This makes me feel like a kid again with all the interchangeable parts. So many possibilities!
For those not interested, they actually look a lot better and more fun in person.

@@GeekDadLife How about during a battle the Mass Device malfunctions and sends two army’s to Eternia, Gi Joe and Cobra! I think this would be the ultimate crossover for Origins and maybe the last one I could think of.
Peanut Butter and chocolate, a combination the USA loves but is less appealing to us from Europe lol

Some of the second wave characters look pretty good, but these aren’t for me, sorry Jay👍🤷♂️
@@CraigAlanMurray1977 The peps in the states get figures for considerably cheaper then us in Europe so are less fussy and often buy what IMO is the 'Shovelware' of the toy figure world. I also think there is a lot of die hard 100% ers that must get every figure in a line no matter how naff it is.
It would be cool if Mattel released all 4 Turtles in their MOTU buck but without any armor at some point

Honestly I wish this had just been TMNT Origins figures. Highly articulated Playmates looking figures. Or at least make it so these can just be the turtles without all the armor and stuff.

I have good news for you then....Playmates have a line coming out for the 40th anniversary of TMNT that are "retro styled" figures based on the 1987 cartoon with modern articulation. They will be launching this year at some point for $14.99 RRP each. Just the 4 Turtles at first but they each come with a diorama piece to build a larger display base. They will offically be revealed with pics on the 23rd or 24th of January along with the TMNT figures for the new Tales Of.. animated series and the third wave of Mutant Mayhem toys.
We need a Bebop and Rocksteady before this line is allowed to stop.

I got Leo and Don, and I think they're great! I just preordered Raph yesterday.
I found that if you put the two sword halves in Leo's hands detail side out, they fit better, but I do agree that I wish they were more robust. Also, you didn't mention how you can peg Donnie and Man-At-Arms' weapons together to make one long staff. I thought that's where you were going when you focused on Duncan's weapon, but then you didn't.

My kids are more MOTU fans but they kinda like Turtles, My Daughter really wants that Donatello. Great stuff man.

I call this Crossover an overall success! For a novelty line they could have phoned-in these figs but instead they put genuine thought & creativity into this very fitting project.

I luv Crossovers in-general, tho not all work-out well.
One of my fave Crossover toy lines was in 2009 with Star Wars/Transformers Crossover. Most of the Toy designs were not executed well but sum were a home-run.
The concept of those two worlds colliding was itself an interesting idea.
I think this is a beautiful mix. Great cards, beautiful figures. I hope it ropes in new fans on both sides.

The turtles having such thin waists and removable shells does kinda bother me but I still preordered all of them that I could.
So far I've just ordered the Turtles characters. That teaser of a Shredder slime pit playset on the cardbacks would really be really appropriate. Especially with all these mutated motu heroes.

Dang, I was really hoping Donnie's helmet was removable. I snagged Leo and Donnie on BBTS early New Year's Day so I don't miss out with the hopes of getting He-Man (who might actually be my favorite figure so far revealed) and Man at Arms locally.
I wonder if they’ll make an in helmeted one in the future, or we’ll just have to customize the Leo one
Appreciate the review! I have been wildly impressed with the newer Filmation figures and while I'm not opposed to a MOTU/TMNT crossover this first series feels very uninspired. The Trap Jaw/Mouser combo is solid but if I had to choose between the Filmation subset & the MOTU/TMNT I'd take the Filmation figures every time.

I've missed your MotU reviews Jay! :D Turtles size was the first thing I've noticed but I came up with a cunning plan! 🤣 As I only plan to get the turtles from this line, they will be going on a shelf with my Masterverse figures, which will make them properly sized! 😀
On the topic of Masterverse...I know it is your thing to compare Masterverse with Classics, but buying Classics just for a video would not be a smart financial choice (well, other bad financial choices we, as collectors, can't avoid don't count! 😂 ), and since Masterverse figures are kicking ass right now I am sure everybody would like to see your Masterverse reviews, even if we don't get the comparison to their Classics counterparts.

Not a MOTU collector and only a casual TMNT collector. Picked up the Leo outta curiosity/FOMO. I kinda wish I'd bought 4 Leos to kitbash into more "regular looking" Turtles: MOTU style bodies with their TMNT style weapons would be more in my wheelhouse.

No pop n swap demo? I assume all the parts are interchangeable, no? Which would mean the heads and armor and accessories should mostly work with Masterverse too. Fun.

Motu figures not partially squatting looks weird to me, but aside from that, looks like a fun line (similar to that fun i found with the masters of wwe line).
But just don't give us that shredder ooze pit before the horde some pit, Mattel!
... although, it's not like I'll skip either one.

Is that Freddie Williams II on art of the comic? He did the MOTU/Thundercats crossover and maybe more MOTU, as well as Turtles/Batman crossover comics, so if it is him, seems like the perfect choice. I wasn't going to get any of these but I might need to just for the comic... or wait for Dark Horse/IDW to collect them.

Jay, I'm gonna be honest man. The music choice for what played behind the whole vid was not it. I found it distracting at best, sense of unease at worst.

@@SecretOfMonkeyIsland784the name of the game I’m afraid, MOTU is no longer a main widespread release in toy stores. Although the random retail exclusive Moss Man being at Smyths is kinda encouraging, it would be cool if this line ended up back at Smyths.
This is a great looking crossover. The only one I’m not sold on is the blend with Michelangelo….not sure what they were thinking there.
I would also love a set of Thundercats in Origins style, no merging of styles would be needed. 😊

I think the Turtle figures look way better than the MOTU side. I do think the Mutant He-Man is totally 90's looking.

These will be my first Turtles ever. I've always appreciated some of the TMNT designs but just couldn't get past the goofy parts of TMNT.
As a kid who grew up with GIJoe and was about 17 when TMNT hit shelves, the cartoony TMNT stuff just ruined toy collecting for me. After the amazing decade of GIJoe dominating, all of the sudden, everything was neon, ninja, and dumb in the toy aisles.
But TMNT combined with my beloved He-Man? Sign me up. It's the cross over I never knew I wanted.

I may give my Leonardo Ninjor and Space Samurai's katanas instead of the swords he came with. The real question is whether these get displayed with TMNT or with MotU since those collections are in different rooms of my house.

My only complaint is the laziness of just using the He-man buck on the Turtles

I am a fan of TMNT and MOTU but so far i dont find any of the figures in this line alluring. With the cost of figures going up i need to be more picky about what i spend my money on and to me these arent a 'Must have' purchase.
Yeah I could see this not being a “must have” for everyone. I’m def being more picky on what I buy this year as well
