit in the United States-and was her 8th and last US top 10 single to date, peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, and also a hit in other countries. It received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. The music video for "I Drove All Night", directed by Lauper and Scott Kalvert, features the opening lines from the song "Kindred Spirit", shots of an antique car, Lauper's characteristically manic dancing, and movie film projected onto Lauper's naked body.
Critical reception
Billboard reviewer described the music of this work as "yearning crystalline pop/rock" and found Lauper's vocal mature. Jerry Smith, reviewer of British music newspaper Music Week, called Lauper "American with good ear", priced her work for "assured and dramatic display" and expressed an assurance that this "passionate ballad" is "destined to return her to the charts once more".
Cyndi Lauper always makes me smile....it's her quirkiness. Yes, I always think of "Girls just wanna have fun." I had not heard this one before, but, yes, it showed off her vocal capability. Loved the song choice, Jill ❤ As always, Hap, your reaction was point on ✌️ ☮️ 🥷
Love that!
This is from her At Last DVD. I highly recommend it . I remember when the original video came out in the 80s and I always love Cyndi's version a little more because of the passion of it. The vocals of this woman. OMG The control of her voice. Those octaves.
This is the singer Madonna wants to be when she grows up!
Miss Cindy! What have you done? You look...almost...tame! Love me some Cindy! (she use to open for Cher during a few tours so I was lucky enough to see her a few times)
Have to say this is one song of hers I don't think? I have ever heard before. I like it!
Good one Jill!
Oh wow!
Wow that was just something else. Great great pick and really loved your reaction.
Awesome! Thank you!
Cyndi lauper reina !❤❤❤❤❤
It is really catchy. 😮 Her performance is really unique and I love her energy! Amazing reaction too Hap. Thank you. 👍
My pleasure!!
Saw her first tour after the album She's so Unusual. Loved her and got every album after that. One of a kind
Pure fire

True Colors orig. video because it shows you visually what she's conveying with the song and how multifaceted her artistic talent really is. She's a champion for all who are bullied for who they are.
Oh and read a bit about all she's accomplished: Kinky Boots, The Goonies... on and on. Extraordinary person
I liked her then & I like her now. The song that gets stuck in my head is She Bop. I have no idea why 🤣 She really showed her vocal capabilities on this song. Great song choice Jill! 🥰 very inspiring reaction HAP! 🥰🔥❤️🥰
Oh yes, She Bop 😅👍
Rocks it every time💙👍💙😍
Incredible voice and incredible artist, she walks to her own drum. Celine Dion covered this song beautifully but I prefer Cindy's, her quirkiness makes it extra special. 💜
Goosebumps ❤❤❤❤
She's so unusual!
Cyndi Lauper showing a bit of a sophisticated performance but definitely no lack of charisma. Yes this mutitalented lady can still perform and that voice still sing like the first time she stepped out on stage years ago. Love Cyndi!! A very enthusiastic reaction, Hap!! 💜🎵 Great choice, Jill 🥰
Love Cyndi!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great song!! Cyndi is always amazing!!
I ain't gunna lie, gimme a comparence of Madonna in the same year where Cindy is. We havent seen or heard from Madonna in 20 years beside some EU pop re-recorded and good for her but Lauper might have not made the kabillions of cheddar but she can walk around NY freely.
I did know Cindy has fantastic vocal range but still was taken away by this performance!
my favorite
Though I like Celine's version this is my favorite. Check out the music video.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
