I would have a safari if it was less than 1,200 I think the big point that still not being accepted is, Ego bat can be used with thier chain saw. If we r talking storms or worse. Chain saw. Pole pruner, mower. I could clean up my yard with out dragging a cord through the water. Which is what you would have to do with safari . I like safari fast recharge but that's it. I have the solar add on. And if looking for a way to cook. Look at gosun solar cooker. Cooked sausage in 30 min with just sun.. Anything us better that nothing .but Ego still seems best way to go.
I have the ego nexus power station. Love it. Run my furnace tv internet and fridge with 4 7.5amh batteries for power outage. I have a small 1000 watt gas generator to recharge batteries as needed . Ego is great
Just looked on line for prices. Ego sales for $999. Safari sells for $1,999. So could have 2 Ego units. One to charge while one is running. And still be able to use batteries for all my Ego Equipment. Plus the new zero turn that's coming out will have 4 x 10. Batteries on it. Safari not bad. But Ego still for me. Nice presentation though. Always good to compare.
The Safari will charge in a hour and 30 minutes and solar as fast if you purchase the panels. Biggest thing is you can use the Safari while charging. The Safari has Lith. phos. battery. 2500+ charge cycles
$1,999 for only a little more than 900 Wh. Seriously? I'll keep my Ego which allows me to easily replace batteries as needed without rendering the power station useless because its not a closed system. So far I have been very happy with Ego battery life.
That’s a great deal. I had bought 2 of these units for $1400 off of people selling pallet returns. I sold 1 of the unit without the batteries for $400. So I ended up spending $1000 for my power station with 4 x 7.5ah batteries. FB Marketplace and CL has the best deals. I thought I got a good deal, but your deal is awesome.
100% agree. I have plenty of EGO batteries from all of my lawn tools so this adds another use for the batteries that I already have without buying another system.
I have an Ego power station with 4 x 7.5ah batteries ($1000), a Goal Zero 1000 ($850) and a DIY solar system with 60a mppt charge controller, 3000w reliable pure sine wave inverter, lifepo4 3072wh and 650w solar panels ($1532). I got deals on everything I bought. I love my ego power station, because I have a bunch of their power tools. I understand it’s limitations and yes the solar charger that they just came out with sucks. But let’s be fair when trying to compare these 2 products. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. I can’t use this Lion’s Energy for anything else but as a power station. I can’t take out the Lion energy’s batteries and use it on my leaf blower, trimmer, lawn mower, etc. The price of the Lion energy safari ME is $2000. For that price, there’s the ecoflow delta 1300, bluetti ac200, etc. Most people that buy the Ego powerstation, already have a bunch of their power tools. I think a better comparison to the Lion Energy Safari ME is against the Bluetti AC200 or the ecoflow delta 1300. But thanks for your video, we appreciate the information.
I went with ego. Seems better to have. Batteries seem to die faster then the manufacturers say so a sealed power station is not a long term way to go as I see it.
Excellent presentation. This is the first I’ve seen from you. We have the older version of the Lion Energy unit and it works very well. I am more than likely going to buy the new ME version shortly. As a total aside it’s nice to see someone who has a bookshelf with books in it.
I saw a review on the older style Lion Energy where they said that a con is the DC output isn't regulated. Do you know if the new style ME is regulated?
I may still get the Nexus 3000 at some point. I just purchased my 1st Ego device, a chainsaw. I hope to get a pole extender chain saw for it plus another battery and then a mower one day. Once done, then grab a Nexus 3000 for power outage issues we have here in NorCal. Biggest gripe is you can use and charge this at the same time so only way I see during power outages that last for days and solar is to use the fast charger, maybe 2 of them, and create a small solar setup to charge the external batteries during the day, or a small propane generator, so at night you can have a couple batteries say to swap and keep the fridge going. At least that is what I may do. We shall see. Thanks for your cool video!
Solar charging is even slower than the already slow built in charger so to me it would be useless. The Ego is all I need to get me through the typical power outage but I do have a small 700 watt gas generator used just to recharge batteries for extended power outages. I prefer the dual charger that came with the Ego snow blower as I can change 2 batteries at the same time.
Reminder that you can purchase a solar adapter that allows you up to 180 watt input. The issue there is that is a pretty small limitation (I have ordered one to test) since most of the solar panels in RV are from 300 to 400 watts (mine if 400). Also, the EGO is about $1300 vs the $2300 for the Lion.
Thanks for you comment. Unfortunately it's only about 6% (170watts up to 180) more powerful than the wall charger.....negligible. Still leaves you with almost a 13-hour charge for 4 7.5ah batteries. That is if you have the perfect amount of solar power.
I have a small solar setup on my detached garage with a LiFe battery bank. I use it to power the garage & fast charge my Ego & power tool batteries. I could definitely use a ego generator without requiring any gas.
Yes I totally agree. I actually went to the Lion Energy Warehouse a couple weeks ago and talked to the engineer on this very subject. Also, a soft start built in is necessary on subsequent models.
The ability to chain the expansions together would be awesome, adding an addition 2kwh would be cool. I saw the Lion wall batteries, I thought those were pretty cool too.
2k for the original unit. I can't imagine how much the expansion pack would be. At that point the price has become ridiculous (at least for me). I hear people say the Ego is way overpriced but it's a lot cheaper than the Safari.
Actually I’ve ran my High Powered Microwave for 1- minute showing I was up at 100% using 2025 watts without tripping. I do have a Rapid Charger and I plan to a 3rd Power Station for my Trailer that will have a 200-watt Solar Panel to recharge my Ego Batteries. I’m an Electrical Contractor who knows how to separate my Neutrals to run half of my 15 & 20-amp circuits on Power Station #1 and the other half of my 15 & 20- amp circuits on my 2nd Power Station. While running my 2- Power Stations during the day and all night I’m totally separated from my 200-amp Main Panel that can receive 240v power from my Generator to run the A/C and the Well

Yeah it literally came out one week after I posted this video. But I agree with what you said that it is minimally useful at best due to its rather low solar input and the fact that it cannot be used while charging.
Lol! if a battery goes bad in a Ego Nexus at least you can replace the battery instead of trying to dismantle a generator where the battery is inside thereby voiding warranty.
Yes I looked into that. Only 6% more powerful than the wall charger at 180w vs 170w.... negligible. Still close to 13 hours of charge time for four 7.5ah batteries in a perfect solar generation scenario. And I don't think you can't use the machine while you're charging.
